Leaving Clam Shells With Water In Dog Runs
Trisven13 replied to mantis's topic in General Dog Discussion
There are two clam shells in my dog's run and they are always half full in the warmer weather. Have done so for around 6 years without issue and expect that I will continue to. The dogs love them and the water stays cool. -
Years ago I had a pup whose eye was punctured by a cat. I spent thousands of dollars saving his eye and his eyesight as he was only a 10 week old pup. I would NEVER EVER do it again. He hated the constant treatment to repair it, he ended up losing 40% of his vision anyway and IMO the constant vet visits, sedation etc at that age had a negative impact on his temperament. Fast forward 9 years and an older dog I owned (8 years old) had his eye "popped" out of the socket through play severing the optical nerve. His eye was removed, he recovered almost instantly and has gone on to live a happy, healthy life without any negative impact. Fast forward 2 years and a friend had a pup with a damaged eye. She fought to save it but eventually gave in and removed the eye and swore that she, too, would never walk that path again.

Can anyone point me to a site that gives me some information about issues a dog can have AFTER a paralysis tick. My friend's dog has had a paralysis tick for which she has been treated. She was released from the vet's yesterday but from 2.30am was crying and shaking with pain. She has returned to the vet this morning and is on morphine for pain relief. The vet is adamant that it isn't connected to the tick, my friend can't help but think it is. I have been able to find sites that tell you about the paralysis symptoms but can't find anything talking about symptoms AFTER recovery from the paralysis.

Wow, didn't even know that State Bred existed.... I've been showing for 5 plus years in NSW.

Advice For My Sister - Issue With Neighbour
Trisven13 replied to Trisven13's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yep I agree Pav Lova - have also recommended she attempt mediation (which we don't think the neighbour will agree to) but at least then she can show the Council that she has made an effort. She has been keeping a diary of incidents for 18 months AND has kept a barking diary for a few days each month for that long. I kept a barking diary whilst staying at her house for 5 days more than 12 months ago and they barely barked at all. I made far more notes of other dogs in the area barking. -

And just speaking with my sister she doesn't want to debark because her vet has told her it is cruel... :banghead: -
Advice For My Sister - Issue With Neighbour
Trisven13 replied to Trisven13's topic in General Dog Discussion
Not sure if that is the case in NSW Claireybell. Frustrating for my sister as she has a fabulous outdoor set up for her cats where they can go in and out of the house into a special set of tunnels and cages. -
My sister has two dogs. From my visits at her house (5 days at a time normally) I can say with great assurance that her dogs don't bark anymore than anyone else's in the neighbourhood and don't bark excessively whilst people are at home. I don't know what they do whilst she is out. She has a neighbour at the back who has made multiple complaints and abuses her over the fence. A lot of the time when the dogs are barking they are barking at a cat from another neighbour that wanders into the property. Council have said that the cat is allowed to wander and she should lock her dogs up to prevent them barking at the cat - is this correct? I've recommended that she look at debarking but I'm not sure how keen she is. She also is adverse to locking them up whilst they're out but she may need to do that IMO and board them whilst they are on holidays rather than getting pet carers in.

I have a very rare breed (currently only 35 in Australia) and have an import arriving in a few weeks. I'd been in the breed for 5 years before I started really looking into it and in that time I had spent a LOT of time networking, finding people OS who were happy to help me both in finding a good breeder to import from AND in helping me understand my breed better, the breed standard, showing me photos, videos etc. Loads of Skype conversations and many, many hours of internet research have resulted in a lovely boy heading out here but I'm very, very glad that I waited before I imported. So... my recommendation is to spend hours online finding dogs you like the look of, google dogs & kennels, follow links to Flickr, to Youtube, to Photobucket etc and then email the people. If you can find people on FB who will add you then try to get to know them. You will learn soooo much more and will have a higher chance of importing a pup that will fill the bill.

Introducing Whistlewoods Aceymac "Acey", Danish, Finnish, International & NZ Champ arriving in Australia shortly. Can't wait for this boy to join my home and look forward to what he will add to my lines. His sire is Shiroblam Top Slip "Uno" who I think it is safe to say, is the top winning Fauve in the world.
-
Please add me, Trisven, Fauves, due approx 8 February. The bitch is on lease for the litter and the litter will whelp at her owner's house so its a bit odd for me having the litter at a distance but exciting nonetheless.

THIS is the sort of breeder who should be nominated for an MDBA Award. Not sure of the category and it is probably too late for this year but can I recommend the nomination? As someone who has been nominated (and was very honoured to win one year) there is nothing like having your nomination read to you over the phone and to recognise that your hard work, blood, sweat and tears is appreciated.

Farewell To Bean On The Forum That Brought Us Together
Trisven13 replied to MightyBean's topic in Rainbow Bridge
RIP Bean. -
They're only 5 weeks old tomorrow but one is starting to look very nice when they're out in the yard, moving etc with a natural stack but I've got some more experienced hound people going over them all for me in 2-3 weeks so I will wait and see if they agree with me first. I don't want to jinx anything which is why they're all still known as Purple, Blue, Red & Yellow lol

Yay!!! I was really hoping she'd tick all your boxes!

Was hoping he would have turned up safe and sound somewhere silly by now.... Like Aziah I'm wondering if he has gone looking for you and been picked up by someone.

Good luck!

Tibbiemax took some photos of my Fauve babies on Monday when they were 4 weeks 1 day old. I think they're completely awwwwwww - I actually have 18 adorable photos she took but just picked three to share.

Looking great Angelsun though I'm sorry to hear about your little boy.
