  1. No solid advice except think about the words you'll use. Leave it is great, but I used "drop" for "down" and later wanted drop to = drop it (give is a nice alternative) Anyhow - thats my 2 cents worth.
  2. I've had foxie cross (mutts) my entire life. Never owned a yapper, but Ice iwned some real d**ks with other dogs. I certainly allowed "little dog syndrome" before I knew better. Luck of the draw really, but I say with total bias, they make amazing family pets. That said I also had a papered Jack Russell & Id be wary of going there again. He was a pain in the butt & its no wonder he was rehomed with us.
  3. I think it takes a very special person to foster full stop and an "even more specialer" one not foster fail. I don't think I'd have it in me to foster - and I'm sure I'd fail with the first. Of course you'll miss them - they seem like lovely little pooches and you've poured your heart and soul and time into having them. Glad to hear it sounds like they both have great homes. The best possible outcome!
  4. Im a bit behind. Week um ??? (24)
  5. They're adorable @Canisbellum
  6. Ah @Zombie Bait - you went through such an intense time with Brembo It does get easier. Not sure how or when, but it does.
  7. They're awesome! Good job clever clogs!
  8. This one is my fb profile pic at the moment. Gets me every time.
  9. On a very rare occasion Scottie woukd look like Guin, my last girl, & it would make me catch my breath. Knew this time who's be hard as its hubbys first work trip since scottie went.
  10. Oh @animallover99 you're so right on many counts. Missing him a lot this week (hub is away & its just me on my own) but it was the right thing.
  11. @wild_rose Have you considered or looked for therapy organisations which might be able to find a place for your son to interact with dogs? You could use it as a way to see if he's really interested and also as a tool to help him learn to interact with them while you hunt for the perfect fit for you family. Something like this: https://www.deltasociety.com.au/pages/classroom-canines.html or this: http://storydogs.org.au/ His interaction with these dogs would be very closely monitored to ensure he doesn't hurt them Or even this - http://rdansw.org.au/ Also- yes this is a horse organisation, but i'm listing it because it might fill the "interact with animals" aspect I feel you're looking for and you've already said he rides at the local city farm - so maybe there is room for him in an environment where they cater for people with various needs.
  12. I know this is a serious thread, but I keep reading the subject as "careers for desperate koolies"... Ok, Ill show myself the door now.
  13. It's really tough when they get old Try getting in touch with @Jumabaar https://www.primalpaws.com/ - if she's not likely to be in your area soon she can possibly recommend someone closer.
  14. Not so much a random - as it was "therapy dog day" at work (I work at a uni and once a semester they run "Stress free study week"._ Anyhow... I meet this floofer...Also known as a Black Russian Terrier. 2017-06-07_06-05-47_34764807970_o by Superspanger, on Flickr Inked2017-06-07_06-05-12_35020250981_o_LI by Superspanger, on Flickr
  15. "Naughty" can be such a subjective term. I was a naught child but fine around animals. Might be worth having a chat to some breeders & organisations & being very upfront & honest about what "naughty" is in this context. That said if the child is too young to reason with or unlikely to respect the pet Id wait. I would also NOT recommended a cat as someone further up did.
