American bullies make me so angry! They've taken a beautiful majestic dog (APBT) and found the most undesirable traits and bred for them. they're breeding dogs that are so unhealthy. I hate what they're doing to these poor dogs, not to better the breed but to make money..

Hope all goes smoothly for mum and pups. I'm leaning towards 12 - 6 of each! -
We were actually put in a situation where we had to rehome one of the dogs. We chose to rehome our girl Lucy as she was the least problematic of the two. She was the older of the two, but still a very young dog, very biddable and so easy to train and good natured with all dogs. Dozer was not the dog I would have kept if it was solely my choice, but we wouldn't have felt comfortable in rehoming a highly dog aggressive, nurotic, idiot dog with a number of food and contact allergies. Lucy ended up in a good home and Dozer's still with us with all his quirks.

*checks back every hour* Puppies will be here soon! -
Eeeee! They're getting so big!! I can't how big the boy is, I love the picture of secret and the big boy, she's so delicate and tiny.

I don't have an iPhone so had to use the website, Dozer is in most photos an American staffy, some he's a mastiff or when he's got an icecream tub on his muzzle he's an iggy! When he's hiding under a blanket he's a lab. According to the website I'm not a dog in any of the photos I've found Eta: got a few photos to recognise me and the boys.. I'm either a Cav, cocker spaniel or a poodle, OH is an Irish wolfhound and the housemate is a Lab

Essential dog smells so good! OH has been known to use the conditioner in his beard!

Thanks Willem. I am going to let them work it out. The mother has been told that hypo allergenic dogs are what she should be looking for by the family Dr. Although I could point her in the right direction regarding dogs and allergies, I am just happy that they are willing to buy a rescue rather than a dog from a pet shop. I am just wanting to point her to any reputable rescue in Melb that may have dogs that she will love. re a Melbourne rescue. Rescued With love is still going strong rescuing 'lower shed' breeds like maltese but if the little kiddie hasn't had a scratch/prick test by a specialist it would really help rule out trial and error. Saving the dog bouncing out of an adoptive home. :) I'm not allergic to dogs but Shar Pei give me a lasting rash and I know people who get the same contact allergy from foxies but no other short coats. Odd isn't it! I'm dangerously allergic to some cats (can't breathe, it was only my cat out of a 3 cat household that gave that reaction. I still love cats I just can't touch them just in case), and mildly allergic to dogs (my hayfever only started getting bad when we got Dozer), it can really be a bit of a lucky dip and I definitely recommend a rescue where they can do a trial period. I hope they find a pup that fits with their lifestyle and needs

O M G! Calendula Tea Rinse
Taliecat replied to RiverStar-Aura's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I've got my own success story with calendula, we picked up a tube of commercial calendula cream in Bali for OH's fresh tattoo when we were there. I've been using it for my itchy bites, and on Dozer's contact allergies and he looks so blissful when it's been applied. He has also been getting mucky ears from his food allergies and I'd applied a little dab on the outer section one of his ears after I cleaned them a couple of days ago and today I found the cleanest ear I've seen in months! -
Dozer still steals the occasional sock and he's almost three! He just looks so happy when he steals one I can't help but laugh as he does hotlaps around the house. I tend to make sure that all enticing items are not in reach of him and do a lot of swaps.

I've used both canidae and mfm and I actually prefer MFM as Dozer was rotten on canidae. As in clear a room for 10 minutes with a single fart! They're both really highly rated foods on petfood advisor which has always played a part in my considerations for food. Dozer has been on MFM for over a week now which is more than enough time for him to react badly and his coat and ears are getting better every day. As we're only getting the smaller bags at the moment the larger kibble size isn't an option (only 20kg bags have the option of larger kibble) but he gets other safe chews to help clean his teeth.

My allergy prone boy is currently on Meals for mutts fish based after black hawk stopped agreeing with him. He's doing really well on it so far! In less than a week his coat has stopped it's mad shedding.

Thanks PM and Harley. Christmas day at the in-laws place was pretty emotional for a bit. I had a bit of a cry when we got there and saw the card the vet sent. Run free little Tanika

We took down the Christmas tree today which has allowed Dozer to get back to the front windows.. This is a bit of a problem spot because the roaming cats in the neighbourhood tend to wander through our front yard and Doze wants to go through the windows to get to them. So as an interim solution we've covered the windows in cardboard until I remember to get really cool window film that thistle linked me to. Now Dozer is wandering around the house sooking because he heard something outside and can't see what it is.. Sometimes I really wonder what is going on in his head. -
Dozer is pretty vocal. There's his, people are here! bark, where's dinner? Hello, I haven't seen you before now so far today (only to the boys of the house, he loves his boys),I hear something outside and it's freaking me out!, play with me!, excuse me, I think you forgot to let me inside and now I'm going to yell at you from outside to let me in. And when the boys get home from work there's the, that's my tail bashing against everything, and I'm crying to go say hello noises. And he grumbles about bedtime and being moved from the couch, housemate's beds and into his crate Doze isn't allowed to bark for no reason and he'll be herded inside/on the patio to stop him from doing so but I love all his random barks and whines and grumbles for different situations.

Go thistle! That's a great outcome! Dozer has lost his fear of our little squirt bottle that we use to stop him from jumping on the glass doors and windows when he decides to hunt geckos and now enjoys playing bite the water. I'm hoping that one day in the not so distant future he'll decide the hose is the same so we can have water fun days when it's hot. He also recovered beautifully when OH used the grinder the other day! Came and sat on the couch with me, not sitting on me like he normally would with loud noises and no panting or whale eye! For a very noise phobic dog he did so well! -
Thank you Scottsmum. We went and saw her after I made the post and she looked so very tired. it's going to be a hard Christmas Day without her there stealing pats and cuddles from everyone.

You're not my dog, but you've lit up my life every time I've seen you. It's not fair. We lost your brothers last year and now I've got to say goodbye to you as well. I'll miss your wagging tail and magnificent temperament and the house will seem empty without you in it. I love you little Tanaka and you'll soon be without pain and feeling better over the rainbow bridge where we'll meet again. Give Steel and Bandit and lick for me tomorrow when you see them once again.

Arrgh how scary! Dozer used to go on adventures with Lucy when she'd break out, but now he's by himself he has no interest in leaving the house. He'll even just stand at the front door while it's opened and closed and won't put a paw out, but when one of the boys left the gate open he went for a quick run over the street. He still has no interest in going anywhere now even after his little adventure. -
What's Your Favorite Command / Trick?
Taliecat replied to Scottsmum's topic in General Dog Discussion
My favourite trick for dozer is "go wake dad up ", which involves him racing through the house, busting through the bedroom door which I may have left slightly open and covering OH in kisses with a loud RooRooing. Favourite trick that doesn't involve waking up the boys or OH is bang you're dead. We can't stop the tail wagging though! -
Sars, When we had two dogs, we'd often have to break up scuffles and unfortunately a real fight or two. OH ended up with a bitten finger from separating them.
