Is It Safe To Keep A Gsd (big Dog) In With Little Ones?
Lasareina replied to a topic in General Dog Discussion
Growing up we had our dog Ninja who is German Shepherd cross Kelpie and quite large, and a couple on miniature pincers that we inherited from granma. Even though they were introduced as adults there was no issues and they all became great friends. The cat was much more of a threat to the min pins than Ninja! -
lol silly Americans ... gorgeous dogs either way :)

Does anyone know why they called an Australian Shepherd, an Australian Shepherd, when it originated in USA? I've always been a bit puzzled by that...

Do You Have An Entire Male Dog Inside?
Lasareina replied to Stitch's topic in General Dog Discussion
my boy was way easier to toilet train than my girl. He doesn't mark in the house at all, but will mark fence posts etc when walking. This only issue we had of him trying to mark was at city farmers trying on coats Probably because there were so many different doggy scents there I guess? He is nearly ready for desexing as he is 2 in December. I will be interested to see how his fence/tree marking etc changes once he isn't entire, or if it does at all. -
wow i think she is smaller than I am assuming from the computer screen lol... I was imagining the iggies to be just a little bit smaller than a whippet... but sounds like they are a LOT smaller!
-
yay Neko! Arkey's legs look like they are almost a third longer, no wonder she can't catch him  so cute
-
Thanks Persephone ... he sleeps on my bed but yes I think I will cut out the fabric softener anyway just in case

i love th echuck it balls as well... Hunter can demolish a tennis ball during a game of fetch in about 15 minutes. The chuck ball has lasted at least 6 months... and only just started to form cracks because I didn't take it off him while we were outside the park chatting the other day and he happily chewed on it for about half an hour It's still in enough of one piece to throw in the thrower thingy. The bounce is really good.... It finally got my girl interested in chasing something because it looks like it is scampering away across the ground when it lands, the bloodthirsty little wench

I might need to go have a look at the Augustines Approved...

Wow Mandela has a gorgeous coat Erny! That was certainly a worrying break out though, the poor boy! I'm not really sure how I could make his food less likely to cause any issues... unless maybe it is one of the veggies we mince up in it? His diet is pretty much beef mince, chicken wings or chicken frames, minced up fruit or veggies, an egg, animal naturals omega oil and VAN health booster supplement. The veggies/fruit usually include carrot, apple, banana, celery or silverbeet. I have just ordered the some meat from Instincto which supplies meat specifically for raw feeding here in QLD... it is all preservative free so maybe that will help. We are currently feeding human grade though so I thought it would be ok. Hunter only has 1 or 2 little bumps at a time, and other than this (and the sudden paw licking ) seems in otherwise good condition. Coat is nice and shiny (although doesn't look as shiny as Mandela, especially in photos  ), bright eyes, no poop issues, weight seems good etc. I'm trying to find a recent photo where he isn't wet or in a life jacket haha... obviously meed to dig the camera out more often..

yeah I think it must be something in the garden chaninging as everything else is pretty much the same. The only other thing i can think of which is different is a new fabric softener, so maybe it is that

who could leave a face like that behind - especially with that grin :)
-
oh wow ... I think it is hives! it looks way more like that than hot spots. thanks Erny... I will go do a bit of research on hives now.
-
oh I will have to go google hives now - so many thinks it could be with skin issues, and I find my vet hasn't been very helpful in the past except for suggesting steroids if it gets worse. What fun would it be if it was easy i guess  He is on a raw diet based on BARF which doesn't really change at all so I'm hoping it isn't diet. He did used to get a lot of rashes when we had him on kibble, got a bit better on grain free kibble, and then hasn't really had them at all since being on raw. I did notice this morning that he has started licking his foot as well so hopefully this isn't the start of a saga! ok I will kick my butt into gear again with the calendula and give it a proper go.

yeah I wanted a Hurta one as well, but couldn't justify the price ... I was lucky to find the ezydog ones on sale because of the discontinued colours!

Unusual Activities You Do With Your Dogs

wow it's amazing what they can be taught to do in those rescue tests! -
she's gorgeous Clover ... i love the ones peeking through the plants! I'm sucker for blue eyes :)
-
good point Jules I guess it would be a bit ouchy might have to have a proper go with the calendula tea or get some cream/oil maybe. Mum has a huge aloe vera plant so I might give that a shot as well! thanks for the help guys :)
-
yep I was so happy to see that ... all our stuff is in the camo and pink camo stuff so it had to match haha. I got them on special too around 6 months ago maybe? that is whay Hunter's is a little small as it was the largest size they had, and I was just hoping it would fit him. It works, but I would get the next size up next time... mainly for around the neck.
-
I tried to pixelate the second photos just for giggles but it ended up looking a bit suss, so full frontal it is... sorry bout that :p
-
ok I hope these are helpful ... it was harder to get a decent angle than I thought lol. Mostly because all he wanted to do was give me kisses... makes the angle a bit difficult :p it turns out that it does fit quite far back depending on his position, but it seems to sit underneath and just a bit in fromt of his penis so it doesn't seem to bother him. He has quite a defined tuck as well so the strap seems to slide back a bit off the rib cage. A couple more photos below hopefully if it will work :)
-
i have some calendula tea at home which I will also try ... Hunter isn't very fond of me pouring it on him, I think I probably need a calendula cream. I feel like its not concentrated enough when brewed and applied as a liquid although that's probably just in my head. I guess the same thing could be said for the salt spray come to that!
-
aww poor boy he doesn't look happy at all! I might chuck Hunter's one on him when I get home tonight and take a better photo so you can have a look. He will probably go nuts thinking we are going to the creek, but he will get over it ! I think the strap might be a little bit further up from the end of the jacket.
