I found round 1 interesting - I learnt a lot. But that could have been from the combo of reading & watching the forums, interacting with others on facebook (Debbie also pops into the lurkers group which is lovely). I wont have much chance to use the forums this round but really hope I learn a bit more. Eventually I'll try to do the exercises - a combo of being time poor in general due to uni and work and my inexperience really holds me up but we're just plodding through. I can't wait until work and uni settles and I can do a conditioning course face to face with a real person.

I'd be calling council and getting a ranger out there on a regular basis. Not on. At all.

What Do You Say When You See A Dog Being Mistreated?
Scottsmum replied to BarbedWire's topic in General Dog Discussion
I know of a situation where the neighbours often feed, wash, flea, water and walk the dog next door. It escapes regularly and once was returned fully groomed (by a complete stranger). The neighbours also successfully stepped in and rehomed an animal who had been found and kept by the same family. In this case, they had good intentions but just couldnt care for the animal in question. It's different with the dog, it's just downright lazy, disgusting apathy - they just don't give 2 flying figs about the poor thing. The neighbours who keep an eye on the dog in question have stepped in at times - telling the "adults" of the family to pull their socks up. They also leave instructions for house sitters to keep an eye out the dog - it's name, that it's OK to pick it up if you see it on the street, that the dog is allowed in the back yard if they find it. So terribly sad. -
They're lovely shots

Important Request For Allerzoit And Grumpette

Now there's one back yard which was never broken into.... -
we tried the sunday pets dried ones - no go. Fussy bum didnt like them. Then we got a packet of capsules from the health store - split one of them over his food when every I remember (4//5 times per week) and he's more then content to eat that.

he grumbles - and I can make him grumble with a good scratch or chest rub... But he also "purss" on his own when sleeping. too cute. :) Now, as for a barking cat...sounds interesting :D

Important Request For Allerzoit And Grumpette

Stop it! I can't handle the cute. -
Week 4 is up. Haventhad a chance to read it as I am ***supposed*** to be finishing off a uni assignment I feel like this week I'll be able to really start as we registered for the class late then quickly discovered I needed help with teaching "stand" - I did look up up on youtube, it seemed easy but I was missing something. Comically it did lead to a very cute session with Scottie bunny hopping / bum scooting across the lounge room. Anyhow, we went back to obedience today (after being rained out last week). He gets it - I just have to work on my timing now so yeh. Also joined the facebook group but have been away from facebook as I am "supposed" to be studying. How's everyone else getting on?

Australian Adoption Documentary

We often "discuss" how lucky Scottie is to have a warm bed and he tells us how much better the couch is to a pen in the shelter. I'm sure he'd let you interview him if you promised to include some shots of him doing some "fully sick fetching". PS - love the first one where the dog hears something. :D -
I've been trying to catch the little bugger all week but it's quite hard as he usually only does it in bed when we either have the TV on (his bed, in the lounge room) or when he's in the bed room bed and he's too far away to be audible to my phone. We're in the study tonight with the heater on and I set my phone up next to him as he was 'grumbling' ... 5 minutes later, not a peep. Take the phone away... grumble ...grumble... GRUMBLE... He's the big foot of purring canines.

Tell Me One Thing You Just Love About Your Dog!
Scottsmum replied to raineth's topic in General Dog Discussion
Pretty much this. I couldn't pick between the non-stop tail wagging or the dummy spits at being "forced" to go home after a 90 minute fetch session -
I put it in bins out for bin night and very occasionally put it in bins left out - I'm an opportunistic deposit depositor.

I'm really interested - it was just bad timing (financially and time wise) after the last class. BUT want it documented - I wanna be there!

Interesting read on paws: http://www.mnn.com/family/pets/stories/18-things-you-didnt-know-about-dog-paws
-
oh. I use the pet pad heating disc thing as a hot water bottle too
-
Awesome. Also are there plans for another round of sat classes?
-
He grumbles and sighs and you can get them out of his quite easily - a rub or a cuddle is all that's needed. But...there is also a 'pur'. Only while he's sleeping. Very hard to catch as its often while we're all in bed so i wake him reaching for my phone.
