It's technically one a week - but so long as it's not more than 52 I think there is flexibility in how strict it is. Any subject, theme, what ever floats your boat.

2/52: One of these things is not like the other.

1/52: The hydrangeas in town are so much more vibrant than anything I can recall seeing at home.

How Far Do You Walk Your Older Dogs?
Scottsmum replied to phantomreptiles's topic in General Dog Discussion
And no, she definitely has NOT shown signs previously. We walk very late or very early to avoid the heat. Oh and it could be the accumulation of hot days - as you know hust because you avoid walking in the heat if the day doesn't mean that the heat doesn't have an impact. -
I have read (and have never found the reference since) that if you feed raw eggs - including the shell - you can't over feed them. Raw, including the shell is 100% balanced, high in protein, calcium & tge shell counters something in the egg (one of the B vitamins i think). I've never tested the theory but it kind of makes sense to me. In winter I feed them (cooked) to Scottie fairly often as he doesn't like them raw. I just fry them sunny side up with the smallest amount of coconut oil then mix it into his kibble so its all warm & gooey. He loves it. That counts as his meat / protein for that meal. Fairly off topic - I've never understood why scrambled would be better for humans or dogs as you add milk (and other things for oeople) but so long as you dont smother them in oil, fried is just 100% egg.... My both my parents have fed eggs to dogs for years & mum often mixes an egg flip (egfs, milk, so on) kind of thing for her pups when they're starting on solids. (Edit: Scott is obviously not a puppy)

How Far Do You Walk Your Older Dogs?
Scottsmum replied to phantomreptiles's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'd be off to the vet for a seniors check up & blood panel. The two times (recently) my boy suddenly showed signs he was off - once with increased liver enzyme count & more recently we gave him a course of arthritis shots. He perked up pretty much immediately in both cases. He still insists on walks twice a day but sometimes if he's had a big week or I think he's tired I change up his walks so they're less physically taxing - like a wander in the local gardens so he can sniff - not power walk. To answer your question We walk as far as he wants or can at a pace he's comfortable with. We don't tick off a pre-determined route twice a day anymore. Thats for sure. I'm a bit of a helicopter parent with my oldies, now, as my last dog "slowed down" and I simply accepted it as aging but she was really unwell & I didn't realize. Once the vet cottoned on to it at her annual check up we medicated her & she perked up considerably (went from slow & lethargic back to being able to get on the bed unassisted!) But it was too late by then and that really was the beginning of the end for her. Of course - it could just be the heat but for the cost of the consult & a blood panel I'd be finding out & if all is well then you have a base line. -
Nah. I passed on a heap of info to the owner and left it at that for now.

Yes! I keep saying it's like another world underwater. The split thing is really easy to do with this set up, I could only ever fluke it with the point and shoot Olympus. These have only had a lr edit and on some I've used the Nik software. But no composites ???? Didn't think it for a second - I know better :) Really love them :)
-
That is how I squished Amber's kibble when I wanted to make it into a powder. It is errr good therapy too! I'm sure it would be :)
-
The ones taken in the pool are really magical. There's something really ***fantastical*** about them... If I didn't know better I'd swear they were photoshop composites. That third one especially (3.45, 5th Jan) -Love it.

could you also pop it in a plastic/freezer bag and just whack it with a meat tenderiser?

Hip Dysplasia Treatments In Sydney
Scottsmum replied to Cuko13's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I second this :) -
A heart murmur is just a noise in the heart and it can sometimes be totally harmless and can go away all by itself. Othertimes it may be an indication of a leaky heart valve which can sometimes (not always) go on to become heart failure which is of course serious. I know because I had a heart murmur and I have been one of the unlucky ones who needed surgery to replace my mitral valve. People who have a leaky valve can mostly lead normal lives. They just need to take penicillin when they have dental work done because any germs from tooth decay once they enter the blood stream go straight to the heart valves where they can cause infection. I would imagine that for a dog with a murmur dental care would be very important. I would love to know what Rappie said. I didn't ask Rappie for advice just contact details so we didnt have to make an appointment for "Dr Rappie" lol - should they choose to see her

What To Put In Iceblocks For Dogs Please?
Scottsmum replied to Dogs Are Forever's topic in General Dog Discussion
I dont use kongs - I use small containers or even old milk containers - what ever is on hand and make up a few in one go so they're ready to be popped out when I need one. I've done the following - in many variations: Fruit - Blueberries are good. Veg is good too - but I only use veg he really loves - so corn, peas. Tuna + "tuna juice" Off cuts from meat when preparing human dinner (chuck it all in your "iceblock container" over several nights & freeze - then just top off with liquid when its full) Kibble, liver treats, other treats. If you put kibble + liver treats in the same one the liver sinks and the kibble floats & you get a yummy double banger with stuff on each end. Yoghurt Have never tried peanut butter as my dog doesnt like it. -
SM, I had a little lump removed from my leg some months ago. Turned out it was “questionable” and I was given a chemotherapy cream to apply for a few weeks and then another visit to the skin specialist in a couple of months time. He said to me that to have it cut out would cause more problems than were worth it because of where it was. Might be the same for this little dog. Not much room for any sort of excision clearance in dogs’ legs. Still worth seeing a specialist though, I would have thought. Yeh -Not questioning not removing it so much - have had a few lumps taken off legs in my time. Why do the foxies in my life like to get questionable lumps on their legs? Little buggers! Was more questioning the wisdom of "if its malignant we'll just stir it up and we can't really get it off anyhow..." I mean - if its not malignant I'd like to know so we can not worry so much - and if it is - well at least brace myself. I'll mention the cream to the owner. Thanks again DDD :)

Sadly its a bit more like "more kibble, less foie gras" - and I'm only partly joking! Her human daddy spoils her rotten! Thanks for the hints too - feeling a bit more prepared to have the conversation now. Unfortunately it's our darling Jem - so might as well be Scotland in some ways :/

I do the same with Flikr - send photos from my phone to my flickr account them grab the link (they give you a bbs option to post here) and put photos up that way :)
