Ear Yeast Infection From Food?
Taliecat replied to BullBreedBoy's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
We use black hawk fish and potato for our allergy ridden amstaff boy (blue of course). He'd never had a problem with yeast until we fed him ivory coat. The black hawk fish and potato is the only food (so far) he comes good on! I don't like how he reacts to the lamb and rice myself, he loses a lot of coat condition with starts dropping coat like mad, which happens on pretty much every food we've tried except the fish and potato and ivory coat. -
Dozer is a pretty chilled dog and will happily just sleep on my bed during the day, but if any of the housemates or my partner (all boys) are home he likes to chill with them rather than me most of the time. He's definitely a boys dog.

Wow, I knew there was a bit of controversy over crates, but not that much! Dozer loved being in his crate while it was in the lounge and now drags me to his crate at bedtime. During the week I popped him in his crate while I had a dog free shower and gave him the choice after I'd finished my shower if he wanted to go outside or stay in his crate, he looked at me, looked at the open door to the patio and put his paws back in the crate!

I'm so keen for this!

Oh my dog.. Those squeeks! I think I just melted a little!
-
Hahhaha.. I do this too! Dozer was getting a frozen fish fillet every now and again from when I bought a big bag of frozen fish on one of my failed health kicks.. He loved them, and they didn't reek up the place like sardines.

Dozer's back to being ridiculously cute.. He found a tennis ball down the back of one of the arm chairs this morning and we were happy to let him chew on it to settle. But instead he kept coming over to me and dropping it in my lap and pushing it gently with his nose in an effort to get me to play with him. OH confiscated the ball (no playing inside!) and he went back to the magical armchair where he found the ball to see if there was another one. He's now snoring away on my lap for his morning cuddle, and I know if I pick up my knitting project he'll move.. *sigh* the sacrifices we make for our puppies!

I love these type of news stories. The work the prisoners do with the dogs really changes them and it's great for the dogs as well.

Hmm... I may have to start cooking more pumpkin.. I LOVE pumpkin skin, as does Dozer.. OH isn't as keen and feeds Dozer his skins.. Might have to do a roast pumpkin soup and reserve all the skins for medicinal purposes.. (and noms for me!)

Help: Which Of These Plants Is Causing My Dogs Itchy Skin?

Both Dozer and I are allergic to number 2.. Doesn't make for fun times to pull it, it just won't go away in some parts of the yard, the rock garden in particular.. -
What Have You Learned From Your Dogs?
Taliecat replied to Henrietta's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've learnt to be patient. Puppies can be frustrating and nothing went the way I wanted it to until he was over 12 months. I've learnt to forgive and forget, my favourite pairs of undies being chewed was my fault for leaving them out. I've learnt to laugh more, especially when zoomies are involved. Even when it's a pair of underwear being held hostage. And I've learnt to love unconditionally. Because nothing melts my heart like a 35kg dog climbing onto my lap for a cuddle. I've also learnt that said 35kg dog is a bed hog. -
These have all put a giant smile on my face. So much cute

Lately Dozer has gotten into the routine of climbing onto my lap of a morning for a snuggle. He'll wait until I've put down my knitting or crochet project and lean into me or just settle down across my lap. It's a huge change to the hyperactive young dog who would have run off with my ball of yarn 6 months ago, he's turned into a total snugglebum! Do any of your dogs do anything cute or just something that makes you go naaaaw?

I've read these before, but there are new ones ! Those are priceless

He's so itty bitty! But huge on cuteness! He's so lovely, I can't believe he's 6 months old already!

Help With Staffy Puppy Diet & Allergy
Taliecat replied to Jorgo's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Wow! The poor little girl, those are some serious allergies! From those allergy numbers it sounds like chicken may not be the best for her either, but fish may be an option.. Well.. I just read her full allergy results and white fish is a nope, maybe salmon? I love ivory coat, it's a great food and my boy loved it, but he's an American staffy and has allergies too.. No where near as bad as your poor little one but gets yeasty from the amount of peas in ivory coat. I feed black hawk fish and potato which does have some brown rice from memory.. Vets all natural may be another option with a novel protien like goat.. If you have chat with your vet, there is a prescription dry food with a hydrolysed protien that may be ok.. -
Must be a dust storm, seems that I've got something in my eyes, a lot of something. *bawls*

My amstaff is stubborn as hell.. I believe bull terriers are also pretty stubborn.
-
Arrgh that would frustrate me to tears.. No follow up, doing the exact opposite.. Oso you must have saintly levels of patience. I was the over prepared puppy preschool pupil that read over the class notes for the upcoming week and made sure Dozer could do that weeks focus at least 90% of the time without distractions, and we'd then work out the kinks in class where there were really interesting things for him to get distracted by. That said, I don't think Dozer was the right fit for us, and I worked hard and cried many a time. We worked it out, and I love my little snuggle bum.

Apparently I've got connections to gold coast bikies.. And I'm a bit of a thug by the sound of it. Bahaha oh dear.. Eta: Just read the SBT one.. actually sounds a hell of a lot like me, including the 6 hours of say yes to the dress (I was in the middle of picking a dress! Don't judge me) minus the neck tattoo

Denali, I've also read that list and discussed it with a dacci owner.. She wasn't impressed.. They're just soooo cute!
-
I've given my boy salmon heads on the odd occasion. He loves them. We just gave them to him as one piece to encourage him to have a nice long chew session.
-
Wow, I also had no idea. I was surprised to see corgis and mini bull terriers on the list, actually most of the breeds came as a bit of a shock.

My dog is a total dag because today we got a new oil heater and he was growling and making a big fuss until I showed him that it was ok by putting my hand on it.. That boy really doesn't like new household items..
