  1. Thanks for the link kirty! I think I need at least three, one for the lounge room, one for his crate and one for me.
  2. Dozer has his outside trampoline bed and his crate, which has a bolster mat, which is made into a bed with a cotton sheet and he also has a polar fleece blankie in there for when it's cold. Once we get new pillows I'll add a couple of our old ones to the crate, yay for Dozey growing out of his I'm going to destroy my bedding phase. He's also got a little crochet blankie for when he's chilling with me in my craft room, which more often than not you'll find him on top of a single sized foam mattress, which is folded in half and then the blanket sits like a target so he knows where to go sleep.
  3. I have lovely conversations with Dozer. He's a great listener, but the conversation is usually a little one sided unless I'm holding a bowl of food. Eta: I also apologise to Dozer all the time, I wish he could apologise for the times he's stomped on my feet though, or used me as a diving board to jump off/over the couch
  4. What a cutie! Those feet though! I agree with Caz, we NEED more pictures...!
  5. We have a 27L black hawk bin, it's perfect for what we need.
  6. It's probably worthwhile using some sort of tick prevention product, whether that be a collar, spot on or oral treatment as well as avoiding the scrubby areas. Ticks are horrible little creatures and I would rather never give one the chance to get a foothold and stay put on my pup.
  7. As someone with a highly reactive powerful dog I can't speak highly enough about the sporn head halter which I double with his normal collar and have a leash attached to both. It's really increased my level of control and my peace of mind when walking my boof because if he wants to get to something on just a flat collar I don't have the strength to hold on and not hurt myself. The duel collar setup also means if a connection snaps for he somehow slips a collar I'm not left hanging onto an empty leash! I'll also be trialling a thunder shirt on walks to see if it helps with arousal levels as it really worked well for Snook and my boy shows similar behaviours
  8. Sounds like Gus. We joke if anyone broke in he would help them out with the TV and bring them the smaller valuables. Max, the huge mixed-breed down the road was home alone when thieves went thro' his house. But he happily joined in the looting. The thieves emptied the fridge of 'tasties' & closed him in the garden shed to have a feast. He was burping for hours afterwards. His owners said they could believe Max stood beside the crooks helping them choose what he liked best from the fridge. I like to joke that dozer would do this... But he's actually quite a good judge of character and has taken a dislike to one person so far, it was someone who was casing out our car!
  9. It's good to hear happy tales of how breeders terms can work. As a pet owner that would love to get into showing with my next dog I think receiving a pup on breeders terms is a huge honour and a great learning experience in how a great breeder operates. Plus, puppy breath and cuddles if you're geographically close to the breeder as well! I know I'm probably one of the minority of mystery mutt owners that think it's a good system Eta: no typing before I finish my coffee.. Can't spell
  10. We didn't make it out last night, I've been crippled by allergies and had to postpone trying out the treat spoon Dozer's behaviour near home is actually quite similar to justice in his over stimulation, it's only recently I could even get his attention on walks he wasn't even interested in food, and for a staffy type dog I've always found that weird. Eta: brain not working through the allergy fog, sorry if this doesn't make sense
  11. Oh no. My heart dropped as soon as I read the title. I'm so sorry kirty.
  12. I've done another couple of walks with Doze and I'm finding he's lost a lot of confidence, so I'm planning on doing some ground work to get him comfortable with our walking route. I'm thinking a wooden spoon covered in cream cheese or peanut butter will be coming with us tonight. Lucky there's no one else around when we go walking or I'd feel really strange
  13. And 6 months on I still don't have any strange stories other than my wheatpack being torn apart and a new found fascination with the weights from the bottom of the blinds..
  14. I haven't had it prescribed to my dog, but I'm on similar medication for back pain and a common side effect is nausea. I that hope she's feeling better and eating and drinking in the morning. I know my first experience with similar medication had me feeling pretty terrible
  15. We actually do this now, Dozer slinks out of the room as soon as voices are raised
  16. Scoopon have them for cheap as well, and have a $5 shipping cap. https://m.shopping.scoopon.com.au/event/stocking-fillers-for-20-under-43609/product/giggle-dog-ball-360174/ Doesn't look like the real deal, but still boasts the same features
  17. We're not really getting any severe storms, just loud thunder and rain for a couple of hours each night. Usually the afternoon storms are much worse than the night time ones. And his face has been smooshed! That photo is now in queue to get printed onto a canvas in the new year, I can't wait to get it on the wall
  18. Our chances of a walk tonight aren't looking great.. There's a big storm on the radar not too far away I just did a sweep of the house looking for dozer after I sat outside talking to one of the housemates after dinner because he's usually set licking the kitchen floor for at least 20 minutes after I finish cooking just incase I dropped a crumb. The cheeky boy had made himself comfortable waiting for me! He's been getting a bit stressed with the almost daily storms, so I might pull out my Kuta Beach singlet for him again tonight and see if that helps, bonus of it looks adorable! Eta: Just heard the first rumbles now, lucky I forced him into the singlet
  19. It was great to get out and about with him again, he's a good walking buddy and I feel a bit safer being alone at night with him even though we're in a really nice neighbourhood, ignoring that one incident where a bunch of teenagers had tied rope across the pedestrian crossing at midnight and at car height, I know it was teenagers because they were all laughing their asses off when I had to get out of the car to let the rope down.. I'm hoping the weather holds out to let me go for another walk tonight, we've been getting hit by storms all week and they usually hit right when I want to get out! I left about 20 minutes before I had planned to last night and it was a good thing I had, the sky opened up about 10 minutes after we got home
  20. Dozer and I went on our first solo walk (without OH supervision) tonight since I hurt my back. He was a good boy and remembered his manners with loose leash walking for the most part. The sporn head halter was mainly used as a bit of a failsafe, if something went wrong or he decided to try and take me for a walk, it was pretty much unused We did come across one dog (on leash) that I couldn't avoid as I just swiftly turned around after I saw a dog offlead. He took it very well and I was easily able to walk him around in a circle and keep moving! Here's a picture of my little darling from our walk :)
  21. Now this makes my calendar choices even harder! I got the hound exposure one for 2015, and this year was thinking of the QSAR, QLD Police Dogs or The Blue Boyz Calendar... Now with Stan and Maddy I'll have to add Hound Exposure back into the list.. Unless I just get all of them?
  22. I'm pleased to say that we didn't get a vombomb on the carpet after the Bravecto, we always did with comfortis and panoramis..
  23. Oooh she is just gorgeous! If I had my way I'd be surrounded by hounds...
