  1. I use ziwipeak or cheese or chicken or a combo of the above
  2. Scottie only gets his front legs. I used to wipe his legs down with a damp facewasher but dont bother any more. Maybe if Don just hits one spot you can give him a quick sponge bath More often?
  3. Oh. No advice. Just yuck :) Scottie manages to pee on his front legs and jackets but hes very particular about cleaning himself up & i dont think he smells.
  4. :) Very cute - I'm a bit scared of leaving anything on him that he cant easily wiggle out of - when I'm not around so his "day rug" needs to be a velcro fastened one similar to a horse rug - which obviously comes with limitations around fit. Unless of course you count this kind of rug - which absolutely falls into the "table cloth" or "shapeless piece of fabric" category.
  5. So... I went the "cheap" option to tide us over for the short term. We got a "dapper dog" coat off Gumtree for $10 http://pawspoint.com.au/dog-clothing-3/dog-coats-71/dapper-dog-coats-1064.html Must say I'm not overly impressed. He got into bed for morning cuddles this morning and while he wasn't cold he certainly wasn't as toasty as he usually is in his weatherbeeta. Plus he's already pee'd on the surcingle / tummy band - which is a big gross out for me and something he doesn't do with his Weatherbeeta. I'm willing to admit I might have had it on too loose around his shoulders and will make a call on it later but I might be donating it to the shelter - I don't like jumpers he accidentally pees on. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzQ-pEjoICGINkZsNlBKRVdDUzQ/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzQ-pEjoICGIaUFJOFZva0c5M2c/view?usp=sharing The other one I got was a Purina Wag wear - Haven't test driven it yet, looks OK, seems to fit a bit better than the WB - even though the cut is similar. Was a lot cheaper than the WB (from memory). Has reflective tape on it, a hole for a harness and velcro straps. Fleece lined (Vs. the WB poly lining - which doesn't hold hair) https://www.petlife.com.au/dogproducts/wagwear/size-guide/ - Got it from PetO in Alexandria for Sydney siders who are interested. $29 https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzQ-pEjoICGISFVwek9DMXdDM0E/view?usp=sharing His WB is the spotty one on top, new wagwear is on bottom. PetO had another brand / Style too - but I didnt grab it as it 'felt' less waterproof (it was listed as water resistant) and it had a bucket front - which I don't like - I much prefer velcro so he can get it off if he really wants / gets stuck on something. Anyhow, as I said, they'll do for the week I'm away - this week while he's in katoomba. I can sew hand have made him a day coat before (when i first got him when we had a cold snap)- May well spend some time making him a well fitting day jumper in the next uni break. thanks everyone for the feedback :)
  6. I saw some very tiny fuzz yard jumpers at PetO in Alexandria yesterday. Might be worth a google. Ill try to find a link for you later
  7. Wow! Never heard of that site. Looks dangerous!
  8. We have some super lovely hand made ones -pure aussie wool made to order - but he manages to pee on them so they're not practical! Will look at the other options as above. Ive looked at the hurrta ones before & what wver K9 pro stock. Big thanks for the suggestions & photos - theyre cute and educational - :) We are also off to pick up a "dapper dog" coat. Brand new, waterproof, with tag from gumtree for $10, which looks like it will be a suitable day rug & measures 42cm so it might be a good fit.
  9. Scottie is a strange shape so the WB actually fits amazingly well - best fit ive ever seen on a dog - except it's like 2 cm too short along his back :) Any other brand suggestions? I've looked at some online but its hard to know whats what online.
  10. Im in the market for a new coat or two. I have one waterproof weatherbeeta 40 cm. Which is great, a smidge too short but good in every other way. The 45 was way too big. Ideally I'd like a second waterproif jacket for walks & when the original is in the wash or drying (we walk rain or shine) and something a bit softer for around the house in general, as Scottie really feels the cold, needing a jacket 24/7 at some stages in winter & he'll be spending a bit of time in Katoomba this winter. So... ive found some ruffwear jackets & want to know if anyone uses them? Or should I stick to my trusty weatherbeetas?
  11. Thanks for explaining T. Sucks that people are being priced out of Tafe.
  12. Don't forget TAFE costs are on their way up (or have gone up) this year.
  13. Yep. I was going to suggest a trip to the camping store to look at earth mats or high density camp mats.
  14. Don't tell Scott but I think I might be in love
  15. Um. Sadly I've got a quickly escalating problem on my paws. Someone - lets just say his name *might* be Scottie - has been really naughty recently. It's kind of hard to discuss fully in a public forum, but, basically, things have changed a lot in the last 8 weeks. In the last 2-3 weeks I've noticed that he's been digging a lot on the couches and he's been chucking what I call tantrums - pulling things off the shelf in the hall. In the last week the tantrums have escalated and today I got home and he'd shredded a cardboard box. As I said above - things have changed a lot around here in the last 8 weeks but I'm trying really hard to make sure things are reasonably normal for him. He's still on his endep / amitriptyline - 10mg twice a day. He's still getting walked at least twice a day - a boring quick 15 minute walk around the block in the morning. At least 20-30 minutes to the off-leash for fetch in the evening. Long walks with the walker twice a week, longer walks with me when ever I can (Saturday mornings, we run at the off leash for as long it takes for me to finish a large coffee), sunday we still go to obedience. The biggest change here is the morning walk which used to be 30-60 minutes with off leash time. So..... I'm about to go on holiday next week and Scottie's supposed to be staying at home with our room mate - with the dog walker coming in twice a a day. Then I'm home for 5 days and I'm away for another week for uni. He's supposed to be going to my Aunt's where he'll be well looked after but will be getting a lot less exercise while he's there. I'm away for a week in Mid-May and in late May he and I are moving again - unfortunately for him to a space where he'll have to be a mainly outside dog. Help! What do I do in the short term??? (eg I leave for work on Wednesday morning and don't come home for 6 days)!!! Edited to add: I slept on it & we'll be off to our vet asap today as a very first step.
  16. Oh. Ive never heard of the breed. Just had a google. I'll have a small in smooth and wire and a large in wire. :)
  17. Team Dog are also geared uo to help in these situations (or so i believe )
  18. Ah. Little ones have a way of worming their way into the hearts of "big dog people"
  19. I love your photos Perse :) they're wonderful. But I do miss seeing Baby Don photos :)
  20. To be honest - I don't know, but I'm pretty sure she doesn't do more than 2 or 3 per walk and I have given the OK for her to walk him with other clients if she wants or needs to. She came highly recommended by a family member and I know Scottie ADORES her. She's very good with him and I've seen (well, heard) them interact when she hasn't realised I've been home. That being said, she was done a few things I haven't been such a huge fan of (feeding him smackos without permission, trying to clicker train him without running it past me). So .... hrm.... anyhow... We move and finish up with her in a few weeks but I really need her in the mean time So I'm just going to chalk this one up to dog's being dogs. He's fine thanks Perse. I suspect - now you lot have convinced me it's a bite - that maybe someone elses teeth got between him and his ball - he's very focused when that ball is around. She normally takes a soft toy to toss around and tug, not a ball so maybe it just got out of hand, er, paw? And yes - I do think what happens on walk stays on walk but as I said, he adores her and he's quite sensitive - if he didn't enjoy being around her I wouldn't keep using her. And as I said - I really need her at the moment. Lots going on in life which means his daily walks aren't always as wonderfully exciting as he thinks they should be.
  21. LOL Perse :) I've been following along on facebook too... I'm so in love with the whole litter.
