    Ankle Biting

Whenever a puppy bites my ankles I stop, and in a laud growly voice I say arrrggg. They get the message really quick
  3. Glad I was able to help, took us 2 months to work out what her problem was. I carried a spray bottle on my belt and just squirted it when we were walking and playing and whenever I was near her. It worked
  4. Not just Staffords, Shar Pei are the same. I climbed out the toilet window once after they winged at the door because I would not let them in you should of seen the look on their faces when I walked in the front door All it did was make them worse though, but was good for a laugh :p

    Not Eating

Didn;t Shekina have the same problem with Daegon?
  6. There is nothing wrong Lillysmum with using a spray bottle as a deterent. As long as it is not abused, a tried and true training method. Normally it only takes 2-3 sprays for the dog to realise, and then picking up the bottle is enough I had a foster dog that was scared of spray bottles, it was the noise they made not the bottle itself. We eventually worked out that the spray bottle sounds like a hissing cat and she was terrified of cats. What springdog said works I would also like to add that the pup is 12 weeks, is following you because he loves you and is a Staffy and that is what they do.
  7. I have not hand raised pups so I cannot say, but do you only have 1 pup? Better to have 2 for socialisation and warmth if you can You are doing a great job
  8. My dogs do the same with my lambs wool slippers, but not the synthetic kind Maybe it is the lambs wool, has some animal odor still that only she can smell?
  9. I have not read all through the replys, but when I have foster puppies and we are training, I tie one pup up to the fence, and the other is on a lead focused on me, The one on the fence screams and barks and carries on, and for the first few days it is hard to get anything done and they try and go to eachother, but after a few days of perserverance, they sit quietly and watch what the other is doing. It also makes them learn faster
  10. What ever works for you then do it, as long as the puppy knows that you are the boss and you train her I like my dogs crate trained, once they are housetrained they sleep on beds in my room, but until then they are crated, safe and sound from the other dogs Glad everything is going well with the other dogs
  11. Could you spray the neighbours dog with water from a hose? Seeing as he is insigating the drama, wait until the heeler starts and spray him I know the council are no help to you either Wish you luck
  12. Thinking of you and Ollie, and that yummy scotch finger biscuit
  13. LOL, I always take ages to name my keeper dogs, the foster get a name quick smart, we just run through names until they answer to one Jewel waited 6 weeks before she got her call name' Zephyr we had for a month Ned we had for 2 weeks A name will come sooner or later, at the moment he is just puppy
  14. I would also recommend returning her to her litter mates for another 1-2 weeks if possible, she is too young to have left home yet. Good luck
  15. Thanks for asking BellasPerson My pup is adorable we are all smitten, including the Shar Pei, my bitch Jewel sits outside his puppy run and crys for him to come out and play lol He sleeps through the night 10-5.30am, not even a wet spot in the crate. I am hoping that I can stretch the 5.30am to 6.30am as he gets older, I need that hours sleep He still does not have a name yet, but is doing wonderfully
  16. Try Advance Puppy Growth formula, I have had alot of luck with dogs with dry skin Also Megaderm, Omega 3 and 6 added to his food 3 times a week I would also recommend maybe some raw chicken mince in his food for the essential fats When you wash him do you use a soap free shampoo? A soap free shampoo is gentler on the skin
  17. Great news that she slept through the night, congratulations, I bet you are feeling better today
  18. I can totally understand how you are feeling, I too have a new puppy I am trying to crate train. Never get up to them, never settle them, ignore them (unless the cry is obvously painful) He sleeps in the ensuite in a crate, covered up, he cannot see us and we cannot see him. The first 5 nights were hard he cried all night. Now I put him to bed at 10pm and I get up at 5.30am and put him out in the puppy run to toilet, he sleeps through the night, no crying. You have to be cruel to be kind
  19. I do not think that a muzzle is a good idea, it could lead the puppy to think he can walk all over your Dobe when the muzzle is on, if will also leave her unable to correct a naughty puppy when he does need it I would supervise all play, be the pack leader and not allow things you do not like to go on,
  20. He is so cute looks like a keg on legs, I can totally understand why you kept him. When you have the food worked out, tape yourself and other people talking loudly. Play the tape on soft volume where he can hear it day in day out, slowely increase the volume, never really loud though I am working through similar problems with a Shar Pei I got from Renbury recently this seems to be working for her goodluck with him, I will also add that the TOT works aswell, sidoney sent it too me and I have been using it
  21. I will admit to not reading the whole thread but when I have a foster dog like you have I will sit with them in a small room reading a book while they eat. They cannot leave, you do not look at them or say anything, just totally ignore them and read your book. I do this for 1 week, then the next week I talk to them while they eat but do not touch them, then after another week I pat them while they eat, if any of this goes wrong we go back to the previous step Could we see pictures?
  22. I would take the outdoor furniture out of the yard until he is bigger
  23. My thoughts are with you Karen, if you ever need anything even if it only a blubber on the phone give me a call I hope that all goes well for Wags and his Xray gives the results that you need Sending positive vibes your way
