Impounded Bull Breed Put Down Before Breed Assessment In Nsw
Trisven13 replied to BlackJaq's topic in In The News
Apparently they had two dogs impounded but only wanted to get one back. Legally the dog becomes the property of the Council after 7 days, they didn't come to the pound until 10 days after the dog was impounded. -
Impounded Bull Breed Put Down Before Breed Assessment In Nsw

And apparently their other dog is still in the pound. I know a fair bit about this story from both sides. -
Mine is Trisven and is simply a mix of my name and my husband's. About 8 years ago we set it up as an ID on Ebay, before we ever got into dog showing or even joined DOL. It was an obvious first choice and, thankfully, we got it.

My Fauves are shockers for chewing their bedding, particularly the young ones. They HAVE managed to chew a couple of holes but that is after dedicated work dragging it out of crates through the bars etc and I still have vet bed that I've had for 18 months and it is the only bedding I use. It isn't completely chew proof but its as chew resistant as I've found.

I have absolutely no trouble keeping weight off all of our dogs except one..... My daughters fat Cavalier just seems to get fatter still on air. My OH can struggle to get the amounts right for him though.
-
My understanding of how crate training works is that the dog doesn't like to dirty on its bedding so will hold on. Has worked very well for me BUT I've also known of some kennel dogs who will toilet on their bedding and I think they would be much harder.
-
I can second dogmad for house-training issues. She is VERY knowledgable.

Oh she is gorgeous!!! I'm obviously a fan of the Basset breeds but I particularly love the tri-colour Basset Hounds!
-
They are beautiful but your little fuchsia girl really is tiny isn't she? I can understand why you would worry a bit about her, hopefully she will be a fighter and end up the boss of the litter

I'm the reverse of Rebanne and have only ever used green back  and have just as positive comments to make. Am about to purchase more vet bed myself and am going to go half/half with green back and rubber back, purely so I can get some of the prettier rubber back colours

I have been waiting for more than 12 months for this to come to Melbourne and it is the ONE weekend I have a work function that I can't get out of. So gutted -
Way too close to home for me...

What Was Your Latest New Purchase For Your Doggy?
Trisven13 replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
They are beautiful but OMG they would be destroyed in nano-seconds by my feral mob! Vet bed is the best bedding here. Wish I could safely buy prettier stuff. -
What 'stuff' Will I Need To Get Ready For Showing?
Trisven13 replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yeah I would think a wire crate for a Basset as they are so strong. If they can be naughty like a Fauve and a bit chewy I also wouldn't use one. My first Fauve destroyed a soft crate in less than 24 hours so I"ve never bothered since  -
I can't recommend Wayrod from here highly enough for importing. As for ages he will be able to give you the exact details but the youngest age is around 9 months of age as the pup can't have its final vaccinations until around 3 months and then has to wait 6 months before it can fly to Australia (okay, it can leave earlier but it spends all that 6 months in quarantine here). Obviously it is a lot more high tech than that  but the calculations I did when looking into it said 9 months. I opted to import an adult instead - same time limits but I knew what I was getting.

But, as Devil's advocate, if there are people out there with dogs that have TWENTY charges surely we don't want those dogs out there or, if it is more than one dog, those people owning dogs????? Based on the article.

An ultrasound to confirm new Fauve puppies! -
Congrats WreckitWhippet.
-
Ultrasound today confirms that we can be added to this month's list with a litter of Basset Fauve De Bretagne pups due on or about 11 August.
-
Yes that is it exactly. I believe that it is unfair on people who may have purchased into the block SPECIFICALLY because it was pet free.
-
I think it is very unfair on other owners in the property if they bought into the building specifically because it WAS pet free. The person with the dog has every right to have a hearing dog BUT they should buy into a block that allows dogs. I work in strata law and would NEVER own in strata law because I would hate all the restrictions but there are many people who buy into it because of those restrictions.

I really love that there are articles in it and the photo on the front is stunning!

That is awesome!! Well done

Got a really helpful tip this weekend from another exhibitor that I thought I would share on here, strange as it sounds. I was told today that if you sing to your dog as you handle them (breed/group/show line-ups etc) that they will do better. The theory was that when you sing you relax and that goes down the lead. Tried it today, together with a few other things, with my imported boy and he did much better and I really did feel more relaxed. I wouldn't say that I actually sang a song but there is a silly little line from a song that I've always sung to him which I decided to use in the ring and it, combined with bait, resulted in a much more animated and showy dog. We had a blast So don't be surprised if you hear some crazy singing in the ring

Do whatever you need to do to keep your baby safe doggleworth. You are in my thoughts. Yep, same here.
