  1. I had an ultrasound at the recommended time and it showed no pups. One week later it showed 1, maybe 2. She went on to have 4. I'm not sure I would ultrasound in future but would definitely x-ray.
  2. And whilst her condition is poor I've personally been involved in the care of dogs who were in far worse condition and where the RSPCA refused to prosecute. Doesn't sound to me like Mum made it out alive.
  3. I think that the answer to this question probably has some reflection on how long you've been showing :D . I like a prize so that when I use it I can remember when and why I won it. That is because I haven't won a whole stack yet and those I have won are really precious. Cash just wouldn't cut it for me yet but I expect that as I win more I will be quite happy with cash
  4. Enjoy Becks! Keep us updated on FB will you?
  5. Yes she was lovely wasn't she? Such ring presence!!! I loved how the Bloodhound just slobbed around whenever given the opportunity, it was very funny.
  6. Me.... watching the agility etc and updating the breed judging. My new import's father has won Veteran Dog so I'm now waiting (not very patiently) for the rest of the dog judging to see if he gets challenge. If he does then I'll have a late night waiting to see if he wins Breed... Followed of course by an early morning waiting to see how he goes in Group.
  7. Wishing I could watch breeding judging.... My new import boy's Dad has won Veteran dog so far. Would love to be cheering him on.
  8. might have to set the alarm Already set here :)
  9. I've got a deerhound and they are, from what I can tell, more agile than a wolfhound but even still watching that last dog do the V thing (don't know agility terms) made me cringe at the potential for a giant dog to do an injury. I love agility and doing different things with dogs but there are some really good, sensible Wolfhound people on here raising genuine concerns - Keshwar in particular is one of the most level headed people on here and never would poo-poo you unless it was genuinely a concern.
  10. Mac came with it - Wildenfox Macarthur Archie - we spent hours coming up with a cute name Marie came with it - Xkaliba Marie Louise Grover - we were looking for a Scottish name and came across one name that meant "Grove of Trees" and somehow being silly we came up with Grover which seemed perfect Bazinga - my son came up with and it just seemed awesome Mike - he was one of two pups born by c-section as they were heavyweights so as a joke I called them Mike & Tyson - it stuck Ace came with it - Whistlewood's Acey Mac Arrow - he has an arrow shaped spot on his neck Essentially I like names that make me laugh so when picking a name it has to have amusement value. We have, however, decided that we can't have any more dogs with names starting with A or M as it is already getting very, very confusing!
  11. I can understand not wanting an autopsy done - I don't understand not wanting an autopsy done and then publicly saying that the dog was poisoned.
  12. Fabulous result but no surprise as she looked magnificent when run for group at the Hound Club Show in ACT last weekend.
  13. It doesn't make sense and it is also makes her look like a nutter to claim that the dog was poisoned when she hasn't even obtained proof that it was poison. To then try to say that activists were responsible only adds to it.
  14. I'm very surprised that she "declined a necropsy because she was very confident he swallowed poison". Surely if you were that confident you'd want proof??? That doesn't make sense to me.
  15. I reckon my Fauves would work as they're supposed to in a pack and catch a lot of food - hopefully they'd let me eat some.
  16. My issue is with them killing MY things  . For me it is very emotionally based - I don't like other animals (even my own) killing my pets. I feel differently about them if they do. I don't think I'm unique - I have a number of friends who have had one dog kill another and they have felt differently about that dog too, even if only for a number of months.
  17. A good steward is always cheerful, is helpful to new exhibitors (and young exhibitors) and has a voice which carries. I've got to be honest I've only been to one show with a truly horrendous steward who was brutally rude to my son who was showing a puppy in baby sweepstakes for a friend - he was only 7 and her rudeness ensured that he found no pleasure in it that day. Thankfully I haven't seen her in the ring since.
  18. Yep that is how I feel. Logically I can see that foxes have been domesticated at times and made good pets. Emotionally I can't stand the little bastards. Logically I know that the GSD's actions are the fault of its owners. Emotionally I hate it because it killed my chook. Logically I know that the cat was doing what he was bred to do. Emotionally it took me days to get past having to pick up tiny baby chicken body pieces, comforting my daughter who found them in the middle of the night and to not wanting to get rid of the cat. Emotionally I no longer feel the same way about the cat. I'm not cruel to it but I'm not as fond of it as I was before. I will also state that I have a breed that is PERFECTLY safe with my chooks even when "given them on a plate". I have put a Fauve into a crate to feed it a chicken carcass not realising that a chook had put itself to bed in that crate - the Fauve didn't touch the live chook even though it was right in its face. Another time whilst I was out one of my Fauves opened the unlocked sliding door (friends had checked in on the dogs for me as we were out for a long time that day). She then jumped in to my baby bantam chook run and couldn't work out how to get out. I found out that she must have been in there barking for hours - she didn't touch a single chook. There are DEFINITELY dogs who can be trusted around free-ranging chooks completely unsupervised. If that wasn't the case very few farmers would own chooks or dogs.
  19. I couldn't look at my cat when he killed 6 day-old chickens. I'm not as fond of him as I was and I don't trust him at all. I despise the GSD who visits next door and killed one of my chooks. Its even easier to hate foxes. Yes, I totally understand and would feel the same, but do you think your cat is evil or the GSD evil? No but I've also never said that foxes are evil - I think they're feral little bastards who I am happy to see dead on the side of the road. I would be very, very happy to know that (for whatever reason) the GSD never visited my neighbours again and, to be honest, really, really don't like the cat much anymore. Thankfully for him the rest of the family still like him.
  20. Deodorant - after a long hot day I can't be the only one needing refreshing
  21. I suppose I need to take into account that I have spent a bit of time with greyhounds to be able to see it.
