The dobermann boy I have had here temporarily has a new home to go in SA. We are attending the shows at Albury next weekend so if anyone will be travelling from there to SA that could fit him in would be great, otherwise he will stay with his breeder near Melbourne. So if anyone from the Melbourne area is heading SA way in the near future and would have room for him, please let me know Cheers, KM

If Early Early Signs Of Pregnancy Indicate Large Litters.
Kaffy Magee replied to Kaffy Magee's topic in Breeders Community
Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply. We proved the vet wrong today, which I knew we would. She is expecting. The vet didnt even bother trying to count, he says theres lots! So I guess now we just have to wait and see. -

Does Your Oh Allow Your Dog/s To Sleep On The Bed?
Kaffy Magee replied to Abigail's topic in General Dog Discussion
Only our little jrt Sniffy sleeps in our bed. She starts out in my daughters bed until we go to bed and then hops in with us. Pepe my papillon used to sleep in our bed but he has itchy sksin and so is always scratching and licking and drives OH crazy, so now he sleeps out on the dog bed in the kitchen with our old Bullmastiff girl, Keisha. The other 3 big dogs sleep out in their runs/kennels. I always thought it would be nice to have a bullmastiff share your bed, but not now. After going away on numerous occasions to dogs hows etc Ive had them on my bed and I never get any sleep. They are not content to sleep at the end of the bed or on one side they want to sleep right up against/on you so you can not move with their heads on the pillow. Seriously I fight for my pillow all night. I even turned upside down once and slept up the other end, but she followed me. Never again. -
I have two litters due in May. From one week on I was able to tell one of my bitches was pregnant, other than the usual signs, she just looked pregnant. The other was 2 weeks along and while I thought she was pregnant I wasnt as confident with that suspicion. I was talking to another breeder who tells me she had a bitch that she could tell from one week on and she ended up having 14 pups. Please tell me there is no connection there, lol. Im just curious to know that those of you that have been able to tell, did they end up having huge litters. Do you think those with heaps show earlier. Im booked in for an ultrasound with her tomorrow, I look forward to proving the vet wrong. I told him I knew she was pregnant and that was when she was 3 weeks, he says I shouldnt be able to tell, so she must be tricking. This girl is not tricking, I gaurantee that, lol.

Our little JRT Sniffy is a licker. Drives us mad, she will come flying up and jump on our lap and start licking the air like crazy usually in the direction of our mouth. Its so annoying and when we growl at her to stop I think it makes it worse. I see her behaviour as a submissive thing, as she often averts her eyes whilst doing it and then will often lie on her back when we growl at her to stop.

I jus twanted to say that your dogs "wanting to get out of there and you never having seen them move so fast" is not uncommon. They all know they are going home when you go and grab their things and lead etc and in my experience they have "all" ran/pulled like mad to get to the front and then the car. As for being noisy it usually is when people show up/new dogs come in and also at feed times. Most of the time they are pretty good and settle down when nothing is going on. I just wanted to say that these things should not be held against the boarding kennel. And on the note of showing up early...... I and my bosses used to hate it when people showed up out of hours. The thing is you dont go to your local shop and ask them to come and open just for you because you need something. No, you wait until their opening hours. However I wouldnt have minded if you came and just waited out the front in your car and often for poeple who live a fair way from the kennels and have rung to see if its ok, we have let them pick up out of hours, but was at our discretion.

Well we have confirmation of pregnancy with Kalais Vet wasnt going to give me a number as as we all know its not definite. I told him I understood that but just wanted a rough figure. He said he could definitely see 5 but thought he could see 7 and wasnt prepared to go any higher. SO yay, we have babies!!!!! Kijana is booked in for next Wednesday(not this one coming). I told him Im pretty sure she is definitely pregnant as she is more obvious than Kalais, even though she is only 3 weeks. He said "well we all know you shouldnt be able to tell this early, so she's probably tricking" We'll see, I look forward to proving him wrong, lol. I know my bitch, and they all do have phantoms every season but this is different. Maybe its more obvious becasue she is a finer bitch than her sister, I dont know. Will keep you all updated.

Puppy was a dobe, Kelza.

Love the photos Ravensmyst Congrats Derharv! Fingers crossed for you Jencol. We have our last show on Sunday before the girls start to get too big. Kalais is booked in for an ultrasound on Monday so hoping we get some good news. I wasnt going to have one but it got the better of me. I hate suspense. LOL.

Holy shit!! Bet you wont be using that vet again. I bet you were freaking out when they said that. So glad you got that second opinion.

Baileys mum, does your vet sell Advance? My guess is they do and are trying to "sell" it to you. She probably thinks Eagle Pack cant be any good since she has never heard of it. Ive recently gone from a complete BARF diet to supplementing with Eagle Pack Holisitc (now named holistic select). I don't like advance or science diet as they both had cereals/grains listed as their first ingredients. Will your bitch eat chicken wings/necks? Try supplementing her diet with those if your worried about calcium. For the record I'm confidant both my girls are pregnant. Ive had %100 accuracy so far with "predictions" (not just my own dogs),lets see if I can keep up my record, lol. I have thought both are pregnant since last weekend, so Kijana was only a week along, Yet she is more obvious than Kalais. Both have had phantoms before(so did their mother) but this is different. What happened in March Ravensmyst?

Congratulations Baileys Mum!!!! Im still in suspense here. Hope everything runs smoothly for you :0)

What Does All This Mean?
Kaffy Magee replied to Kaffy Magee's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thanks for the replies. It must be the re establishing of rank, thats all I can put it down to. Ive just never experienced it with any of my other dogs. -
I have 2 bullmastiff sisters that adore each other. One is dominant by nature,Kijana, the other submissive by nature,Kalais, so I think thats why they have gotten along so well (so far). Anyhow whenever I have to take one somewhere, Kijana always gets a bit narky when she gets back to Kalais. For example, I took Kijana away to be mated, last week, when she got home she had a snap at her mother as she got out of the car. I was then cautious about reintroducing her to her sister but had to happen. She had her hackles up, kept getting in her face, and herding her around, almost like she was looking for a fight. I let them both in on their mat/bed that they share and all was fine and has been since. Today I took Kalais to the vet, when we got back, I let Kijana out of her run so they could both come inside. She was all over her again, doing the same thing as I mentioned. Let them in on their bed, all is fine. Why does Kijana do this? What is she saying here? Is she just trying to remind Kalais she is still the boss and that just because she went away, the ranks havent changed. I dont know. Any ideas?

Been to the vet. He's not too concerned either as everything else all looks good, possible just a minor vaginal infection so has ABs to go on with.
-
Taking Kalais into the vet today. She would be 2 weeks along and is having some small amount discharge. Doesnt smell. Last night it was yellowish, today its whitish/creamy. Ive taken her temp, which was fine(38.1) , however she maybe isnt as lively today as normal. Her mother had exactly the same thing at 2 weeks along and went on to ABs incase of infection, no issues and she had 8 pups. Im not too concerned at this stage, but better to err on the side of caution.

I worked in a boarding kennel. At times it is extremely busy(especially when tour on your own) you simply dont have time to be showing people around, so a time is made that will be a little quieter.
