  1. I've had a recent puppy enquiry from someone who was really concerned that if they got a pup from me they would be expected to show it. Never occurred to me that people would think that until this enquiry.
  2. Fauves don't do much with grace and style
  3. My friend breeds Sibes and shows them to great success - she has bred Sibes who have shown and gone on to a racing career.
  4. Yes excitement definitely growing! Haven't decided on an x-ray or not yet.... Will see how I'm feeling in that final week.
  5. Oooh I love that graph - going to show that to my husband and "steal" it off you!
  6. I came back from 2 days away and Anna had had a "gutz explosion" lol. Even allowing for the fact that it is her second litter in just over 12 months she is HUGE with 3 to 3 1/2 weeks still to go. Last time she only had 2. She already needs a toilet break in the middle of the night so God help us all over the next few weeks. The ultrasound said "at least 4" but I won't be surprised if we have 6 given how she looks. She looks physically like she did when she whelped last time.
  7. So lovely to see Fuschia growing so well. Can't wait to see how she continues to catch up. She is a tough little cookie
  8. Awesome - how is little Fuchsia girl going?
  9. Yeah crazy for sure BUT with a 5 1/2 year old bitch and a 6 year old bitch I figured may as well do both at once - ultrasound shows 4 with one bitch and 5 with the other so if that is accurate then it won't be worse than a large breed litter... So I keep telling myself.
  10. I've NEVER heard of it working like that in a country pound and it sure as hell isn't how the Pound in Albury have been told it works. I will pass this on to them.
  11. It is how it has always been at Albury Pound and was, as I understood it when rescuing from there, how it worked with breed specific legislation. If a dog or pup comes in that the rangers ID as a pitbull then it can't be rehomed. Are you saying that if a dog appears to be a pitbull they have to have a breed assessor come in and assess it? I can't imagine many pounds would have that kind of money available?
  12. The pound were not able to rehome this dog as the rangers had IDed it as a restricted breed.
  13. LOL I don't - will confess I was hoping that entries for the other shows that weekend also were extended to 25 July.... Keep forgetting they're different shows on the same weekend! My mistake.
  14. Yep! As someone who had parvo come through when I was rescuing from a surrendered, supposedly vaccinated young dog I learnt in the hardest way possible. I now look at these posts and look at so many amazing dogs and think how incredibly rehomable so many of them would be BUT I also will NOT EVER AGAIN risk bring parvo into my home by bringing a dog straight from a pound. Others choose to take that risk but I suspect that many of them haven't experienced parvo at their home or had to live with the concern that it had spread to other animals. Its a truly horrendous disease and it leaves the humans involved (if they have any sense) also feeling diseased.
  15. I will confess that part of my issue is that I find her hideous and a large part of that has to do with her disabilities. I feel terrible saying that as I don't believe we should judge humans based on looks BUT I look her and my mind screams "she shouldn't be here". I don't doubt that she is loved and well cared for but I do question her quality of life. I look at her pictures and I cringe - I hate that she was bred, I struggle with how her life has been to stay alive (whilst I really admire her determination to still be here) and I wonder at why she is kept alive.
  16. Awesome - just guaranteed a few more entries from this house!
  17. I thought that looked like red hair!!! Go Tyrone - anyone who knows me knows how fond of the ranga I am!!!
  18. Would be typical as I have to be in Sydney for that weekend for my daughter's 21st and Steve will be home on whelping duty. Thankfully he has as much experience as me!
  19. 25 August? That is also my dad's birthday! Wouldn't surprise me if she does go over as we did a couple of fresh AI's and then got a natural tie 4 days after the first AI
  20. No idea if the other owners know - they don't seem to know or care. This is a situation where I'm stuck in the middle knowing both parties
  21. Apparently Pebbles was staying at their house but didn't belong to them.
  22. After 18 days unclaimed in the pound their other dog was adopted today by a member of the public. Makes me so sick to think that these people can make such a fuss about the pound but fail to mention that they left their gorgeous female staffy unclaimed in the pound. That same "terrible" pound who held on to a dog way past its requirement because it was of a good nature and not a restricted breed.
  23. Okay - please add me again for another litter of Fauves due on 21 August as ultrasound today confirmed 5 pups for my girl Marie (also to my new import Ace).... If only they would come into season at different times but may as well get it all over and done with at the same time  Too excited to think about the workload just yet!
  24. Warning - don't look at the link if you're easily upset. That dog looks like its life would be a nightmare
