  1. Oh lordy. Our dogs really dont know how good they've got it!
  2. "...We fed him devon from coles..." Please don't say that was a real line???
  3. I think in this scenario you did the best you could. Survival & a stress panic kicks in ... so yay for avoiding that.
  4. Fair enough @RuralPug. Regardless of who Papa was - she's lovely.
  5. Pretty girl. I knew a long haired chi who got to a GermanShepherd bitch once. Anything is possible. ..
  6. Thanks Katdogs. We were lucky to have him too.
  7. Sometimes Im sure I've replied & tge response isnt there. Thought it was me. Glad he's 'home' & resting.
  8. Kinda almost looks like a borzoi gone wrong (very wrong) LOL Actually I take that back after watching this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuGcV5NlHtA&feature=youtu.be
  9. NOPE! Not coming anywhere near you while he still needs a home. 'Specially if he's a wizzer!
  10. I couldn't be further from an expert on the matter, I might call my self an amateur if I was being kind.... but yes. I always rewarded my dog with a treat or a bit pet or big over the top cuddle & fuss - which was *just* higher value than a treat. He would work for nothing - except toward the end - I'm not sure if it was achy joints or a declining brain or a combo of both or possibly just him being a stubborn old man LOL.... But in his healthier days he always appreciated a reward. And who can blame him. I don't do to work for nothing and I love being acknowledged. So why expect them to work for nothing?
  11. I'm not asking for that much ... just you know... daily stories & photos. So much easier if he just stays with you. Like I said, very soft spot for SDCH terriers
  12. So that's why you should keep him. That and I want to watch his adventures with you because I can't have him.
  13. No probs - I didn't get it right first go either - I just knew she had slightly different spelling.
  14. Nope - Shes's still active - I know at least one person currently using her. Try Dr Kersti Seksel ;) http://sabs.com.au/staff_profiles.htm
  15. The longest I've ever been without a dog in my life is 6 months... Otherwise they've always overlapped.... but.... It was a rough ride last time and the housing market over here is currently not at all pet friendly. My boss (is a head of section at a well known university) couldnt get a place because she has 2 elderly cats. You see & hear about it all the time. So we'll see... Anyhow, the lovely young man above is so out of the realms of possible it's not funny - but I could always live vicariously through DDD
  16. Yes - I saw that and wondered what the deal is.... I hope they haven't started counting passing on to other rescues as "re-homes" ??? Regardless, you're right - I'm very glad there is an ocean between us right now. :D
  17. Oh - I just looked Stevie up and it says he has a home. Hope that's right. http://sydneydogsandcatshome.org/animal/stevie/ He really is cute!
  18. Oh. He's gorgeous! And of course, I have a very soft spot for SDCH dogs xxx Happy Fostering.
  19. I wonder is @sas is around at the moment?
  20. Might be worth a separate post - you might grab a few others who have "eyeball experience" I think an ophthalmologist could be a good choice, but I honestly don't know if I would go down the surgery path with a dog that age.
  21. Enna - I can suggest a facebook group if you like - please PM me if you'd like its name. However, it comes with a warning - they're quite a devoted group of owners and I suffered a big of carers fatigue and guilt while I was there. They go over and beyond and (in my view) too far. As I said above, in my (limited, but current) experience, there are a number of factors, what works once might not work again, drugs may need to continue to be upped or changed. There are a number of natural or alternate treatments which can help- but as PK says - "please don't give any calming/anxiety treats or supplements without consulting a vet. They can interact dangerously with prescription medications, negating their effects or causing worsening illness or other problems.:" My suggestion is to start researching & get to a point where you can ask your vet what they think of X or Y...
