Do You Celebrate Your Dogs Bday Or Gotcha Day?
Taliecat replied to Two Best Dogs!'s topic in General Dog Discussion
You should share some pictures! Your doggy birthday cakes are absolute masterpieces! -
I just dosed Dozer with his first dose of Bravecto this morning.. So far he's stopped his chewing at the base of his tail and doesn't seem to be bothered by the effects of the tablet. Time will tell if we get a vombomb on the carpet tonight...

What a truely special pup! I'm just going to finish up bawling my eyes out now..

I love the idea of taping for dogs, it helped me tremendously when I first hurt my back, and it just seems so logical to extend it to our canine companions!

Yep. That's pretty much my outlook on life.. I was really excited when our guide invited us over to his house because he used to have dogs and I knew they were vaccinated for rabies and when we got there he had lots of beautiful birds and some cute bantams but no dogs! You should have seen me every time I saw a cute puppy sleeping in the footwell of a moving scooter or an aussie expat with a dog I was allowed to pat... Eta: going to get my housemate to send me the picture of the puppy at Tanah Lot so I can show you all why we all melted.. It was a matter of escaping before our self control wavered!! -

Our holiday was great, apart from a few bouts of sickness. Our entire groups resolve in not patting the dogs was tested when the cutest puppy was right in front of us at one of the most beautiful temples. He looked a bit like a corgi cross and was playing with a mint lolly across our path.. If our housemate's lady friend was there she would have run away with the pup, luckily she arrived the day after that visit. One of the spa's I visited had a house cat, who was very well looked after and very cute and begging for a scritch.. We also saw a lot of pugs! Can't tell that I'm a dog person at all! -

I'm back! I spent the last day or so catching up on the thread and I'm so happy to see so much progress with Justice!! He's such an amazing boy! I'm also starting to lean towards a muzzle myself thistle.. I'm almost convinced that half the issue with Dozer and his leash reactivity is how OH handles him on walks and the human stressing when OH spots a dog. Because he behaves very differently when it's me in control.. I curse my stupid back issues so much since it limits the walks I can do alone to pretty much zero just in case something does go wrong and I've got 35kg of reactive dog with a 5kg lifting limit.. Might see if we can do a trip to the quieter pet shop next week to get him fitted -
You Care More About Your Dogs Than.......
Taliecat replied to Dory the Doted One's topic in General Dog Discussion
Since I hurt my back, Dozer has been my daily companion. He knows when I'm having a good day or a bad day and we just chill together for a lot of the time but on a good day he's still careful to not play as rough with me as he does with the boys. With my OH working afternoon shift I am alone for pretty much half the day and if I didn't have Dozer to keep me company I probably would have completely lost my marbles.. Most of my friends are animal people and understand where I'm coming from, there's the odd person who doesn't but I usually don't pay much attention. -
I have been known to eat things that Dozer has licked, apart from when he learnt to counter surf; he'd licked the remaining fluffernutter cookies until they were soaked, in the bin they went. I do also do the nothing in my hands move, but he still has to check the floor and where we were sitting

Oh my goodness! They are so adorable Perse! Jeff looks like he's going to be a handful

We're off to bali, I'm a little disappointed I didn't think to organise a volunteer day with some of the rescue agencies over there. I'm so glad our housemate didn't end up coming, I was dreading and stressing about putting him into a kennel.. -

Two weeks, I'll probably get our housemate to do some Skype sessions if we can get a decent internet connection. -
I've got an Aldi trampoline bed, two years old and a little chewed in one corner but still going strong. I can't complain for twenty bucks!

We're going overseas tomorrow morning and I'm so sad to be leaving Dozer at home. We've got a great housemate that will be puppy sitting for us as he's on holidays while we're away , but I'm feeling so stressed about leaving my funny boy. There's a good chance I'm going to end up crying today.. Eta: well, grumbleguts seems to know something different is happening as he's grumbled his way off the couch and is grumbling away still in the hallway -
What Is The Worst Thing About Your Chosen Breed?
Taliecat replied to Steph M's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'd almost forgotten the puppy landshark phase! I have vivid memories of sitting on my kitchen floor crying with a glass of wine, safe behind a baby gate You are not alone! I did the exact same thing, but with cocktails -

Amstaff - the absolute love of everyone to the point of annoyance. I think this one isn't breed specific, how he knows its 5:03pm and dinner has not been served and has to bark like a maniac to make sure we don't forget -

He is every bit as soft as he looks Thistle! I'm always suprised by how soft his coat is and how scratchy it goes if his food isn't agreeing with him. And thank you Snook, OH says he looks "tough " I tend to disagree and call him adorable! I don't have words for how proud I was that he pretty much dozed off while the mower was going, which is actually how he got his name. When he was a wee pup he used to fall asleep standing up, now he's more of a bulldozer -
And The Award For World Class Whining Goes To.........
Taliecat replied to Little Gifts's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'm sorry, I still haven't stopped giggling. Dozer only whines if I'm not fast enough making his food, usually only if it's a special meal like kibble soup (kibble with a tiny pinch of stock powder and loads of water) , or sardines or canned food. Or if he's locked on the patio then wants to come out or in. Or someone has food and isn't sharing! I feel blessed that he whines so little! -

I'm very proud of Dozer this morning. He can be quite noise phobic. We've got the mower and pressure cleaner going at the moment, and he's calming chilling next to me in my craft room with an audio book playing and wearing one of my singlets. No panting or trying to climb into my lap at all! I hope everyone's weekend is going well! Eta : Bonus photo Mum, what are you doing?? -
I literally felt sick reading that
