This is so true. I was trained by Dozer with his pitiful moaning and trilling.. Now I just feel like an evil mumma and wait him out.

Our Lou was a bit of an escape artist.. In our first place she squeezed herself through a small gap between the back and side fence and would just sit in the front yard watching the world go by until we fixed the issue. She was a funny girl.

Wow. It's hard to believe that's not a photo.

What a cutie, he looks like a rockstar.. I Think it's the collar

Omg DD, I didn't know you liked HHC... I'm seriously struggling to watch the ping cuteness through the overwhelming urge to chair rave.

I was reading on news.com that JD is facing about $1m in costs. The groomer apparently also had permission to post the photos.

Not in my house! I need the warm furry type to keep me from shivering on a crisp night. That and I can't see a robot dog doing zoomies while stealing my undies or socks to keep me entertained and laughing. Because I swear he does it just to crack me up..

What's The Weirdest Thing Your Dog Has Eaten?

One of the family members had a staffy that ate an entire bag of blood and bone. Also the same staffy ate all the kids Easter eggs one year.. Actually so did my other in-laws staffy.. Both staffies were completely fine! -
Wow, I thought your sketch was pretty special. This is just a whole new level of wow!

Lately I can't stand the smell of cooked eggs! I definitely feel for you DD

I did up a batch of food for Dozer yesterday. I sloshed in a bit of beef stock (salt reduced would be better), mince, rice and cooked chicken breast and then simmered until the rice was cooked. Then i mixed through some olive oil and coconut oil. Dozer has gone nuts for it every time I've nuked some for his meals, and my housemate had a good stare at the container and announced that it's fit for human consumption as well... I'd say the addition of eggs would have been a great idea, all depends on how much you're making. I probably would have used two or three with 500g of each chicken and mince, but I think any more would be very rich.. Not to mention the gas!

New Puppy - Stressed Owner - Crate Training/yelping
Taliecat replied to Blackdog10's topic in Puppy Chat
great to see that you've worked out a system that works for the two of you! I second needing pics. If you're using the full version of the site you can link photos that are uploaded from photobucket or another image hosting site by clicking the picture button and pasting in the direct link from photobucket. -
It made sense to me! But I've been looking up the genetics of eye colours lately. I remember back in school I used a grid to work out the genetic chances of inherited traits..

I'm in this sort of predicament myself only we've got a dog that won't settle if the crate is in our room. We're going to stock up on opshop blankets and pop the crate back in the living room on the weekend. My back can't take a 35kg dog stealing my pillows and pushing me out of the way

Hopefully she'll have a much better nights sleep, and lets us know how they go tomorrow. Sleep dep, no food and a screaming puppy would be one of my worst nightmares.

It sounds like you need to take a deep breath, have a cup of tea and just let pup sit/snuggle into your feet.. It's a big scary world for a puppy, and as others have said, he's away from his mum and siblings. He's in a new place, with new smells and is tiny and all alone. I was dead against having our pup sleep in our room and had the laundry all set up with a comfy bed and snuggle toys, but he didn't want to have a bar of it. I think I lasted about 5 minutes, if that of listening to him cry. He ended up sleeping with us for the first month or two (we were late crate trainers), and he moved himself into the laundry with no fuss once he felt confident. Because he was with us at night, he would let us know if he needed to go out for a toilet trip and house training was SO quick, maybe 3 weeks if that. I cried and pulled my hair out with Dozer as a pup, he was frustrating and we didn't bond at all, not to mention he LOVED to bite me with those sharp puppy teeth and would launch himself at my sleeves if I was wearing a jumper, it had to be destroyed (only with me mind you). Dozer wasn't much of a cryer, and didn't mind being left alone. So I can't compare that to a hysterical puppy. Puppies are hard work, and sometimes you've got to take baby steps towards your end goals (sleeping in a different area, being independant etc). I found puppies were a lot different to what I was expecting (I'd had cats previously). It's hard, you'll love them and hate them and want to send them back at times. But it does work out in the end.

This is exactly like Dozer, my amstaff boy.. He frustrates me to tears when I try to teach him new tricks.. While he loves the cheese/liver treats/other tasty things, he's just as likely to just look at me like he's thinking, "you want me to do what? And for that... Maybe..." We also had a bull-arab mix, Lucy before Dozer hit maturity and decided to hate all dogs, she would work flat out for a crumb of kibble, throwing herself into any new behaviour I was training. She wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but my gosh I loved training her and her eagerness..

I used to swear by Nilodor when I had rats.. it doesn't cover the scent, it just seems to make it vanish! Although if you use enough of it, it does have it's own subtle scent.

Wow, that shelter seems a littl, well foolish for turning away assistance when a breed expert is offering it. He is a beautiful looking boy though, I hope he ends up in the right home.

Ooooh! All those gorgeous silver faces! I have a little bit of a weakness for them!

Nexgard - Has Anyone Tried This Yet?
Taliecat replied to Tilly's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Great success story on NexGard! There sure were a lot of ticks on the poor little guy -
I cried when I read this. That's a beautiful picture. Run free over the rainbow bridge Emmylou

When Dozer was a wee puppy we rushed him to the vets one morning as he had green snot coming out of one nostril and was not his usual terrible puppy.. He had a seed or something similar up his nose, yep we had the puppy equivalent of a toddler with a cocopop up his nose.. OH has also had a couple of freakouts about nipples
