Crossing The Border! ( No, I'm Not) Query Please
Canisbellum replied to persephone's topic in General Dog Discussion
Drove Jonah through the border no problems besides trying to kidnap him for cuteness -
Jesse wanst to jump on and lick everyone and Jonah wants to protect his patch and me so if its a tradie or a stranger picking something up they stay in the house or the back yard depending on what access is needed. I did have a pizza guy walk in one night despite me writing a warning on the order. Luckily Jonah was so surprised to see him near the front door when I opened it that he ran straight past to the gate and when he came back I was able to grab him. Needless to say the pizza guy got crapped on from a great height.

Getting Dog To Take Medication
Canisbellum replied to Brookestar's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Crush and put in food? Cheese has always been my go to but they get it every meal regardless so they just swallow it. I hear peanut butter works as well -
Thanks

Mowglieandme I have seen the tie outs in a lot of pet shops. I bought mine at My Pet Warehouse. You can use horse lunge lines as long lines as well. I bought my long lines online at K9pro.com.au. Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk

You can buy a Stake which screws into the ground with a 3 or 6m plastic coated cable. Works well in hard dirt not so much in sand, I use that or I attach the cables to my ute they are a lot easier to manage and untangle than long lines which was my previous plan. Jesse is a night wanderer and I end up getting up a few times a night to untangle her so she sleeps in the swag with me and Jonah sleeps in his bed at the open end when I can keep a hand on him. He is very protective and takes his duties seriously which can be a pain if there are night wanderers nearby. They only walk past once and then find other routes to their destination.

I tried a few anti histamines and found that one 180mg Telfast a day helped with Jonah's red itchy feet. He weighs 24kg. 2 Phenergen a day works for his feet and his eyes but he is on 2 Zyrtec generics called C-Zine a day which I buy online for about $10 for 50 tablets. The dosage will vary by weight Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk

A Shar Pei would fit in there as well as long as you were prepared to put in some training and deal with potential health issues. Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk

He is safe with them, although he was geed up one morning after coming across a Kangaroo and saw a Jack Russel in the distance and started to take off. He did stop when I called him so I think it was a momentary "there's a rabbit" till he realised it was a dog. He has never shown aggression to small dogs and tries to play with them. Jesse on the other hand fixates on them and follows them around standing over them although that is getting better. She was a stray so sometimes I think its a hmmm yummy attitude but she has never shown any kind of aggression to them.

Jonah has high prey drive and would definitely chase and kill anything he caught in our yard. Jesse chases but doesn't seem that interested in catching I can call her off easily I warned my neighbours with cats but they weren't bothered and neither would I be. He is always on lead in suburbia and out bush I try and discourage them chasing things. Small dogs are safe from him Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk

Jonah will hump some dogs and they never do anything back other dogs will also hump the same dog, I think they can pick "submissive" up. a dog tried to hump him once and he saw it off in no uncertain fashion same as if they put a paw on his back.

The walks are mainly for the dogs and I try and take them out for at least an hour every day and I try and vary the areas we walk in. While on lead they are expected to walk with me and not sniff at things but the vast majority of the time they are off lead running around but keeping near me as I walk along. Lately I have been on a bicycle and they are free to run around keeping up with me as I ride along. I always take lots of water in summer and on longer walks in winter. I rode 8.5km today. Jonah probably did over 9 and Jesse probably hit 12. Had to force Jonah to rest when we stopped for water, he will only lay down when for a few minutes when he is exhausted if I don't. The aftermath Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk

I stopped to have a rest and this is where Jesse immediately came and lay. Jonah was busy investigating as usual and had to be called back several times Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
