  1. I have a bullmastiff bitch here than Im trying to tee up a mating for Friday and Sunday. IVe just had 2 fresh AI's done on her sister (sat with frozen puppies and mon at craigieburn). But it is proving to be extremely difficult to get some one to do one on a Sunday. I live 3 hours east of melbourne and the stud dog is 2 hours north of melb. Stud owner is unable to house my bitch at her house and is a nervous driver so unwilling to travel into Melbourne. I would be happy to try a natural, however the dog is so much heavier than my girl, which is why we opted for an AI in the first place. Is there an experienced breeder of large breeds in the area that would be able to help us out either with an AI or a natural mating. Happy to pay of course.
  2. Does anyone now if they will be at the show at KCC PArk tomorrow? I have sent an email but have not yet had a response. SO thought I'd ask if anyone here knew, Ta ETA: Nevermind, Ive heard back.
  3. Resamith, My vet did the report while I was there which of course was all clear and then I sent it to the Insurance company. I just havent heard from the insurance company to say they have recieved it. They send you a form for the vet to fill out (doesnt matter what breed you have) if you want immediate coverage for cruciate damage otherwise you can wait 6 months and then you become covered. I know of too many BMs that have done their cruciate and I thought If I wait the 6 months out, I bet one of mine will do it and I'll be kicking myself, lol.
  4. Im with PIA too. Mainly because I did my research here on DOL and found them to be the best. Im just wondering though for those who are with them too, did you get the vet to fill out the cruciate report and send it in(within 14 days) to be covered for cruciate damage from the get go (rather than wait 6 months to be covered). I did as bullmastiffs are prone to doing cruciates but I havent heard anything back. I'll give them a ring tomorrow to find out if its covered but just thought I would ask anyone else whos done it. Shame they dont have a a deal like Petplan though for new puppy buyers, get 6 weeks free insurance.
  5. My last litter were raised on raw and I sent home a heap of raw stuff for the first few days. now for my next litter I will wean on premium dry plus raw. It gives puppy buyers another option rather than feeling overwhelmed and not understanding raw feeding, giving up and then going out to the super market to by crap dry/can food. Lets face it not all are going to stick to the raw diet, so I can atleast encourage a premium dry plus wings/carcasses etc. Whilst its not my ideal, Its a little less confusing for them and the pup will still have a better diet than supermarket fed ones. I'll send home a BARF book and heaps of info on raw feeding vs dry and encourage complete raw diet but thats all I can do.
  6. Thanks eveyone! When I got up at 4 am that morning to make the trip, I certainly didnt expect it would be so worth the lack of sleep. Infact I very nearly rolled over and went back to sleep, I was so tired. Its good to get on here and have a brag because when I told my family and friends, the response was so underwhelming, since they have no idea what Im on about. SO thanks for kind words. And AfricanDreams, its all thanks to you for training him so well for the ring, he is a dream to handle
  7. I have no neighbours and have the only house up a dead end lane( so no traffic) and have lived here for just over 5 years. 3 of my dogs free range(old bullmastiff and 2 little dogs), always have. They just arent going to wander off, they never have. The only time they venture out is when I am with them. The other 3, 2 young bullmastiffs will wander(so are penned or indoors when not supervised) and the dobe(not sure he will wander as he is only new here, but Im not risking it) so he is penned when Im not home or overnight, however he can be out while I am home as he doesnt go anywhere. I would not however ever trust any of my dogs in a suburban area with no fences, or if I lived on a road with traffic passing.
  8. Yesterday at the Metropolitan CAnine Association Show at the pet expo, my new dobe boy Darcy went BOB and Runner up Best in Group, and under a breed specialist too! It was only our 4th show together and its the biggest win I have had in my short time showing, so naturally Im stoked Just thought I would share, cos Im on a high
  9. A couple of my mud monsters last year, when we actually had rain. Bitty looks gorgeous and seems very proud of her efforts
  10. LOL, He informed me too. I wrote back and explained why he had a rush of orders, lol.
  11. Thanks everyone! He is a handsome boy thats for sure. I look forward to campaigning him. :D
  12. This is Darcy. I have had him a couple of months now but havent got around to taking any nice shots of him until today. We have only had a couple of shows together, last show we had he was RCC under a international dobe specialist. I think he will only get better with age and do quite well in the future, his movement is to die for. Darcy is only here until he finishes his title, which is such a shame as I have fallen in love with him and would love to keep him ( I never thought I'd say that about a brown, lol). However Im keeping a male from my next bullmastiff litter and dont want the hassles of two entire boys. Still thinking ways around it but its not likely, unfortunately.
  13. Ive just bought a compact for $150(well picked it up from layby) so Im on the look out for cheap walls too.
  14. I regularly travel 3 hours each way to show. We have "local" shows a coulpe of times a year but other than that I have to travel to Melbourne to show. We are probably shifting to Hervey Bay QLD in the next 12 months and Im so disappointed as it means 4.5 hours travel one way to durack to show. There are a few smaller country shows in the area I think but they're only small from what I can tell. And I have travelled to Sydeny and Adelaide for specialty shows.

Im so sorry Serena. An absolute tragedy. Taken well before his time. What a beautiful tribute, that had me in tears. Im thinking of you. RIP big guy....you made a lot of people smile. You wont be forgotten.
  16. Im hoping to give one my bullmastiffs a go in tracking this year (and also obedience). I have litter sisters but one is more willing to please than the other so I will start off with her. Its really not the done thing with bullmastiffs, but Im keen to give it a crack.
  17. I have only ever had moggies but will be venturing into the pedigreed cat world in the near future. Will only ever have pedigreed dogs now.
  18. That is the exact reason I will never let my dogs off lead. They are dogs and and all it takes is a rabbit, cat, whatever to dart out and its on(not to metion I worry about dog fights and not being "there" to jump on it straight away). I have friends who let their dogs off lead and my heart is in my mouth everytime, especially near roads or other dogs. In fact I know someone whose obedience trained with multiple titles dog took off at kcc park after a rabbit, headed straight for the highway and she was not coming back. In the end a fence stopped her, thank God. I ma so glad Fletcher is ok :D
  19. The fact that both the website owner and poster have a female amstaff named atua and they are both named malinda and both live in brisbane, seems too much of a coincidence to me. Im not into any witch hunt, was just pointing something out after noticing it in my search. My main concern is the breeder who may beselling her a puppy and if I knew who that was I'd probably drop them an email rather than post here.
  20. In 2010 I have already titled one of my bullmastiff girls(Ifinished her sister off 4 weeks earlier!) but in addition I would like to; Title Darcy the dobermann I have here on loan. Start obedience and tracking with Kalais, the more biddable of my bullmastiffs. And the most important have a litter each from my 2 bullmastiff girls later in the year, I am so excited and cannot wait, its all I think about lately, lol. And start showing whatever I keep from the litters.
  21. Sparky Tansy, I could say all those things too and not actually do them. If it were me I'd want to back up my claim and show that I do these things. My website has pedigrees and pedigree names, for starters, health test results, show results and plenty of photos, show ones included. I dont know maybe she isnt website savvy. Oh and plenty of people breed amstaffs with no papers My point of the post was that she has claimed not only in this post but others that she's not a breeder, doesnt know about breeding and not once mentioned she was breeding her amstaff and then she makes this post right about the time she would have mated or be about to mate her bitch. And admits she's just a pet. I'd say it wasnt an accident as she has another litter planned for her very next season. Either way I just thought that maybe whoever she is buying her Gordon setter puppy from might like to do a bit more research and just may possibly read this thread.
