  1. Yeh - they're the ones K9 Pro sell & I notice they're on sale at the moment http://k9pro.com.au/silver-shade-mesh-tarp/
  2. Week 6 (?) "Clients" It was a toss up between 3 this week. One is fairly generic so I might recycle it later in the year.
  3. Think it's new here too - they're flogging it in sponsored posts on facebook - which is how I found out about it. You're right on the meat/meal thing... but...protein in bold below (and that's just the obvious stuff - wonder how bio-available lentil protein is to dogs) De-boned turkey, potato flour, apples, pea fibre, peas, potatoes, tomato, sundried alfalfa, canola oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols), natural flavour, salmon, de-boned duck, coconut oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols), whole dried egg, flaxseed, carrots, pumpkin, bananas, blueberries, cranberries, raspberries, blackberries, papayas, pineapple, grapefruit, lentil beans, broccoli, spinach, cottage cheese Vs The meat in his current bag of VIP / Natures goodness. Meat (Kangaroo, meat & meal, Poultry, beef & lamb meals) ... chicken digest... egg I think I like that the meats are described & not "meal" (have horrid memories of meat meal from when I was a kid) - that said, the VIPis 2% higher in protein, but yes, he gets fresh meat daily and the occasional can or sachet or dog roll depending on what's on sale (usually human quality meat). Kibble is only part of this diet.
  4. I'd just find a barrier - like i said earlier - shade thing from Kmart or even some polystyrene to keep the sun off of while you're parked.
  5. Yup - I did say I wasn't sure if it was in Oz, but we're in NZ and it's available to us. Sorry - should have been clearer. I just assume people know that. ;)
  6. Interesting point Roova. I've never shown Scottie where the hide is, but in the early stages it was kind of OK to cough or kick a box or stand in the general area if we knew (or the instructor) told us where the hide was. I think the other thing is you have to remember that even if we know the scent is in a particular spot we have no F'ing idea how that odour is actually behaving - so it's better for us to have a protocol in place which lets the dog re-search the area rather than rely on us show them. & hopefully they don't get too stressed with that.
  7. K9 Pro has shade covers for crates. You could also try jerry-rigging some kind of barrier with one of those foil reflective windscreen covers from k-mart or the like???
  8. Thinking of swapping to a new dry. Senior grain free can be hard to find, tried a sample bag this week. Mr Fussy bum ate it happily and it didn't appear to cause a change in stools or upset his stomach or "gunge" his eyes up. It's called "Now Fresh" Senior (Grain Free) by Petcurean - which is a Canadian company and it's manufactured in Canada. Currently feeding VIP grain free - which he likes well enough - but goes off occasionally and he'll only eat one of the flavours (the orange one, he doesn't like the purple one). Have tried a lot of other grain free dry which he has refused point blank. It gets 4 stars on pet food review. Ingredients: De-boned turkey, potato flour, apples, pea fibre, peas, potatoes, tomato, sundried alfalfa, canola oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols), natural flavour, salmon, de-boned duck, coconut oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols), whole dried egg, flaxseed, carrots, pumpkin, bananas, blueberries, cranberries, raspberries, blackberries, papayas, pineapple, grapefruit, lentil beans, broccoli, spinach, cottage cheese, alfalfa sprouts, dried kelp, calcium carbonate, dicalcium phosphate, lecithin, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, vitamins (vitamin E supplement, L-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate (a source of vitamin C), niacin, inositol, vitamin A supplement, thiamine mononitrate, d-calcium pantothenate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin, beta-carotene, vitamin D3 supplement, folic acid, biotin, vitamin B12 supplement), minerals (zinc proteinate, ferrous sulphate, zinc oxide, iron proteinate, copper sulphate, copper proteinate, manganese proteinate, manganous oxide, calcium iodate, selenium yeast), taurine, DL-methionine, L-Lysine, glucosamine hydrochloride, dried chicory root, dried Lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product, dried Enterococcus faecium fermentation product, dried Aspergillus niger fermentation product, dried Aspergillus oryzae fermentation product, yeast extract, yucca schidigera extract, chondroitin sulphate, marigold, L-carnitine, dried rosemary. (PS - Not entirely sure if this is in OZ - but it is available here).
  9. I saw this the other day. I'd love one to turn into the "Scott-mobile"
  10. Thought I'd share this from K9 nosetime in Sydney: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1347685451956934&id=494769087248579 "Our next term of classes will begin the first week of March in a variety of locations. The Online class registrations will open Feb 5th at https://www.k9nosetime.com/upcoming-events/ If you do not live close enough to attend classes, we highly recommend Kim Buchanan, online K9 Nose Work® courses. Here’s a little bit about Kim Buchanan, CNWI who offers ONLINE K9 Nose Work® education at joyridek9.education. I feel a little silly posting this since I feel like I've been around forever but I realize not everyone knows who I am, so... I am a founding member of K9NW, one of the first 7 CNWI with NACSW, Certifying Official and Judge, senior faculty, behind the scenes, etc. with the Education AND Trial divisions of NACSW, had the very first NW3 and NW3 Elite dog (Miss Emmy!) and now I have TWO of the Elite dogs currently standing in the top 15 for the NACSW National Invitational this year. So yes, I've been around a bit. To learn more, please go to http://joyridek9.education/enrollment/
  11. I don't find freezer bags leak any more than just condensation coming off them as they defrost, which happens with container too. I do find that the "meat juice" (watery blood - I suppose) pools in the bottom of the bags, but again, no worse than a container. Either way, to combatthe meat juice I add a tiny bit of chia seed to soak up the liquid - seems to go down well with Scottie and adds some extra fibre to his diet.
  12. So glad you popped in. Saw a silly video of an Iggy with a chew the other day & thought of your lot.
  13. Great shots - @BDJ - Hilarious perspective on your brothers dog.
  14. I'm not sure how long they've been going but they were well established before I left NSW - so I'd say at least 2 years Actually... I googled it - they've been around since 2013 http://www.rescueresourcensw.com.au/home/our-story-2/ They also have a deal with some Telstra shops to accept donations in store.
  15. If you don't get any takers you could post them to https://www.facebook.com/RescueResourceNSW/
  16. @Roova - Are they friend or foe? Also I need a new SD card for my phone - it's full of photos of Scottie - so I kind of, somewhat, feel your pain!
  17. Week 5: We had a big cuddle this morning because I had *nothing* to do and it was delicious! Also his face reminds me of "Starry night" here
  18. Week 4: We have this thing in town called "Palmy Rocks" where people basically paint, hide, find & re-hide or keep rocks. I usually just admire them but I loved this little dude soo much I took him home after my dog walk recently. I may or may not re-hide him.
  19. I use ziploc bags - which I admit to not washing - bad, I know but it ikks me out. I also use chinese take away conteiners (I bought a heap from Woolies) and they work well too. I do wash them out & just replace as needed - but thats not often.
