  1. My dogs are outside in the day normally 6.30 to as late as 8 or 9 but mostly around 5. When I go out of town they go to the kennel
  2. I use sport mode when they are moving and landscape when they aren't and it's outdoors and portrait when they are stationary indoors.. Most modern cameras auto modes will take very good photos especially when conditions are changing.
  3. My Shar Pei is prone to yeast infections, and needed weekly baths on either Earth Born Holistic or Blackhawk I have had him on Blackhawk for nearly 2 years now and no problems, baths happen every 3 to 4 weeks now. The secret to his ear and infections and weekly baths was pro biotics and yoghurt he hasn't had any infections for nearly 2 years
  4. Between crappy weather and work I haven't taken anything in a few weeks. Out in the back of beyond again maybe something comes up on the way home
  5. I find Stefmar is consistently cheaper than them especially for flea and tick stuff and treats. I normally buy 3 months worth at a time. For me the Blackhawk plus postage works out about the same as buying local
  6. Reviews I read said the Sigma 18 to 300 was sharper than the Tamron version. Lots of reviews on lenses out there. There are a couple of guys with good youtube channels with reviews and tutorials as well
  7. I have a Sigma 18 to 250 and a 18 to 300. Long story but the 300 lives on my camera and I am pretty happy with its performance. I bought it online from CR Kennedy for around $500. The good thing with the new Sigma's is you can send it it in to get the mounts changed if you ever change camera brands Ps the 250 is for sale :D
  8. You use a photo hosting website like photobucket or Picasa or Flickr
  9. That sounds daft, maybe I am misunderstanding what is meant. IMHO you are over thinking it. Any of the top brands will take better pictures than you are capable of until you have years of experience. Pick a body you like, forget about 1fps or a pufteenth of clarity and then get a lens that you can afford and learn to use the camera. When you are trying to do things that the lens can't do then it's time to upgrade. All the photos I have posted have been taken with sub $600 lenses in fact some really good ones with phones and point and shoots.
  10. Lots of photographers using Canon and blowing things up to huge sizes. You have to take into account that a lot of the people making these statements are extremely anal nitpickers, and as has been said the lens is more of a factor in the sharpness stakes. This is zoomable and is taken with an Average lens in sport mode ISO 100 37mm 1/640 second F5.6 . I would be pretty happy to blow that up and and hang it on my wall https://goo.gl/photos/Zp8SEFYpoco9SKRx9
  11. Nice, I will be getting some of mine done soon
  12. I think the 70D has a better processor than the 750D and has significantly less noise. My low light photos are a bit grainy at high ISO's but its only really noticeable when zoomed right in That is handheld at 2am in the morning at a ISO of 12800. 70D Sigma 18 to 250mm lens I think its 5- 6.3f. Very little editing of that image Same image but with editing done
  13. I have the Sigma 18 to 300 it was a tossup between that and the Tamron but most of the reviews I could find said the Sigma was a bit sharper. The only downside of those kinds of lenses is the image distortion you get at some focal lengths, but Lightroom does a good job of sorting that out.
  14. I don't think you are being difficult there is nothing worse than inconsiderate idiots pestering you at all hours. In my case my job makes it hard to impossible to make the kennel opening hours,so I use a lady who does pet sitting to drop off the dogs or pickup as required. Simple and easy and much less stress for me.
  15. I most of the "this is better for sports" thing comes from the frame rate when holding the button down in sport mode and the ability of the autofocus. A valid argument but I wouldn't be worrying about a difference of 1 or 2 frames per second. I read a few reviews and had to go with that as I live in whoop whoop. As I said I am happy with my 70D and I have a Sigma 18 to 300mm lens as it's a good walking around lens without having to carry a bunch of lenses. I would always go for the newest one but that's just me 😊
  16. Yes I bought some ebay cheapies to try before I spent money on good ones. I found that as the back feet are much smaller that it's hard to keep them on. I also found that they rub the tops of Jonah's toes. I found some anti histamines that keep the allergies under control and gave up on the boots.
  17. Thanks for the comments everyone, it is a pretty part of the country even though the sea is way to cold for me to get into. Doesnt seem to stop the daft dogs though, even though they both hate nice warm baths This is a video of them playing in the ice cold water I doubt it was over 15 deg.
  18. Mirror less are the coming thing they are generally smaller physically and generally take better video. After market lens selection is limited but will improve. Saying that I have a Canon 70d and am happy with it. I use a 300mm lens which on my camera gives an effective 480mm and it's not long enough for long shots especially on things like birds. For whale watching I would probably go for a 100 to 600mm and dlsr for a year or 2 more. The new Sigma lenses can be sent back to get the mounts changed if you change camera brands as well.
  19. Shirra the beach was deserted except for us, so no incentive to call him back :) Kirislin my hand is ok and punching the staffy in the head seemed to even the score Jonah just had some smallish puncture wounds that were healed within a week.
  20. Some really good photos being posted, make me quite jealous sometimes :) I think I am a bit behind, these were taken in Esperance on a camping trip last week 21/52 22/52
