  1. Never too many photos of your babies!
  2. My babies made their debut today with Trisven Best Gift Ever "Cadeau" taking Baby Puppy in Group and Runner-up in 3-6 month sweepstakes against some really lovely babies at Holbrook Show.
  3. I live in a tiny village but there are a lot of dogs. Next to us lives an ACD and a Cavalier X, across from them is a Golden Retriever. No dog in the house next to the Goldie but a stumpy tailed ACD next to the Goldie. The next house has JRTS and working kelpie or b/c mixes. Next has a larged mixed breed, next a poodle. My other neighbour has a Border Collie, next to her are 6 Border Collies & a Sheltie. Across from them a JRT and an ACD/JRT mix. Others that I know of in town are a Staghound/whippet mix, a boxer, a number of unknown mixed breeds, a greyhound x, a few more JRTs, another poodle and some more working breeds (yes I know people in town by their dogs  ). The only ones I know of that are pedigree are the Border Collies and my dogs. The rest are all either deliberate or accidental BYB.
  4. No-one anywhere has said that they're at fault, rather that they're not necessarily acting in the best interest of the dog, or thinking about what the dog would prefer.
  5. This is why we struggle to go away as a family - don't trust other people to care for my animals at a level that I am happy with. God I would be angry with the person who had been caring for my dog whilst I was away.
  6. WOW!!!! I know colour isn't important but I hope you get the dark ones with the black masks, they're stunning!
  7. No it is not the same two bitches. One of those was the top bitch and has gone to a pet home (she was never actually my bitch but lived with me as her owner has been very unwell), the two remaining are aunt/niece and have lived together very happily for 4 months (the niece has also come to me due to her owner's health).
  8. They are soooo beautiful Alyosha!!!! Can you show me pics of what the darker colour will look like in an adult?
  9. Me too!!! Marie (the older girl) is my first Fauve and she goes nowhere. Astra (the younger girl) is my 8 year old daughter's dog and they are as close as Marie and I so she can't go either. If we can't get them back together with time then we'll simply spend the rest of their lives managing them.
  10. I have had similar issues with bitches previously during seasons or pregnancies that have resolved after the hormonal stage has finished. If we can't get them back together then we will simply manage them. Thanks for your input :)
  11. This week our top bitch who was a very gentle dictator went off to a new home with Gillybob. Only 36 hours after she has left our remaining two adult bitches have decided to go from being best mates to fantastic enemies. We've had no major battles but they have each lunged at the other which is completely out of character. We are keeping them separated but would, ideally, like to get back to having them as friends down the track. The older bitch was going to be desexed in a couple of months but I have brought that forward to next week. Her litter is currently 10 weeks old and for some reason my boys all seem to think she should be mated. The younger bitch finished her season about 3 weeks ago so I figure they've probably both got some hormonal crap happening as well as the shift in pack dynamics. My plan is to keep them separated for the next few weeks and then carefully try to get them back together by walking them together initially and then supervised time in the dog run. They are happy to sleep in crates next to each other so they're not at the serious hate point yet. Any other suggestions? Any tips?
  12. Anna, Cedro's mum, is such a lucky girl to come home to your house and get to live like the princess she is and teach Cedro how to behave.
  13. With all pups now having homes and all but 2 of them having left for their new homes I can now enjoy my keepers. This lovely photo was taken yesterday of my boy. His name is Kado (pronounced cardo and Dutch for gift) but I'm thinking of changing the spelling to Cadeau which is French for gift - what are your thoughts?
  14. So essentially sounds to me like she is refusing to put onto MR, despiting selling him on MR, because you annoyed her???? Ridiculous.
  15. After doing the rescue I've always found that a phone call is the best way to suss out the new home and explain about the breed so when I get emails from people I ask them to call me to discuss the breed and its suitability for them and then if they don't ring I haven't invested the energy for no purpose. If they do ring I normally get a very good feel for whether or not they're suitable and whether or not they're truly interested.
  16. NOt sure on the price of a Havanese but if she likes the look of the Malt/Shih Tzu they fit that.
  17. I grew up with mutts and currently own a mixture of breeds that I had before I met Fauves. Since I met and purchased my first Fauve I can't fathom not owning one. Will probably have other breeds at different times along the way but they will be the constant.
  18. Yeah Kado is stunning but the whole litter was fabulous and the second litter is looking just as good. Very happy.
  19. I love it when people pay attention to my dogs and my dogs love it too.
  20. Two of my rising stars for 2013 who will make their debut at Holbrook Ag Show - this is Trisven Neils Gift known as Nell This is Trisven Best Gift Ever known as Kado.
  21. Sooooo excited - just received confirmation that all the names I'd chosen have been approved and the litter is now registered. In honour of Neil Weeks and the gift of Anna he made to Felicity Dwyer and us the litter has a gift theme. Their names are - Trisven Neil's Gift (Nell), Trisven Best Gift Ever (Kado), Trisven Gift of the Gab (Gabby), Trisven Gift of Peace (Cedro), Trisven Gift From Oz (Scooby), Trisven Precious Gift (Scout) and Trisven Gift of Laughter (Hugo). So very happy!
  22. A pet (being a dog without papers or only on limited register) can't be shown - if you want a dog to show then it MUST be on main register. I agree with Sandra - straight on to the relevant canine council. Oh yes, I know the difference on paper... but I guess I meant in the household. That would suck getting rid of your new baby just because you can't show them...? It wouldn't differ other than that you've invested time and thought etc in looking to purchase a pup for a specific purpose AS WELL as it its position as a household pet. Like spending months planning what sort of car you're going to get only to find when it arrives it is similar to what you wanted but not it and doesn't suit the purpose.
