  1. Is that the park in Balcombe Heights? I got married on that reserve - watched the dogs there on afternoon when I was up there prepping for the wedding - menace of a park - would never go there in a million years. (well, the owners we all lax to say the least)
  2. Flansburgh is a much better name than John! and yes we had our next breed picked out when our pup was 6 months old, she's 1.5 now and we're still planning the new dog for another 6-12 months time. Tentative name was picked out ages ago too Sounds lilt there might be another TMBG fan here ;) Yes I agree Flansburgh is a better name, also my Dad and hubbys grandfather are both John so it can't be a pet name here :)
  3. Our weaving poles loo like a giant swing set with poly tube on them. OK distance - but dog would have to be a good weaver to use it :)
  4. Found this link when looking for images of my local agility / off leash. Its all SA based :) http://tailsofftheleash.com.au/parks/view-all-parks/ Here is some info relatively local to me (I live right on the boarder of two councils and quite close to a third. 2/3 are very dog friendly. http://www.canterbury.nsw.gov.au/Community/Pets-and-Animals/Dog-friendly-parks-with-off-leash-areas No images of the one near by to me. From memory it has: Weaving poles a hoop (solid, too high, danergous as listed above) a tunnel, bridge, 2 jumps - good height and distance plenty of room to run. a good hill 1 seat for hoomans dog bowl (and mud bath) bin and baggies double / airlock gate. We stopped going because Scottie liked 'flopping' in the mud after a hard run + people weren't picking up their poo and he was skidding in it when playing a rough game of fetch + it is/was crowded and his recall got good enough to trust him to come back. (knock on wood I didn't just jinx myself)
  5. yes - I can see that :) Chunky little man lives up to his namesake. Didn't know flans was a cat man :)
  6. Its always been that way for me - Pups, kittens, fish, birds, foals. They have a name or look like something when you meet them. (and now I kinda sound like a hippy)
  7. So did I... and I did. Meet Flansburgh, aka Flansy. Officially known as BYMYSIDE Sleeping N The Flowers :D The obvious question remains... I know my reasons, but why do you want to use the name Flansburgh? Actually I think I saw his name the other day and wondered if it was the same reference but was too lazy to ask. It's a TMBG reference. I prefer JL as a songwriter, but I think JF has the cooler name. ;) P.s. What a cute fat face :D
  8. Have never done a site by site comparison but vetnpetdirect are usually good
  9. Georgie is a nice girls name :) I never name pets until I've met them - I can't! I worry that when I finally have a human baby it won't "look" like the names I have picked (George for a boy - LOL - Its a family thing on my hubbys side, and Amanda May if its a girl). I've always wanted to call a pet 'Flansburgh' but haven't met the right one yet.
  10. I use this for Scottie - http://innerhealth.com.au/content/product/inner-health-plus-dairy-free Yoghurt makes no change to him + he will sometimes refuse it. Hasn't refused this yet. (I open the capsule and mix it in his wet. One tablet, most days. 10 kilo foxie.)
  11. I'd be leaving him on what ever gives him solid poos while you try and sort it out - e.g. if Z/D is giving him the trots its got no more value to it then cardboard. If you're getting solid poos from chicken and rice - start there. Nothing worse then constantly having the trots. ;) Scottie gets the squirts on a number of foods. One of the only non-squirt meals here is a (particular brand and flavour) supermarket wet food or raw chicken mince mixed with a little dry + an inner health plus (which I remove from the capsule) A few other things I've picked up with my first ever reactive and fussy dog: *read as much as possible here and other places - as much time as you can spare - read - everything you can lay your eyes on *Find that base food that works for your dog and dont worry too much about going back to it often - low nutritional meals like white rice and chicken are by far better then the runs *get a double and triple opinion - if the bloods and other tests are clear try looking for a nutritionist who might be able to help *practice good hygiene - yes - I know they're dogs. Yes it probably more for me but I wash Scotties bowl immediately in hot soapy water when he's done with it. Remove any left over food, chuck anything which is dubious. I very strictly subscribe to "if I wont eat it, nether will he' (especially with left overs - not so much on the supermarket wet which he loves...) Good luck :) Hopefully Erny or others will be a bit more help than I. (Erny did have a great post /update the other day)
  12. (I'm about to make a totally pointless post but... ) He's very handsome.
  13. Update on complaint 2: The dog(s) finally stopped about 11:30 last night. I may or may not have called the cops late in the evening to see if they could do anything over the weekend. They said they're try to send a car around to check on the welfare of the dogs. I notice this morning that the "run" it/ they were in is open. Silence all day thus far.
  14. Some times they travel - maybe they'd do an intense clinic over 2 days or something if there was enough demand? I did read one blog where a lady taught her self (and the dog). Will see if I can find it.
  15. Update: We had our first class today - it was fantastic! Good class, really lovely staff, lots of happy dogs and two repeat customers / clients in my class of 4 (which I always think is a great sign). Scottie gave it 4 paws up - the nice man hid chickens in a box and let him eat it. Scotties only complaint was that he had to wait for his go... On a slightly different note: close to 2.5 hours (total) in the car and Scottie didn't puke! Go Scottsmith!
  16. Reminds me of when we computerised while I was vet nursing - people were offended that we didn't have labradoodle as a listed breed and very upset that it had to be lab x or poodle x. Gave up trying to explain that we could only put "real" breeds in the computer - not every 'oodle x creation which walked through the door (it was at the peak of oodle-ism)
  17. I'm considering it if that bloody dog doesnt can it! (on the owner, not the dog. I'd never harm a dog)
  18. Have you tried the K9 Natural food from Pet Barn? It is similarish to Ziwi in that it is freeze dried chunks. http://www.petbarn.com.au/dogs/dog-food-dry/dry-food/k9-natural-freeze-dried-lamb-feast-dog-food.html Yes - he would physically avoid the bowl, spat out any I could get in his mouth, the smell made me feel ill and I didnt feel safe playing "wait and see" with it. Gave it away on here and the user who took it said his dogs thought it was just OK. :)
  19. Urgh. Seem to be surrounded by it at the moment! We're on an odd battle axe block which means we share a fence with at least 4 others. Then 2 nights ago I got home after Hubby and he said that a new dog had been barking all evening -I commented I'd seen 2 new kennels and we assumed it was coming from there. We noticed last night they've put a big construction fence up along the back of their (very large) yard - it appears they're keeping at least one dog behind the fence. Today I'm home sick and same thing - constant barking. They know there's a probelm - I saw one of the guys telling it to "shut the F%*k up" earlier today. Will drop an anonymous note in their letter box (they don't strike me as the nicest people) if it keeps up. Sound echos badly around here - its doing my head in. Hope its only temporary. On that note - Just call me Mrs BusyBody or Esme Watson :D edited.
  20. I'll jump in and say that in the 7 months I've had Scottie he has reliably eaten approx 5 things - Ziwipeak, chicken mince, one supermarket brand of wet food, 2 supermarket brands of grain free. He has gone off all of the above at various times so I rotate him through all of the above with extra protein and other yummy goodies (cheese, yoghurt, bones) to try and temp / keep him full. I'm happy you started the thread Yonjuro as I feel like I need to keep searching for the holy grail (I think its Ziwi for us - shame it costs so much or i'd put him on the wet too). I'll keep crumbling the Sunday pets though his wet/mince until the packet is gone as it's not making his eyes mucky or his tummy explode and he hasn't outright rejected it (as he did with the k9 nautral tripe which he flatly refused - wouldnt even go near the bowl). Just one of the challenges of owning a fussy dog who needs to be grain free. Will update when the pack is closer to empty.
  21. Its on rotation in our house - Fussy pants occasionally consumes it. Doesnt cause upset tummy or any thing else.
  22. oh dear.... tired as I am I read that as Scott eats the spolid poo. Sorry, Scott! I know you are really genteel. I bet he's totally chow down on "kitty crunches" (as I said them called the other day) given half a chance.
