1. I came across this today and I really really want one! From: http://pawcurious.com/topic/blog/
2. We're fortunate enough to have family but weekends/ holidays are always negotiated euthanasia the "baby sitter" eg at Xmas I stay at my parents place and mind the cats then leave the dog with them for a few days.
3. What for exactly? I have a fantastic person I use for general obedience (we go to a group class weekly). They're based in the Inner West and I really lie their style. http://www.procanine.com.au/index.html
4. This is all I know about him: http://sydneydogsandcatshome.org/animals-for-adoption/dogs/?category=for%20adoption&animal=5987
5. Ah. Dear old kitty. Sorry to hear your sad news.
6. I've just spent at least an hour skimming over this tread. All I can say is a grinned like an idiot when you kept the "dog with spots on it's nose" (I noted you only had 2 dogs when you started, wondered how long it would take to add the third in your signature  ) and wow. You've done so much for these dogs.
7. Complete half-wit. Glad your boy is OK. Hope the other's aren't too badly shaken up.
8. I've been following this thread too. I'm very very happy you found her. :)
9. I was using Guins old lead for Scottie but just put it away the other day :) I put it in her box, wth a few other things. It does get easier, with time. Big hugs to you.
10. YEP. I hear ya. That pure unadulterated "oh you're awake", "Oh yay you're home", "Yippee, give me a pat" worth every second. Love my boy.
11. You must have had a scare. Glad everyone was OK. You absolutely did the right thing sending her home!
12. I think it's on lead -but not 100% sure of of the rules. The "Cafe" is actually a refurbished canteen attached to the cricket ground and as such, the counter of the cafe is very close to a play ground. Most people have their dogs on lead around the front and let them off around the back of the building. I might call the council, I have some time this week, and have a chat. You're right about the first incident too - we were just as much at fault - pretty sure I said that up there. Hubby learnt a very valuable lesson too. He's been a trillion times more receptive to my suggestions since then. I couldn't imagine the feelings you'd have if you felt that your partner had been responsible for the death of a pet. and yep - RiverStar-Aura - I'm going to clump this guy in with the parking and speeding find whingers!
13. Had another altercation at the same park today. We didn't get bitten but it shook me up. The park in question is about half way between home and sunday morning obedience. It's also on the direct route I take and the only place to get coffee on a sunday morning without deviating. It's also really nice coffee. So today I popped in on my way to class and as I was talking towards the building I noticed a large black dog off lead with no owner in sight. Nothing too unusual, I noted it and figured I could get in and out without any trouble if I needed to. I turn the corner and there is the owner with a huge Am-Staff, also off lead, about 100 meters from the cafe. Scottie wags his tail, I order my coffee and we continue to sniff some trees. Then the Staffy and the big black dog (a rotty) come bounding up and Scottie growls. The continue to crowd him and the owner is again, out of sight, I call out to the owner (who had seen me - we'd smiled at each other) and I said can you call your dogs off please. He says "they're OK" and I said, "no, they're really not". Long story short - I had to yell at him to come and get his dogs, while he was telling me that "this is all your fault, your dog has attitude". To which I very quicky and strongly said Oh no, you can not blame this on me. My dog is on leash and I asked you to remove them. He tried to make amends from there but it was too late. It really left me shaken. At one stage he even tried to tell me that "Poko (not sure which one that was) is really good with other dogs" and he was probably trying to tell your dog (Scott)that everything was OK" It's not often that I feel threatened by dogs but it was one step from very nasty. I think I'm going to have to stop going there Which is a real shame because as I said, convenient and great coffee.
14. And graduating from Scent Sports Lvl 1 :)
15. It's been a while since I shared photos. Mainly because there is a reasonably common theme at the moment. It's too cold and dark for too many happy snaps... We have a cold (very very cold) house. This is currently the view I'm treated to most evenings. It's kind of hard to tell in that photo but his feet are about 30cm from the edge of the bed.... which puts him smack bang where my knees SHOULD be... But he is a good house dog. He knows that the trade off to sleeping in the people bed is helping the peoples make the people bed And I just love this photo because he reminded me soooooo much of Guinea who used to sleep like this almost year round - with just her little nose poking out for fresh air. It made me grin from ear to ear when I saw him sleeping like this because he is nothing like her (maybe looks a bit like her from certain angles when he's sleeping). Anyhow - when I stopped to talk to him I realised his tail was out the other end (its started wagging) :D Guin never had that luxury her little tail was docked. and ... just one more to prove he does leave the bedroom. Today in Scent class. Just FYI - Some times its too cold to do anything or go anywhere. Today was one of those days. HOWEVER... Harness over the jumper? Totally useless! About as attractive as socks and sandals and a lot less useful.
