Dogs Victoria Wanting To Take More Decisions From Breeders.
Trisven13 replied to Steve's topic in Breeders Community
Its the same for the Fauves too t-time. There is only one Fauve breeder in Vic so I will be checking with her if she was approached for her input. I'm with Steve on this - we have to be able to make these decisions for ourselves based on what is best for our dogs, not what someone else thinks should happen. :D -
As you're discovering but just to reassure you - we have had about 6 rescue bitches need c-sections and each of them have been desexed at the same time with no problems at all with feeding. One had a ruptured uterus so bad that the vet didn't expect her to be able to urinate again and expected her to be need to be pts with the pups the next day. She fed her pups so well that we were still struggling to wean them at 6 weeks.

nope, didn't work here when my greys were on all raw. Chicken didn't agree with one, red meat didn't agree with another. So it was half and half for a while, with a lot of mucking around, now we are all dry, have been for a few weeks and one has put on weight and the others are getting there. The diet that is most suitable is the one the dogs do well on. Agree

Dogs Victoria Wanting To Take More Decisions From Breeders.
Trisven13 replied to Steve's topic in Breeders Community
Absolutely. Whatever happened to breeders making decisions in the best interests of the individual bitch. Mating age is not a one size fits all line in the sand. I'm a long way from an expert on breeding having never bred a litter but I would think that this was a self-evident truth. Decisions such as this need to be made taking into consideration each individual situation. -
This is the first winter that Bart hasn't been skin and bone and he is 5 years old. He has always, from the time he arrived at 3 months of age, been hard to get weight on and I think it is just him. Other greyhounds I've had have had no problems. Some greyhounds are just extra thin in my limited experience.

Yep definitely! Every Fauve I've known will have had 3 seasons by 18 months of age. ETA - other than Marie -
I was just thinking about Gilbert a couple of days ago and wondering how he was going. He looks amazing. Can't wait to see you in October and my friend Chris can see just what a Jack Russell can be :D :D

I thought Samantha Cooper had a pair in Victoria? She definitely has two - I've spoken with her daughter Nadine about them when she imported her second one - it was just a puppy, and a big goofy one at that. lol its not just strangers that get breeds wrong i had a lady book a labradoodle in for grooming once you can imagine my surprise when she walked in the door and following along behind her was a Murry river curly coated reviver she insisted she paid good money for her labradoodle if you ask me she got a better deal with the MRCCR If she bought it on the border it may well have been sold to her as a Labradoodle. Some moronic couple bred a Labradoodle with a MRCCR and sold the pups as Labradoodles - they had a big photo spread in the paper and all pups sold that day. I went to puppy preschool with two of them and one of them had really thrown to the MRCCR. Of course she could also be stupid Woohoo - that would have either been Carla or Marcus. Did you give them a squish??? :D

Oh Steve I'm so sorry. How heartbreaking for everyone

I see a rare dog or two every day as I live with two Basset Fauve De Bretagne. I've got a friend with a Valhund and she was gobsmacked that I knew what it was the first time I went to her house . I see a local couple walking a stunning Rottweiler and Bernese Mountain Dog quite often and it is unusual to see a BMD around here.

Does anyone have links to video?

Woohoo Will! Having lived with her for the weekend it is very hard to believe she is 15. She is a darling.

Breed Numbers For Murray Valley Kennel Club August 6 - 8

No - apparently it was cold in your bedroom so Steve is off to buy flannelette sheets & another blanket today so that you guys can keep warm. I'm not sure if she left the heater on or not but if she didn't you might want to tonight . I don't think Winn & Bridget were able to keep her warm enough -

Its cold and foggy at my place today. BBJ left just after 7am for her drive in and I have no doubt she had fog the whole way. Normally when Albury is foggy we're sunny here but if its foggy here it may be foggy in Albury for quite a while longer. If you haven't left make sure you pack some warm clothes. -

Council Ranger Threatens To Fine Rescuer Of Lost Dogs
Trisven13 replied to SarasMum's topic in In The News
The rangers in Albury won't pick up a dog unless you have it contained - they will not come out for a roaming dog. There was a dog that used to get out near me and bailed a number of people up, including one poor bugger who was on the other side of my back fence. I called the rangers then and they knew the dog and its owner and they did nothing. The dog jumped into my yard once and bailed up my husband, they came and picked him up and returned him to his owner. The dog was wandering down the road trailing 20 metres of steel chain and they still didn't pick it up. :D -
Mine only hump when the Fauves are in season so we've had lots of humping the last 2 weeks. Daphne & Marie always come in at the same time and hump each other incessantly.
-
I'm about an hour from Wagga and it was bloody miserable here. Really cold, really wet and seriously muddy. I was VERY glad I hadn't entered . God I hope we get some dry weather this week or the Murray Valley International will be its normal mudpit.

Woohoo Tibbiemax!!

What would you like to know? Best bet is to turn up early as it is a big show with a number of rings and to remember that dogs go into the ring in alphabetical order so if you are wanting to talk to breeders of, say, Australian Cattle Dogs they will be more likely to have time to talk to you once they've been in the ring . I will be there on Saturday & Sunday if you want to bring a chair and hang out with us for a bit.

Albury Dog Community
Trisven13 replied to Casey & BC Kiara's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Yes, definitely. We are halfway between Albury and Wangaratta and we routinely get runs of temps in the 40's during summer. A good week long run in the low 40's is not unusual during the height of summer. Summer heat waves is not something I'm going to miss I love it - we get seasons!! -

Sounds like Sam Field? She had successful obedience trialling Irish Setters before making the switch to Australian Shepherds. She is also an obedience instuctor and judge. I know Albury runs a couple of agility trials a year but have never heard anything about agilitytraining. The club will be the folk to tell you. Yes that is her. She is lovely! I used to run into her and her husband a couple of times a week over Summer as we were walking our dogs at the same time, depending on the route I took. They definitely have agility training - Wednesday nights or every second Wednesday night. You need to be at brown level to do it I think but yes the Club can tell you. The Club here is really nice, lots of lovely people. Morsha68 on here will be able to tell you a bit about it as she is quite heavily involved. I had grand plans of doing it with Marie or Daphne BUT it will probably be a little harder now that we're out of town as we're not at the right level of obedience yet -

The Howlong trainer is a really nice lady called Jude - "Life Lessons on Leash". Howlong is about 25 minutes out of Albury. Albury's Kennel Club has just changed its training to positive only and there is a really great lady there who has Aussie's (I "think" her name is Sam) who is a guru apparently when it comes to positive training. They do traditional obedience and agility. Angelsun lives quite close to Albury and she teaches people about Rally Obedience - not sure when/if she is having another session in Albury. She is lovely too. Albury Wodonga Flyball Club are a great group of people but I think you have to be really keen to compete to sign up with them - not a problem of course if you are keen to compete. You can't just go for fun if you know what I mean. Great, great people though. No herding that I'm aware of and also no tracking. Otherwise loads of lovely places to walk and quite a dog friendly community for a rural area. I love Albury and look forward to meeting you once you've settled in. If you need any tips on nice places to rent or buy let us locals know. -
Thanks for explaining guys . I've always made such a point of making sure that our rescue pups get time with their mums each day up until 8 weeks of age to do what I can to ensure they get as good a start as possible that reading this I started to wonder if I had it arsed up. The rescue litters will hopefully be good practice for my own first litter
