Another Dog Attack - Front Page Of The Border Mail

Which article shel? There have been 3 in total. -
Hey BB. I've always started offering the solids to the rescue litters at 3 weeks and sometimes younger as often the mums haven't been in good condition when they've come in. I start with raw mince mixed with Divetalact to make a milky milkshake. When they're eating that well I cut down on the Divetalact and start adding soaked Advance Rehydratable. Once they're eating that well I gradually cut out the mince and then gradually stop hydrating the Advance until they're eating the dry food well. I also give them chicken carcasses to chew on and similar things like that. I will confess that I will probably try feeding my first Fauve litter primarily on raw but I figure that most of the rescue dogs are going to be fed a commercial dog food so it is simpler to start them on one.

Another Dog Attack - Front Page Of The Border Mail

There was another article yesterday where the local RSPCA President AND owner of a number of veterinary surgeries was quoted as saying the dog was a ticking time bomb. There apparently was another possible attack by the same dog 2 weeks earlier. This man came forward after reading about it earlier in the week. I must admit that when I went walking my dogs today I deliberately avoided the area which is an area I often walk in. I will continue to do so for a while most likely, though I'm sure the woman will not be walking her dog for quite some time. She must live very near if not in Breen Street as that is two incidents in Breen Street and one very close to it. -
Sounds like the Fauves and we got the Japanese Judge as well. Oh well - I can't wait to go this year

I have posted the link to the article Dog Disgrace Obviously another case of an idiot owner walking their dog off-lead, particularly if it was the same dog involved in the incident earlier in the day. What an absolute bitch of a woman to leave the guy there injured. Whilst his injuries weren't life threatening at all, it is still a callous act. Whilst it doesn't change what happened I would love to know what breed of dog it actually was as the dog remains, at this point, unknown. Can't imagine the middle-aged woman coming forward now however.

Edslaine lost a very good friend doing exactly what you did. She stopped her car to rescue a turtle and was hit and killed. Her very young daughter (only about 12 months old) was sitting in her car seat in the car. Whilst I always try to help animals on the road Edslaine's friend's story makes sure I do it very, very carefully.

Oh I so agree with you!!! Rescuing pregnant dogs, being there whilst they whelp, raising the pups and watching them learn is what has inspired me to do it properly with a breed I love. I love that first visit outside too - there are so many different smells and textures and sounds, it is wonderful to watch them soak it up. Having not been able to have baby pups here for a while I enjoyed vicariously a friend's litter recently, watching them learn all about the big outdoors for the first time. It really is a wonderful thing

:D Had to laugh at my daughter's Facebook update today (she lives in Mildura).
-
yes and you were deep in conversations so it was only helloooooooooooo lol :D Yep - had to get lots of Fauve chat in whilst the three of us were together at the same time!!!
-
Yes she did make it but was a bit of a snob did not even come to say hi to me . You dags!! Sorry I missed you Morsha & Mercedes. I quickly said hello to Tibbiemax and the handsome Po but most of my time was spent with Neil and Katherine talking Fauves. I could only fit an hour in this morning sadly - bring on June in Wagga as it will be my next show and there will be loads of Fauves! Fingers crossed by then we will be on our "country estate" . I did see Rebanne as she walked past and Ceilidh who was sitting right near Katherine. Everyone looked like they were having a great time and the weather was fabulous - a nice chance for the Thurgoona shows .

Your still doing rescue thou right? Make sure you stop by tomorrow and say Hi! Yeah still do rescue but more of the temp-testing and that sort of stuff. We've enjoyed cutting back on the fostering to be honest and our yard is looking fabulous as a result. Where are you sitting? I'll be with Tibbiemax probably at the toy ring but I also want to watch Marcus go around the ring as I've heard lots of great things about him. From what I saw of him today I expect him to be the first big winner for the Fauves - he has a fabulous top line and a lovely head, plus great turn of stifle. I'm told he is very showy in the ring so I can't wait to see him. Would have been there today to watch him win Puppy in Group but I was busy walking around our potential new home measuring .

I thought you would have been entered? I almost did but we're currently working on fixing up our place ready to sell so we can buy some acreage just out of town so weekends are busy, precious things . I've decided (and Steve has convinced me ) that time off showing for a couple of months will be repaid by space and the ability to have more Fauves in the future. I'll be there tomorrow to watch for a while. Its killing me but I keep reminding myself of the long-term benefits. Plus I'm busy losing weight so I can really move around the ring - I'll be unrecognisable next time I'm in the ring .

I met the Fauve that won Puppy in Group today and he is lovely!

Very Sad News From The Midniara Household Rip Buddy

Oh Twinnie... I'm so, so, so sorry. You've always spoken of him with such love and pride, my heart is breaking for you. Hugs to you and yours tonight. -
What Poodlefan says. We have a dog in care atm with a low grade luxating patella who will be rehomed as it is unlikely to ever cause him more of a problem then he currently has. We have pts others who had a more severe grade patella problem and the group didn't have the funds to repair. ETA - it is why every small dog we rescue gets taken for a little run to see if it hops or skips. If it does then it goes to the vet for a check of it before we decide to rescue.
-
That is so awesome!! Congratulations to both Shantiah and Rebanne who I'm betting was just buzzing after that win!!!
-
Lilli that is fantastic news!!! I'm so happy for you

YEah I will find out the dates and let you know.

Mine have loved every dog they have met. Marie is a little more reserved but Daphne just throws herself at everyone and everything . The breeder has Dachshunds, Whippets & Fauves and they all get on well from what I can tell. Mine are currently having a ball playing with a kelpie X of 7 months of age who plays hard and fast - they love her. Another person who shows has GSPs and Fauves and they all get on well. I can't remember where you are Ons but if you're anywhere near Wagga in June I highly recommend the hound speciality show as there will be lots of Fauves attending - nearly all that are exhibiting in Australia at the moment so our first "speciality".

Sorry GB - just saw your note - will PM you tomorrow evening. Sandgrubber - hmmmm - yes they definitely follow their noses and if given the opportunity to wander most definitely would. However, having owned JRTs my fences are very secure and they don't get the opportunity but they would definitely follow interesting smells. In Europe people who hunt with them sometimes complain that they don't go far ENOUGH away from the humans to hunt properly but I've been game to try it.
