  1. I am going through this at the moment and its awful!!! It sounds like your pup is having a reaction to fleas! As some of the others said it can affect dogs differently! I have recently moved into a new rental with a lovely surprise! Its got fleas!! Poor Bailey is really suffering but it doesn't seem to worry Chelsea at all!! As everyone else has said I would bomb your house to get rid of them.....apart from that you are doing everything else right. I have found that Fido's stop itch shampoo helps quite well. Unfortunatly I am having trouble getting the fleas out of the environment but hopefully you will have more luck. Mel
  2. I would be letting her sleep in a crate in your bedroom as well, she will be much warmer and much happier Our pups both sleep in our bedroom in crates/beds...... Mel
  3. You probably just need to be patient with her She's only 10 weeks old so it might take a while...... I took me a couple of months to toilet train Chelsea with the same kind of problem but I did get there it just took some time.... Every time your pup wakes up, eats or finishes playing take her to the wee pad give her the command and keep trying. Put her back there if she wanders away. When she does do it in the right place praise her and give her a treat so she learns that by doing a wee there she will get a yummy treat!! It will work eventually but you will have to keep at it for while ) I successful toilet trained two dogs to go on a wee pad on a balcony in my unit, it was hard work and probably took a bit longer but it did work!! Mel
  4. I would probably go to the vet.............just to be sure........ Onions are not good for dogs either..... Mel
  5. Hi There, I didn't realise you were planning on showing your dog when I suggested a harness!! Sorry.... My dogs are both crosses so no chance of them being shown so the harness has been great for them as has stopped them pulling as well Mel
  6. We lived in an apartment when we first got Chelsea as well! I found that Chelsea felt really comforted by noise so try and leave the T.V or radio on, especially if you are leaving her alone..... Also, does she have access to her crate at all times? Chelsea made this her safe place in our apartment and always settled down there very easily. But, the more you pick her up when she starts to whine the worse it will get as she will think that she will get attention by whining so try as hard as you can to ignore her or distract her..... Mel
  7. She is so cute!!! When we got Chelsea she was a really cryer!! Sounds just like your little one...I guess for me I didn't have the issue of runny poo's so it was just a matter of ignoring it or distracting her with toys....... She has settled down now but I think she will always be a cryer especially if she is not sure of something.... She used to cry and cry on car trips which I used to get around by singing to her but she doesn't do it anymore which is good! She will settle in I promise just make her feel as safe as possible and try not to pander to the crying too much... Mel
  8. Have you tried a harness instead of a collar? This worked for my pups because the lead clips on from behind where it is harder for them to reach...... Mel
  9. T-Time, believe me I have tried it all including the watering can!! I think the place is truly infested!! My poor pups From what I have been told, giving the higher dose can not poison the pup at all (as long as it is within the bracket)...... As others have said though, just check with the vet......I know my vet always gives me the higher dose if the weight is border line...... Mel
  10. Your right Cavnrott, the person before us did have a dog and my pups have never had fleas so I almost died when I found them all over my pups!! I had the real estate agent get someone out to spray the house and garden but there are still fleas and its costing me a fortune in products!! We are also getting bites on us!! To be honest we are at the stage where we may break the lease because the place must be infested!! Surely we would have grounds to break it? Mel
  11. Revolution is what I use on my pups I swapped them to Sentinal but when we moved house the dogs got covered with fleas because sentinal does not kill adult fleas so just be careful of that one... Mel
  12. Hi There :D Have a look at the below link, there are a few different types of doggie wee pad type things! I think they would be great for your situation!!! Toilet solutions She is so cute!!!! OMG!! can I take her home!!! One of my pups is black too, it is so hard to get decent photos!!! As the suggestions above are great! My command for Chelsea is "Do a wee!" it took a while but she will now turn around and go and do a wee..... Mel
  13. Those stories are hilarous!!! Bailey is quite picky actually! He likes to jump up and strip the leaves off frangipani's but his favorite would have to be my lovely herbs!!! Not just any herbs mind you, he only likes Basil and Mint!! I came home to find my basil and mint eaten down to the root but the chives and parsley were not touched!! Picky boy!!! We ended up surrounding our plants with lattice but Bailey still managed to get his paw in to claw out all the soil!! Mel
  14. Hello There I would love to see pics of your puppy!!! We trained Bailey to go on a wee pad on the balcony of our unit and to be honest it was hard going but we did get there!! I found that Bailey loved to wee on carpet so I ended up putting plastic stripping down on the carpet until he was trained (you can buy this a bunnings). That way he couldn't smell previous accidents and the plastic wasn't so nice to go on so he started to use the one outside. I promise you it will happen!! You are doing everything right!! But I would say that sometimes I waited outside on the balcony for an hour before Bailey did a wee........ Also, have you tried giving her a treat when she does to a wee in the correct area? This worked really well for us!! You have to do it straight away as soon as she wee so she understands if she wee's in the right place she gets a treat. We walked around with doggie treats in our pockets for months!! One question, when you walk up do you carry her to the balcony with you? I did this with Bailey at first to make sure there were no accidents on the way and eventually he just went himself Goodluck and let me know if you have any questions!! I have toilet trained both my dogs to wee on a balcony successfully!! Mel
  15. I have just been through this after moving into a new house!! Did the pup have fleas when you got her? Or have you only just discovered them? I would be setting of a flea bomb in your house if I was you and if you think the problem is in the garden you might like to get the place professionally sprayed..... Mel
  16. Fido's Puppy and Kitten Wash!!! It smells divine and my dogs smell great all week!! Mel
  17. When we were in our unit we bought a special dog door and panel that sits in the recess of the sliding door and is udjustable to most heights. It then bolts into the door so your unit is still secure but your dog can get out. That way you don't have to cut into the door or wall and the best part is that you can take it with you when you leave!!! If you want the website PM me. Mel
  18. Just for the record, I have two Spoodles. Bailey being 18 months old gets groomed once a month, brushed everyday and washed once a week. Chelsea being only 4 months still has a puppy coat but gets brushed everyday and washed once a week. We are not all bad just because we own 'noodles'....... I have seen many many 'pure' breed dogs in very bad condition. Mel
  19. Thanks T-time, the will apparently spray inside the house, under the house and the backyard and shed so we should be covered!!! I have noticed that there are some doggy shampoo's that are made especially for itches, is that the best thing to use to help sooth my poor pups? Mel
  20. Morning All!! Thank you so much for all your help!! I bombed the house last night and treated the dogs and the landlord is going to pay for the property to be sprayed today which I am so happy about!!! I can't find any fleas on the dogs now, I know this doesn't mean they are not there but it is a vast improvement on yesterday! They are still scratching but I think this might be from the bites they already have on them? So things are on the upward tilt thank goodness!! Mel xx
  21. Hi There, We have just moved but I had two dogs both poodle crosses in a two bedroom with a Balcony. They were toilet trained to go on a wee pad on the balcony and they were walked twice a day. I was lucky enough to be able to go home at lunch time as well. My pups were fine in the unit! When I was at work they had the run of the living room and balcony with lots of toys!! ;)) As long as pups are walked enough they will be perfectly content living in a unit!! We just moved on the weekend to a house with a yard and all the pups want to do is get inside!!! I got the big yard for them!! Mel
  22. Just make sure the Frontline you have doesnt contain heartworm treatment as well - you dont want to double medicate your dog for heartworm! Thanks for that ravensmyst00, I just swapped the Frontline for Advantage which only does Fleas!!! Mel
  23. Thank you so much for your replies everyone ;)) I think I just went into panic mode this morning (as you do) but I'm feeling much calmer about the situation now and just want to get it all fixed for my pups :D) Burlof, I just went and bought some Frontline so I will put that on my dogs... squeak, I remember my vet telling me that as well but it wasn't an issue as my dogs didn't have fleas... Wow Sugar, thank you for all that information!! Staff'n'Toller, I just bought some flea bombs as well, I like the fact that they will kill any other bugs as well!! t-time, don't you hate it when that happens!!! Excellent tip about the flea collar in the vacuum bag!! Thanks also for all the other info especially the mix for the back yard, I think they are coming from there as well and possibly under the house...... I have also rung the Real Estate agent about the issue as our lease states that we must get the property sprayed when we leave as we have dogs which I have no problem with but obviously the person before us didn't do it!! I have also added it to the Conditional Report so I'm hoping the owner will pay for the spraying. Too late the hide the pups!! They know we have dogs  Mel
  24. Hi All, I have just moved into a new rental house and last night found my dogs riddled with fleas!!!! My dogs do not have fleas so they have obviously picked them up from this new house (they are large adult fleas). As I have never had them before, how do I get rid of them!!!!!! They are on Sentinal monthly treatment but that is obviously not enough at the moment so what do I do? The house had wooden floor boards? Would they still be in the house or are they outside? How do I treat all of this? Please help!! I am desperate to get rid of them they are making my pups miserable!! Mel
  25. Hi There I would start off slowly if possible and try and introduce your pup to maybe just one other pup instead of a whole class full? Or is you know someone who also have a puppy? I think you just need to build up your pups confidence with other dogs as the pup probably didn't get the full benefit of living with litter mates until 8 weeks old! Good luck and I'm sure that after a bit of time and TLC everything will be O.K Mel
