...that's according to the VIC Welfare Act that differs (?..I didn't followed up on the Vic once I found the one for NSW) from the NSW Welfare Act (TBC)...I think the problem is 'owning / keeping it' or even 'selling' it...hence the guy in the article is asked to destroy it. So even under Vic law I think I would be fine (or fined???) as I don't keep it, but 'destroy' it in an environmental friendly manner :D ... For the NSW Welfare Act I think I can 'satisfy the court', as requested under section 5c-i that the 'animal concerned was incapable of fending for itself in its natural habitat'... In some countries the roadkill is actually sold to pet food companies and meat processors, so it has a 'specified' value you would steal from the licenced collectors if you pick it up...but here in Australia we don't put processed roadkill in our Australian made dog food, don't we? :) ...at least I'm not aware of licenced collectors, so I assume I don't steal it from someone...saying this, it is one of the tasks of this thread to find out and to clarify... ETA:...there is also the hygienic aspect to be considered: if you start transforming your garage into an abattoir processing a big kangaroo every day...well, you will likely have some visitors from the H&S department soon....I assume a Wallaby - for your own dog(s) - every 1-3 month should be fine... My apologies. I can't find a reference - I'm clearly wrong. I was sure it was an offence to remove any native animal - beyond moving it off the road. And moving it off the road and moving it off the road and taking it home to the dogs are two different things.

Hope you can sort the marking business out - I'm so grateful Scottie never marks in the house. Yup. Scottie howls on occasion too. Its obe of the reasonsI send him to day care. At least i know 2 days a week hes not annoying the neighborhood

(I worked for them many moons ago - as did a school mate. Her boyfried had worked for them for over 15 years and was just called on the last day of his leave and told not to come in - as they had gone into receivership - I believe he's still fighting for his pay out ) So fbaudry, looks like you'll probably have to find another option.

wish I had a dollar for every time I was asked "when is the foal due" they were looking at my slightly obese gelding? although I think the winner was the neighbor who asked me why is my donkey mare beating up my stallion? went to have a look and standing there looking at me, were one donkey stallion and one donkey gelding?? how do you explain that to their owner ? He bought them as a "breeding pair" How did he not see the very large donkey bits??? Male dog at the day care I was working at was given a female name - owners thought he was a she for 2 weeks when they first got "her" and then, when they realised, decided they liked the name. Clearly they don't know what penis looks like - on any species...

Not trying to disagree with you TSD - but the thing is - you're not "supposed" to have a formal start routine - beyond a quick acknowledgement that you're about to start - harness on, rev up or start word and off you go. Anything remotely resembling obedience gets "left left home" ... I actually wonder if Mal is getting too excited / anxious / ready to go while PK sets up for home practice and if a faster or even "surprise session" would help him - eg get Mr PK to hold him or play with him while you do the set up - get him in the frame of mind that it could happen anywhere any time. Or maybe a more formal finish word which is only used for NW - we trained with someone who used czech words for start and finish and said she only used them for NW.

Uh. I'm in the fenzi one, a closed one for the group I was in in Sydney and one for NZ - but nothing more open and general. I don't think. Hrm... PK.... Back when we did more I always just used "all done" with palms out/down - which is something we use a lot. Harness on and off too - always and boxes were always put up and away out of sight. It was my understanding that - especially when you're on odour that they're less likely to hunt all the time and on the occasion they do - like when they think they want to search a car outside of NW - you just need to move them on. Have you introduced the cue/go word yet? If not - that might help. I don't think any of that specifically helps - especially because Mal is... um... a very special boy ;) (you know I mean that lovingly) - Luckily Scottie only ever searched when he was doing NW. All that said - we've only done basic NW recently and since Scottie has gone deaf the "no more / all done" didn't really work - he wanted to keep going. edited to add - I'll ask in the closed Fenzi group I'm member of if they have any ideas.

For those of you who don't know Peta's work - she's done lots of impressive work but it includes being the animal trainer for Babe and Legally Blonde the musical (she owns the two chis used for the Aussie production ). I also think she's done some fre flight work with birds at Taronga.

ha ha ha - my last dog used to 'skip' when she was in trouble & Scottie, my current boy, likes to carry his food off and eat in private. Really hope you get to the bottom of this.

:) I'm so glad I did it - have done it - Am doing it. :D I love looking over them all as a group- I think I'll print them into a photo book at the end of the 12 months as a bit of a memento to my first 12 months in En Zed.

I know it's not static - but another DOLer once told me directing a fan on the dog helps in storms. Since Scottie has gone deaf he can't hear a lot of the loud bangs he's normally react to and we don't seem to get the level or frequency of storms (at least in my region) here in NZ compared to Sydney.

Juice - i use ziwipeak for treats their "kibble" not their treats - if that makes sense. Its not a low fat option, but, there's not much smell, they're palatable & while expensive a similar price per kilo to smackos. AND ... when we used to do a big session it replaced his kibble portion of his meal entirely that day. Even now, we dont go to training anymore, if he cant be walked we do tricks & low level obedience for "one scoops worth of time" thats his dinner & more than long enough to tire him out.
