  1. Just picked up a bag today after Dozer started madly shedding and itching on BH. Not so excited about the price, although I'm pretty sure the 8kg bag should last a month or so; works out to about $3/day which I guess isn't terrible when you break it down... Was very happy to walk into Best Friends and the OH pointed out the Ivory Coat sign and asked if that was the one I'd been taking about in my crazy dog lady rants.
  2. When we had Dozer on the canidae fish he was rotten. He'd clear the house in less than 5 seconds. Now he's pretty good for farts on black Hawk, but his coat condition has gone to poop.. That being said, occasionally he'll be given eggs, milk kibble and a roo bone by the OH and then he's back to clearing rooms...
  3. Have never heard of this show before, watched it entirely for the Greyhound! I think I might have to keep watching it.
  4. I think I watched the video at least half a dozen times. That GR was the happiest dog on earth
  5. Call them back 'My friend was the one that knocked it over, she just blamed the dogs, but when I told her insurance wouldn't cover it she came clean' :p you may also need to come up with a reason as to why she couldn't have picked it up before the entire 2ltr bottle was emptied A lot of insurance companies log each call even if a claim was not made to prevent insurance fraud. It's a great way to get your coverage canceled
  6. There's so much just on the first page that I want!
  7. kitty litter should also absorb some of the oil I believe the paper based type
  8. Oh wow! Little Gifts, that's pretty intense that the power went out mid show! Those stage lights are horrible! Thanks for more ideas JRG, I'll add a clothes horse to the list of things to buy. I've been alternating between a cold wet cloth in front of the fan on Dozer and I pretty much all day. Although he pretty much just gets a wipe down, I have the cloth draped over various major arteries to handle the heat! I keep checking the BOM and Higgins storm chasing to see if there's anything coming, I swear I can hear thunder rumbling in the distance... Please storm cool things down!
  9. As a kid under our mango tree was the coolest place to be in summer. Every blind in the house is closed except for the one to the patio, which gets no direct sunlight. And every fan going... Dozer is currently laying on the tiles in our dining room area where it's coolest after Mr Taliecat kicked him out of the bedroom, he's not panting as rapidly anymore and is looking much more comfortable. I think I may look at a cool mat or cool coat for the rest of summer. It's our first summer without the air con and we thought the house was well insulated enough, but I might reconsider our hot weather plan..
  10. Unfortunately can't get anywhere to buy a cool coat It was Mr taliecat's birthday last night and he's in no condition to drive. I might do the fan with ice though
  11. So the south east region is having a little bit of a heatwave at the moment.. Out my way, which is a little bit west of beenleigh we hit 37 degrees yesterday and expecting 40 today. And of course we moved into a house that doesn't have aircon... In an attempt to keep him comfortable he's had: some dogscicles (iceblocks made with weak stock and goodies) a frozen bone for breakfast (AKA Meat popsicles) got to play with/munch on some ice. I've wet his tummy, chest and thighs down. And let him inside to lay on the cool tiles - our tiled areas are about 8-10 degrees cooler than outside. He still seems quite uncomfortable, as he's decided to join us on the couch instead of the nice cool tiles next to the couch.. He unfortunately has gone off his shell pool and won't have a splash in it to cool off.. Although if it gets much hotter I might, and it wouldn't be the first time.. Can anyone offer some other suggestions to keep him cool and comfy? I am keeping an eye on his gum colour and making sure he's not exhibiting major signs of heat stroke..
  12. Oh wow! What beautiful dogs! I had a short haired chi as a child, I remember her getting re homed after a year or so as my mum wasn't really too keen on her. As an adult we have an am staff boy who is a real handful, but a real loveable boy when he's not going at a million miles an hour. I'm hoping he mellows a little with age.
  13. My heart and prayers are with you during this heartbreaking time. Run free over the rainbow bridge Lucy.
  14. I completed it. It was interesting to review my own habits
  15. I too would like to know the scientific reasons for all that too :) The only thing I can think of is to test how easily it digests, but I'd love to know more
  16. Oh she's so adorable, those tiny little paws! But fantastic to hear that she's much closer to you, and starting to behave life a normal pup.
  17. He was a beautiful dog, in both appearance and in the work he did. Run free over the rainbow bridge
  18. Completely off topic...but, I too do not have a penis, and have a big boofy amstaff who (until he outgrew it) had a lovely purple harness and leash set.. everyone would tell me what a nice girl he was. .. But yes, until idiots stop buying amstaffs and similar dogs there will be a culture of fear with dog owners, but to be perfectly honest the off lead small white fluffies are the reason we only go for walks at 1 am. .
  19. The dog hiding under the giraffe is hilarious, I also feel for the GSD on the bench that looks terrified. Poor little mite.
