Vip Natures Goodness Grain Free
Ivory & Beau replied to sheena's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Kind of thinking of switching to this again as my current food, which I had taken a break from using, seems to be making them itchy I'm nearly at the end of a big bag too and in two minds about buying said brand again. -
Vip Natures Goodness Grain Free

Used it in the past in an 'opps I've run out' moment and the dogs loved it. It is good to be able to buy decent food at Woolies now, for moments like yours. Though I wouldn't use it on a regular basis as small bags don't last long enough here. -
I can't be bothered reading the entire thread but interested to try this food! Can you explain to me why you need to freeze it etc?

I heard recently of Guide Dogs being attacked while in harness/work lately. It was a discussion on ABC National Radio.

I now have a 1998 Toyota Prado GXL and my four fit in with room for another four! Though we have a ramp for the older Lab as he can't jump that high to get in. It also has push out rear windows, so the dogs get the air flow, while staying safe. I had a Rav 4 previous but the Prado kicks arse!!!!

excuse me! Errr what? I've been around this forum for awhile now, these types of calls for help always go the same ol' way. The OP is constantly made out to be some crazy dog monster. Sure, some are mad but I'd say 99% are genuine people who aren't in the know-it-all dog scene.

Just wanted to give my support for you and your dogs. Not an easy thing to be going through but even the bullies here have probably made mistakes but they are too proud to tell anyone. Look forward to hearing about the birth :)

Buy smaller bags, more often. That is what I tend to do but I do go through dry food pretty well with four big dogs.

I Think My Dog Swallowed Some Plastic!

My Pointer gives me colorful poos all the time -
I just took my bunch to the park. Tinker and Badger are big sand kickers! I tell them they are air-rating the soil for the trees. I have to keep at least 5 metres away or else I get sanded.

Kill List Frustrations
Ivory & Beau replied to HappyCamper's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I see ads like this on Gumtree a lot at the moment ... SAVE ME - due to die 3pm Tuesday -
Many, if not most of us feed our dogs twice a day. My pack would kill me if I did this  If I don't feed on the dot, everyday; I get told about it ...
-
I feed two Labradors, a Pointer and a Belgian Shepherd together, everyday, twice a day. Plus they all eat bones together. The youngest Lab has a "no scoff" bowl and it has helped her gulping big time. She even sits and waits till told to eat her food now. The new bowl has helped the pack dynamics ten fold. Tinker doesn't finish her food in a few seconds and then won't bother the others while they are still eating. Though I always stand in the middle while they eat but more out of ease and I can lean on the gate post while they eat! Each dog goes to their respective place every meal time to wait.

A Good Breed For Someone With Anxiety?
Ivory & Beau replied to kiwifeathers's topic in General Dog Discussion
The behavior of a socially awkward person is VERY different when they are home in their own safe surroundings. I own a working breed and Ivy is perfect. I'm a different person when I'm safe at home. Take me out, and I shut down but take me out with Ivy and I'm dandy. So your comment isn't true and you shouldn't judge someone with anxiety as someone who can not successfully own and maintain a working breed. But that is my last word. As I said, all the best with her finding her companion :) -
A Good Breed For Someone With Anxiety?
Ivory & Beau replied to kiwifeathers's topic in General Dog Discussion
I still suggest the Groenendael. Esp a male, who grows a lion-like mane as he matures. I wasn't bragging about my Belgian Shepherd, I rarely post here anymore BUT reading the OP, it sounded a lot like myself and Ivy has been a life line for me. I have over five years experience with an extremely well bred Groenendael. I would never do any shows BUT if I were to, a Labrador/Rotty/Dobe would be the worst breed as there are so many IMO, that the competition would be such a put down for my already fragile confidence. Wishing all the best for your friend kiwifeathers :) -
A Good Breed For Someone With Anxiety?
Ivory & Beau replied to kiwifeathers's topic in General Dog Discussion
There is a lady in my neighbourhood with three Belgians but I have forgotten whether they are Groenedaels - I think they might be. They are lovely dogs and from what I've seen of them, would tend to believe you are spot on. Groenendaels are the jet black, with a small white mark on their chest type :) Oh really? Is she a Groenendael? She may be from a working line of dogs ... To which I wouldn't recommend for this type of home. My experience with the Groenendael has been magical. -

Groenendael - Belgian Shepherd. I have serious anxiety issues etc and Ivy is my guardian. She's protective of the yard and house; she does guard/warning bark really well. Most people are scared of her as she's jet black and looks like a wolf but she's a teddy bear. She will happily chill out on the couch to watch a movie but the moment you are ready to do something; she's ready! Grooming is simple, she just needs a brush once a fortnight and every couple of days during her yearly-ish shed. No trimming or shaving. Doesn't shed unless she's moulting, and then it is only when you give her a really good rub. My partner works late at times and has worked away up north. I have felt very safe with Ivy. Plus her character makes the most awful of days sunny. I'm happy to chat privately too :) -
Hey everyone. Hope you're all great? I have been thinking about putting together my own muesli for the dogs. None have any allergies and I already cook pumpkin, sweet potato with brown rice for them. Been looking online for ideas and have found some pretty good ones. I am also considering buying a dehydrator for the dogs. They are fed a mainly raw diet already and I supplement with dry, but I wish to remove dry food 100%. Yes, I know there are mueslis out there already but cost wise, it isn't practical with four dogs. Plus I wish to create my own. So does anyone make their own? If so, please share :)

Does Nix dig in sand?
-
it was not adopted it was sold for $1000.00 - a profit making transaction not a charitable one +1 eta .. Just had a look and all their small dogs are $1000

Ivy sleeps in my room and most mornings I wake up with her on the end of the bed. The only time she's annoying is when she's hot and pants, she makes the bed shake. So I kick her off. Or if she's been to the beach the day before and she's filled my bed with sand ...

What's It Like Owning A Specific Breed
Ivory & Beau replied to kiwioz's topic in General Dog Discussion
My first dog was an English Pointer [b/w] and she was my heart girl. We lost her suddenly in 2005. Since then between my parents and I, we have since owned three more Pointers. Two Lemon/white and one Liver/white. I didn't get my own Pointer until 2010 but now I adore having him in my life and I do feel the part of my heart that died with Penny has returned. -
FYI ... grains are just replaced with potato.

Labrador With A Strong Doggy Smell

Her smell isn't something I am concerned about. Just curious. Only really notice it when she's in the back of the car. -

Yes but where the dogs are inside, it is floating floorboards.
