  1. Sorry I didn't get a catalogue. It was an older lady who owned it and she had competition with 2 other shelties. Not people I see regularly BUT I have seen the lady I was sitting next to before. She was sitting with Corgi & BC people.
  2. I was sitting near a Sheltie lady - I had a good laugh at her little dog playing with her tennis ball and rounding things up
  3. My friend had a Rotty X bitch who killed one other dog (after seriously injuring her once before) and would have killed another new dog if given the opportunity. She was always kept separate from the other dog but one day when they had builders over people got confused and Cassie killed Sally. I've always been very aware of the risks of running two entire bitches, given that I have two. They have always got on really well but I feed them separately for safety. Daphne, however, has been in Melbourne for a few months and it will be close to 6 months before she comes back. I worry how they will get along when she returns. I,personally, don't think I would tolerate that kind of behaviour in my home as the stress would be very difficult for me. I do think though that would be a very difficult decision if Marie was the aggressor. :p
  4. Had a great day!! BIS was an English Toy Terrier out of the Puppy Class and was a very popular win. Marie was Open in Group so that was nice for us
  5. No worries Ceilidh will do. Mercedes was talking about it too so maybe we can round up some other locals. I'm happy to do the course too if we can get a babysitter for when it is on. Its one of those thankless jobs isn't it? Like being a referree
  6. LOVE this breed and if they were ANKC recognised I have no doubt that they would be McKenzie's breed of choice. We've rescued 2 litters and she has adored them above every other dog we've fostered. Obviously my favourite rare breed is the Basset Fauve De Bretagne but I don't mind the Griffon Fauve De Bretagne either, though apparently they are notorious for baying. Some Fauve breeders in the UK have recently imported some Griffons. Wikipedia Some images
  7. Yes it is but I dare say you would get laughed out of the ring here in Aus. In Europe it would be a different story Well there you go - learn something new every day. Is it a recessive colour?
  8. The girl in my avatar is my darling Marie (pronounced Marie like Marie-Claire). She is a Basset Fauve De Bretagne - there are only 24 in Australia at the moment, soon to be 25. I have another one as well called Daphne. A family shot of a few of Australia's Fauves
  9. That's my baby girl. She is a wooly or Long Coat as well. So she is very rare indeed. I've not found another Long Coated Agouti anywhere. she is stunning is she still a pup or do you have updated pics?? He was 12mths old last week. This is the only one I have here at work. This is her grandmother Smudge So excuse my ignorance but is that a showable colour in Sibes?
  10. YEs they are I used to groom one You can get phantoms from mating different solid coloured dogs - a black/apricot mating could produce that colouring. Its basically "terrier" markings My parents have brother & sister poodles and one of them is a phantom - charcoal & cream - he is very attractive IMO. I'll see if I can get Mum to email me a pic of Scamp. His sister, Lady, is straight charcoal - ETA I'm sure that there is a much more official name for the colour than charcoal
  11. I've recently watched a litter of Sibe pups grown from day old grubs to 6 month old pups. Three pups who were run on and from a very early age (approx 3 weeks) one of them stood out despite the breeder's personal aversion to colour . I picked the other one for her even earlier - it was the one that always screamed/fought against being held. It always seems that her stubborn puppies are the ones who have a fabulous showy temperament
  12. I showed Saturday but didn't bother today. In all seriousness, now that we have a couple of acres, a full weekend of showing (particularly in Spring) affects the work that gets down around the house too much. I'll probably only do one day of a full weekend from now on as we've spent all day outside working. Though maybe when we don't have QUITE as much rain as we've had this Spring we might be able to
  13. Yeah - Morsha told me he had to do the stewards course. Its a shame that the only way for him to do it is to go to Sydney because Steve would be happy to do it (eta the course) and he is very, very good at staying calm (that is why we're still married AND speaking to each other ). Oh well - maybe they'll have a stewards course at Wagga again one day and he can do it then.
  14. Okay, so theoretically we could. Thanks guys. I'll have to organise for Ashlyn to get Archie changed to Main-Neuter so she can show him on occasion.
  15. Steve has just asked me if we could ever show Mac, our old JRT in neuter or in veterans. He is on Main Register BUT was diagnosed with corneal dystrophy as a baby and desexed (so I figure that cuts out Veterans) and I wouldn't show him BUT could I? I figure as he is on Main Register I could purely from a rules point of view. Wouldn't do it as he is not a good example, particularly given his corneal dystrophy, but I'm curious about whether or not it is possible. Just want to make it VERY clear I do not wish to show Mac, he is nearly 11, he is blind, he is a desexed pet, just curious about whether it is possible.
  16. Thanks Mercedes. Decision needs to be made at 7am then :p
  17. Tomorrow is the first day BUT my neighbour told me tonight that we're on flood alert again with another large rain front coming through tonight. If it pisses down tonight I'm not going to go as I will have stuff to do here tomorrow due to the rain (again :p ) BUT if hounds aren't first up I will look at still going as I will be able to make a decision a little later in the day than 7am.... Can anyone tell me when hounds are on? I will be there on Sunday unless we ARE flooded out
  18. Anyone have a size 14 jacket they'd like to sell? Or suit?
  19. Do they need to have stewarded before or can they be a complete novice? If you get desperate enough I know that Steve will be happy to help out but he has never stewarded before.
  20. That would be my thoughts too - just in case they are worried that you may feel that they let the dog down. I remember one day heading to a show - Marie suddenly slipped the lead and took off. All I could think whilst I was chasing her was that Neil had entrusted her to me and I was going to let him down. When I told him how I'd felt he told me off, of course, for feeling like that but sometimes people can carry an unjustified sense of guilt when their dog dies. A lovely thing for a breeder to do.
  21. Sorry you guys had such a rough day - no gazebos . I heard Marcus went Junior in Group which is very exciting
  22. RIP Eric - I remember when you arrived and how obvious it was you were never leaving. Say hi to Digs for me.
  23. Wow its the terrier month isn't it???
