Hi all, Haven't been around for a while. Have a quick question about teeth cleaning. Pippin (british bulldog 1.5 years) gets regular teeth chews, has dental care in her water etc and have very nice teeth but long term I'm wondering if there is anywhere that does teeth cleaning in Adelaide without an anaesthetic? Being a bulldog I don't want to put her under unless its absolutely necessary and maybe with her dental routine she'll never need it but wanted to research in case there is something out there. TIA

My breeder's dog only had one puppy so now instead of getting one in January I have to wait til she tries again in February and if I'm lucky will have my baby bulldog sometime in June. The wait is killing me.

I like reading these threads because it re-inforces my decision to wait for my pedigree bulldog. My breeder has a litter due in November and of course there is no guarantee I'll get one and even if I do I will still have waited 6+ months and paid $3000. But then I researched the breed and have fallen in love with them and want to get one which has the best genetic chance of doing well so here's crossing all paws and tails that it all works out. I'm normally a terrible impulse buyer and have no patience at all but the idea of contributing to puppy mills is just too disgusting. My only problem now is I have friends who keep saying 'Why don't you get a rescue dog instead of spending all that money?'. Ok rescue dogs are a great idea but I had to do a lot of convincing my OH to let me get a dog and only by researching a breed that fitted his very specific requirements in a dog and a bulldog is that breed. Having decided the breed i naturally wanted a pedigree to get the healthiest dog I could. I think its important to think about how a dog will fit into your lifestyle and a unpredictable rescue x breed isn't always an option.

Confirmation from the breeder a few weeks ago that her bulldog bitch is pregnant, hasn't done an ultra-sound so don't know with how many. Due in 2 weeks time, very exciting, I still won't know until probably almost the end of the year whether or not I'm one of the lucky ones that gets one. Crossing all paws and tails in the meantime!

Just got an email from the breeder today, crossing fingers and toes they are planning to have bulldog pups available by the end of the year! Jumping with joy and a little bit nervous, thinking about everything i need to have ready by then!

thanks will look at that answer in a minute. I am in discussions with a breeder about getting a bulldog in the next 6 months. no rellies i can leave it with unfortunately. Yes i'm worried about the heat, that's why I thought maybe the Adelaide Pet Resort as its bedrooms not kennels.

Hi all, I've heard that it is important to have a vet that has experience dealing with bulldogs due to their special care needs especially after an operation. Does anyone know of a good bulldog vet in the Adelaide/Adelaide Hills area?

I am in a similar situation (not with the break up sorry to hear about that), but I work 9-5 and have an hours commute each way. I am taking one week off to help settle puppy getting over initial anxiety of being in a new place and then will be gradually leaving puppy alone for longer and longer each day (which I'm sure will be harder on me than the puppy) til i go back to work. I am going to use one of the indoor fake grass trays and keep puppy to just one room during the day and then take outside before work after work and before bed. good luck with your training.

OMG that's awful, what a disgusting thing to say to someone who's stressed about their pet! I'm going to have a look at the Adelaide Hills pet resort, it's a bit more exy but I like the idea of not being in just a concrete room.

I have bulldogs and they get red meat with no issues. I find that if anything causes sensitivity or upsets its preservatives so they are now fed a preservative free diet and no dry at all, only wet food :) thanks Remarkabull that's good to know, i'm hoping to keep mine of anything processed so hopefully will be ok.

I'm getting closer! After having more discussions with my OH we are now looking at getting a puppy in the next 6 months rather than 12 months. Have started entering into serious discussions with a very good breeder who is also willing to give my details to another breeder that uses the same bloodlines. These bulldogs are stunning. Totally agree that the males are big smoochmisters... went to visit them at a show and their champion full white bully who looks so scarey jumped up and kissed me all over the chin. Then another little 5 month old male who was very shy and didn't want to come out of his cage leapt into my arms and buried his head under my chin for a big bear hug. Ooohhh just melts the heart, wanted to walk out with him right then and there!

Can someone give me a list of places that sell VAN in Adelaide/ Adelaide Hills area? I would like to try this type of diet when I get my puppy. I've heard that Bulldogs don't do well on red meat though, does Roo come under this banner or does it react differently? Thanks,

Hi all, Wondering if anyone has used any kennels in the Adelaide Hills regions and has any recommendations for a good place which treats the dogs well and isn't the kind of place where they are stuck in a bare room that just gets hosed down each day. Also what age do you recommend your dog is before you use a kennel?

Good to hear there are some good vets in the area. Does anyone know if they have experience with bulldogs? Apparently this is pretty important as they need slightly different care. I will be chatting to some of them first though to get a feel for the place.

Yeah this is just the thread for me! I'm not even officially on a breeder's waiting list yet but have started talking to one to build up a relationship. I'm after a British bulldog and will probably have to wait at least a year until I'm ready and one is available. Soooo excited though can't stop talking about it. My OH knows that when we go to pick up the puppy we'll have to put newspaper down on the car seats in case I pee all over the place with excitment ! The puppy should be no problem!

Anyone in SA had any experience with Vets around the Adelaide Hills area? There are two in Stirling which will probably be my closest. i'm planning on visiting both to get a feel for them but would welcome anyone who has experiences.
