He is a miniature poodle and is fed Science Diet kibble, beef mince and chicken; there is some slight turning out of his feet. I will try to get a photo at some point.
-
I think my dog may actually be disqualified from a show as his feet turn out - however this could be because he is five months old.
-
So I have a purebred pup, and am interested in showing him. However, do you have to be a member of the State Canine Body (Dogs Queensland) or ANKC to show in a show? How does the point system work?
-
Ah okay, just clicked on the certificate example posted by Shoelace, and it is exactly what Boris' looks like. Thanks guys :)
-
It says up the top in sort of greyish writing "Australian National Kennel Council Limited" And then underneath in big blue writing it says "Certified Pedigree" and has the ANKC stamp in the top right hand side.
-
My family bought a purebred papered miniature poodle, and today his papers came in the mail. His pedigree is blue, and we are from Queensland (where he was bred and bought from). I am wondering if this means he is on main register? Or is it different in Queensland, and is he in fact on limited register? Just wondering if anyone knows.

What To Look For In A Reputable Breeder?

Mum ended up placing a deposit at the breeder we went to because like I said, rush rush rush. We also adopted an 8 year old poodle named Natasha. The breeder gave her to a woman when she retired Tash and the woman abused her so she's a bit timid but loves me :) Interestingly Natasha is the great-grandmother of the puppy we're going to get as well. :) We ended up going with MyFlair poodles. The puppy's father and Natasha's grandson is a beautiful dog. -

She just wants a pet and doesn't care how she gets it which is an incredibly frustrating attitude. I want to take my time but it's not up to me. Maybe a breeder will convince her to slow down. I was going to go to a dog show but ended up not doing so because it's raining today and I don't feel like driving for two hours at night in the rain. But yes, anyways we're going to MyFlair tomorrow so hopefully the breeder will like us and my mother will like the breeder. -

My mother is going to rush because that's what she does best. As long as she rushes from a good breeder I am fine with it. If she bought from a pet store or BYB I'd never speak to her again. -

I just rang MyFlair and am planning a visit. I am also looking at rescuing as well. -

She probably was. It wasn't intense though, it was bad I'll admit it but it could've been a lot worse. I was young though and she died a while ago so I don't really remember. But I want to avoid those slipping kneecaps and blindness if I can. -

Our now deceased poodle was a BYB dog (we got her when I was 5) and she started to go blind at around 7. She coped well and her slipping kneecaps werent an issue. We were exceedingly lucky. -

I'll be moving out in the next 5 or so years so I dont have to look after it then, I will try to help but it's a mistake she can make and I will have no part. Weve made this mistake before and it looks as if she will do it again. I dont think an ethical breeder will sell me a pup so quickly :/ if all else fails I will wait till after Xmas and rescue since a huge number of dogs come in after Xmas -

she doesnt care. I was trying to tell her a breeder will select the perfect pup to fit in the family but she didnt want to hear it and carried on "she just wants a dog" Our other dog just died so I feel so bleh. Im just angry I cant take my time. Also our previous poodle had slipping patellas and PRA so I cant convince her thats bad cause our poodle was fine. However I am definitely thinking of rescue as well.
