  1. We've got a vet trip today for his first adult vaccines so I don't think I'll be able to get some RR or manuka honey today, but I will be getting some for future cat rides! Poor guy loves getting in the car but there will be a huge puddle of drool when we get to our destination, and that's not counting the drool that ends up on us from him sticking his head behind our headrests in the front..
  2. Dozer tends to drool a lot when there is either food involved or he's panting a lot, it's not uncommon for me to be sitting on the couch and he'll jump up and sit over me and drip onto my lap. Lucky I love him, cause it's probably the grossest thing I can think of that he does. I think I'd throw up if he had an anal gland incident like in the OP Edited as I remembered something worse: Wthere was an incident when the dogs ate soursop freon the tree in the back yard, Explosive squirts in our bedroom at 2 am on carpet, with the most foul odor. I had to get Mr TC to clean it up because I couldn't stomach the smell. And it was cream coloured carpet in a rental!
  3. My boy is now 16 months old and still gets stressed out in the car, but if you open the door he jumps in without hesitation, I would love to know if there's anything I can do to have him stress less as well Eta: posted before I was finished typing
  4. Further to my love of smooth coated sighthounds, I adore Salukis but Borzoi just seem to be too fluffy..
  5. I love the look of greyhounds and Whippets, not so keen on Italian greyhounds though, I think it's the size..
  6. Trinabean being excited about dog poop seems to be a requirement of this forum (the amount I've learnt about the importance of good poos from DOL is amazing) and it's great to hear your boy is doing so well!
  7. Wow! Fantastic photos and such a wonderful collection of your notes and experiences. Now I'm considering Italy for my honeymoon after reading your adventures.
  8. What a handsome dog he has grown up to be. Happy birthday chaos!
  9. I keep finding myself popping back into the photos thread just to see if part 4 is out yet. Your photos and the accompanying story of your Italian trip are wonderful
  10. No disrespect taken! I would have much preferred for him to stay within the breed standard as I didn't want a big dog, but the bugger just keeps growing! I much prefer the slimmer more streamlined (and to standard) appearance. I guess it just shows how much variation in size can come from two very average sized parents.
  11. My amstaff is 33kg... And only 16 months old. He's not a fatty either, we deliberately keep him quite lean. He's just a genetic abnormality as he's much bigger (taller/longer) than both of his parents.
  12. I've got one of the slow down bowls and I'd say it takes my boy maybe a minute to finish eating. I've taken to scatter feeding kibble over the patio area so he has to look for the food. Now takes about 10 minutes on the patio or 20 minutes on the grass in the back yard.
  13. Looks amazing. I wish our house layout would allow for gates...
  14. About 20kg in my experience... They are very similar in temperament, both great with kids, an American Staffordshire terrier is a lot more dog to handle in terms of size.
  15. And it's people like this that mean I can't walk my (highly reactive) dog in my neighborhood. The amount of small white fluffies that are off leash around my place is astounding
  16. It looks great to me. I wish I had the space for one!
  17. Well.. Dozer just got to lick the wooden spoon after I made cheese sauce. He also ends up with the occasional steak chopped up and frozen in a block of stock for hot days. He'll also get to lick the ice cream bowls when we do have dessert.
  18. The urge to give into the puppy cuteness is growing! Why didn't I join the boycott of cute pictures earlier?!?
  19. One is the number for the moment due to our highly DA boy... I really enjoyed having two dogs and in a decade or so when Dozer goes over the bridge we'll look at changing breeds to something a tad smaller that I can show.
  20. For some reason the budwiser ads always leave me teary eyed. ..
  21. I must be odd. I still consider that to be within normal pet ownership limits. But then I believe I'm destined to be a crazy old dog lady (at one stage it would have been cats, but as I've gotten older I've gotten more allergic to them).
  22. Yep. Been given the go ahead to fund the project now I know the end product should last now than 5 minutes with destructo dog. Really hope this makes its funding goal
  23. I used to get skinnies for our boy and was excited to see they bought out a durable one. But alas I have a destroyer and the durable skinny toy lasted all of an hour
