I would get her done before you plan to run them together permanent
Normally around 6 months is a good age to get dogs desexed

I agree Winterpaws, looks like a cross between a Ridgeback, Pharaoh Hound and a Shar Pei!! As you say though, each to their own, im sure there are many people out there that are not that fond of Whippets either!
Interesting looking dogs though.
I think they are unique looking but cannot say they are ugly due to owning Shar Pei which are an acquired taste They look alittle Basenji to me too
Somehow i dont think it will ever be a "bogan" breed, not with the vast array of dogs with allready documented 'Reps' for "bogans" to choose from.In fact i dare say that such a rare and ancient breed would be well regarded, and looked after.
And in one point of time the Shar Pei was considered exactly the same way, I remember as a kid the Pei was the 'Rarest Breed' in the world BYB's changed that.
I agree, although the biggest problem Pei have recieved due to BYB is their easy marketing as "Roly Dog" being such adorable puppies

I agree Daisy
So many, far too many
RIP all the sweet ones we could not help
Maybe next year will not be as bad

Sounds like the Lamb set it off
Lamb is very fatty and some dogs as they age have trouble with too much fat
I would be getting blood tests to check her fat levels
-
I have had many male dogs desexed through rescue and find it is only the female adults that take longer to recover
Just gentle exercise

My Shar Pei bitch carried on for 13 nights before I caved in and let her sleep in a dog bed on the floor of my room
I slept with my hand on her most of the night and it made her happy
I crate trained her in the day time and over small intervals but she was 4 months before she would go into the crate at night and sleep with no crying
Some dogs hate crates
I would put her in your room for the first few nights to get her used to it, or sleep in the room she is in
-
My dogs are 4 and 5 and still do this with their beds
-
I was hoping that puppy would throw off the thoughts of a baby, sorry SL
I would desex her at 5 months, easier on her, her growing bones too
-
I used the chicken frame tied around a tree to help me deal with an over active BC foster and a destructo Labrador, kept them busy for hours
Although the BC riped her down to eat it, the Lab was not that smart LOL
-
Peibe, I was just about to post at least its not a human pup :D
Great minds think alike
-
At least it is a puppy and they did not make you a Grandma LOL
Any chance of pics? I am extremely curious as to what that breed cross would look like
-
Shar Pei are the same
In the 4 weeks that I have had 5 fosters living in my house I have lots 3 lots of toilet paper 12 packs LOL
I also play Scarey Monster, they love it LOL
-
You forgot toilet rolls Poodlefan
Many dogs will throw them around and have a ball
-
She sounds like a really smart pup who needs to work
After seeing pics of her I thought she looked like she had some Cattle in her and they are clever dogs
She needs agility, obediance, structure

That sort of swelling on a Pei is quite normal if they are allergic to bees
Remember they have a normally swollen face to begin with and it is the eye region only that is affected, his mouth normally looks like that
4mg tablet of Polarimine per 20kg of doggy
Ice pack on his face too to help the swelling
Watch him carefully if he has trouble breathing straight to the vet
If he was mine and had that allergic reaction I would take him to the vet straight away
I keep an EPI pen in the fridge for Jewel in case she gets stung, last time I almost lost her

So sorry to read this Horus and so sad that you had to make the hardest decision
I hope Ellie is alright and recovers quickly and well
RIP sweet Cleo, chew all you want and run free
This is a reason Pei should never be crossed, I am sad you had a cross and this is the result
My thoughts are with you

Not sure why you would complain about the pup being vaccinated at 8 weeks, pups are meant to be done at 8-10 weeks, NOT 6 weeks.
Everyone I knows vaccinates at 6 weeks so the pup has a small level of immunity when they are rehomed at 8 weeks
