  1. Mine get nothing.... They're dogs, they don't know its Christmas!
  2. Cool - I love baby puppies with stripes!!! I wonder what it is that causes the stripes and why some breeds have them and some don't?
  3. I must admit I love the stripes and was quite disappointed that only one got the darker stripes - here is a pic of Yellow when she was born (not great quality as I was getting very, very tired at this point ). Fauve pups can also be born with what they call "punch eye" where they have black rings around their eyes or with quite a bit of black in their coats that falls out as they age. Those are the pups that are a stunning red.
  4. Awesome Sway - I didn't know that! Is it only with the blue Danes?
  5. A picture that shows the stripes on Yellow before they fade completely (ETA they'll be gone by tonight I think). I promise from now on that I'll only post pics weekly
  6. Yeah we did the same. It was one of those times whilst whelping that I was really thankful for the experiences I'd had whilst whelping rescue litters as we had to do that on a rescue bitch once. She was honestly the noisiest bitch I've ever had whelp, even louder than the greyhound bitch who ruptured her uterus! If she was a woman she'd be one of those who grab their husband on the balls during labour
  7. Yep that was when she made the big leap out of the whelping box to get away from the alien!
  8. LOL trust me Saffioraire she was a bloody big sook!!! She is a fabulous mum but she whined, cried, growled and barked her way through every contraction . When the first pup was born she jumped out of the whelping box in fright and splattered blood everywhere but by the time the third pup was born she was very confident and she barely made a sound for the fourth.
  9. I've met a number of Salukis and I just love them BUT as others have said they are generally quite different to greyhounds and whippets. I have met a gorgeous red boy called Jasper who can best be described as "like a normal dog" and I adore him. The fact that it is the not typical Saluki temperament I love the most has led me to recognise that they are not the breed for me - best to admire them.
  10. My parents have miniature poodles and they most definitely do not want them clipped in a show style - they would say "I don't want it to look like a show dog". What on earth is wrong with saying that? Their poodles are clipped in puppy clip - I've spoken with their groomer who says that they are actually good dogs to clip because of the care that is taken of them, though the bitch is, well, a bitch
  11. I know - lucky huh? The question is thou, does Campbell get to call one Bazinga Well he believes so . He is convinced that Blue is his Bazinga - I keep telling him it is very early days and that for the moment they are Purple, Blue, Red & Yellow
  12. Thanks guys . She has finished at four which is just lovely. Here is a picture of the proud mama with Miss Purple, Mister Blue, Miss Red & Miss Yellow. Sizes are pretty even with Mister Blue a little bigger than the girls - off to buy some new batteries this morning so that I can weigh them in case that is the problem with the scales. All are feeding well and things couldn't have gone more smoothly. All were born with the tiger stripes when wet but with the exception of Miss Yellow they all faded off when dried which which leave Campbell very, very disappointed . Snuggling with Miss Red - she is the palest in colour with Miss Yellow just pipping Miss Purple for the deepest.
  13. Another girl - not sure if I can feel another one or not, Marie isn't liking me poking around
  14. Yep and I can definitely feel another one in there moving.
  15. Have you got that newest storm yet Rebanne? Bilbo Baggins said that she'd have them when we had storms
  16. Nope, no more yet. Marie looks a little shell-shocked!! She likes the idea of her pup and has let her have a little feed but I think we're getting back to business. Its going to be a long, long night
  17. Only one so far and a girl. She looks a good size but of course, after testing them yesterday, my stupid scales won't work tonight
  18. OMG we have one pup so far....... Too exciting.
  19. It's weird to say no to someone wanting to pat a puppy so it's no wonder people get offended. I intentionally take my puppies to busy places so they'll be smothered by strangers wanting to cuddle them. This is how I am and I'd probably think it was odd if someone didn't let me pat their puppy - I wouldn't be offended but I'd think it was a bit odd . I'm just used to puppies equalling loads of attention from the general public. Until this thread it never occurred to me that someone would NOT want me to pat their puppy. . Not sure that I will change things as I love that my dogs like to meet people and hang out with strangers.
  20. Wow you are going to have your hands full Angelsun!!!!
  21. I trusted my vet to know what she was doing
