Sorry - I did know who I meant, truly

True, it does make me laugh now though to be fair that was probably not its original intention!

Marie testing out the whelping box - checking out the flying boobies And Marie deciding that it is quite suitable

Awww so nice to see Georgie & Dexter play together. I can't let Grover play with the Fauves because he plays toooooo rough and they're not a breed (or members of their breed) who find it easy to say "piss off you big idiot, you're hurting me". HOWEVER, Ellie-Mae our Bloodhound X is amazing with dogs of all sizes and can regulate her play to suit. She plays beautifully with Grover and is very vocal when he is too rough so he stops immediately. She also can play with Daphne brilliantly (Marie has been scarred by Grover and doesn't want to play with big dogs ) and has played fabulously with a litter of terrier mix rescue pups. She will be my big dog socialiser for my Fauve puppies as she regulates her play sooo well. I know that Cosmolo would love her - the ultimate pound temperament testing dog.

The other names we've thought you could use with a TV theme are: "Good Times" - JJ "Mad About You" - Murray or Jamie "Futurama" - Leela or Bender I need more TV shows that fit the rule of "they make us laugh" and "their name sounds okay as a registered name" and "there is a character with a name I could live with as a call name"...... Feel free to help out though hopefully 4 will have me covered.

Oh well - I think the drought is over!
-
Yeah we all LOVE the show but Campbell particularly loves Sheldon's use of Bazinga - we just need the best pup to be a male so what is the bet we have a litter of girls!
-
I've been thinking that Fi.

I'm trying to think of themes at the moment but really, really struggling!!! So far we've got TV shows as Campbell really wants a pup with Bazinga as a call name so it would be Big Bang Theory... Wish I had more ideas though. I've thought about doing the Danish/Aussie thing with Frederick & Mary (as Hagen is Danish & Marie Australian) but its a bit obvious really. Neil has always gone with French theme for his litters so I want to steer clear of that if possible. Would love to be really, really clever!!!

Which means leaving them in the bedroom which gets very hot in the afternoon...... Hmmm will have to think of a way to keep the room cool enough without a draught.
-
Thanks Monteba. Hopefully she will cope with being moved as it gets too hot in our bedroom during the day for her to stay there. I'm thinking more of making sure the cats are locked away from her and the pups for a while or am I being ridiculously paranoid? I just have visions of her getting cranky because they'll be so curious (they're all very good friends) and wanted to make sure that she could be locked away from them overnight and I could supervise them during the day..... Worst comes to worst I suppose I could put a giant C-Crate over the whelping box to keep the cats out?????

Awwww he is a bit cute isn't he?

Grand Champions & (new Title) Supreme Champions
Trisven13 replied to SwaY's topic in General Dog Discussion
Nor in NSW (not at any of the shows I attend anywya - their are constant announcement over the load speaker at some shows asking exhibitors to leave the rings). I see it quite often here, but maybe that is because it is on the border? Regularly see people in the ring with new puppies in the breaks, see kids with their dogs just messing around and playing and ALWAYS see people in the ring having photos taken. I think I've said before that I'm surprised others have such a problem with it when I see it so often and, to be honest, 90% of the time it is people who have been showing for years and are quite well-known -
So we've brought the whelping box inside and my plan is to have it in the bedroom at night and then in the loungeroom with me during the day (I work from home so can be a metre away at all times). Is it a problem to move it each morning out to the loungeroom and evening back to the bedroom? Also if it is stinking hot is it a problem to have a ceiling fan on in the loungeroom or are we best to have no fans at all (I've had European people tell me no fans at all but not sure if that is still relevant in an un-air-conditioned house during an Australia Summer).

Knew you'd be hooked -
Awww I just love a Crestie baby.... Will confess I'm not so enamoured of the adults but I just adore the bubs!

My two Fauves play very differently with each other than they do with the other dogs. Even if the other dogs are there whilst Marie & Daphne are in the middle of a game of chasey they will completely ignore the other dogs - even if the other dogs try to join on. It was hysterical watching them try to play last week like normal but with Marie nowhere near as agile with only 2 weeks to go until pups. She normally has the upper hand and Daphne really didn't know what to do when she had control

Why Are So Many Cats And Dogs Being Pts In Pounds?
Trisven13 replied to Leema's topic in General Dog Discussion
This point of Alpha's is very, very true. Sadly, whilst I understand the need for registration etc, an undesexed dog of any age winding up in a pound in NSW and spending a couple of days in there before it is found is going to be an expensive animal to have released. Costs of microchipping (say $30), costs of registration of an undesexed dog ($150), impound fees, fines and boarding costs (say $200.00) totals a figure way out of reach of many good dog owners. Sure they're not ideal owners as they didn't microchip or register their dog but LOTS of families who love their dog are not able to raise the money to get their dog released from the pound. Sad but true. ETA - an article from Albury Pound 5 years ago. My link Sadly this guy was dodgy as, had outstanding warrants and the Sheriff chasing him for unpaid Judgments and never paid back the Good Samaritan who paid for his dog to get out of the pound. -
I got my first show girl at about 4 1/2 months of age - you couldn't possibly have a dog more bonded to its owner than she is to me. Our little import arrived in the country on Monday and was visited by one of our co-owners yesterday. She is very sweet though a little confused about the extreme heat in Melbourne after Ireland's cooler weather. She will leave quarantine on 28 November. Can't wait!

Excellent - one more hurdle crossed

How Much Time Does Your Dog/s Spend On Thier Own?
Trisven13 replied to Pretty Miss Emma's topic in General Dog Discussion
I answered that my dogs are without company 1-3 hours a day on average but it would only be 1 hour on average over the course of a whole week. I work from home so I'm here with them 90% of the time. -
So pleased she is here and doing well so far.
