Hi Andisa, I can tell Kalais' from Kijanas They werent allowed to mix until I knew who was who ;0)

Well, in answer to the people who think he should stay anyway, we'll see Admittedly he isnt my first pick, however OH was talking about keeping him( even if I keep my pick) if we had the space. Um hello? We are on 40 acres, lol. I didnt want 2 boys but I guess its doable, I just prefer to be able to run all my dogs together when we go out to exercise, or have them come indoors. It looks I will also be keeping a girl. That wasnt the plan, but what do you do when you have so many nice babies to choose from? If we dont keep him, I may have a home lined up where we can show him for his new owners. 2 puppies is ok, 3 I feel is too much, especially when the plan was to only keep one, lol. Anyways, I will post a photo of little pandy bo bandy in a sec.

Thanks Mercedes All the babies just grab a teat, doesnt matter who's it is,lol. The mums are litter sisters and have a close bond, they were understandably a bit protective to start off and they were kept very much separated but now at 4 weeks, they couldnt care less.

Took this pic tonight, just thought I would share

Hi ****, My name is ****** and I live in East Gippsland too!!. Like you i live on a farm with plenty of room for animals to frolic. I have been to your website and want to let you know I want Kalais Navy Blue Boy (the big panda one) and dont sell him to anyone else. I think he would make a great addition to our already 3 strong (2 Australian champions) bullmastiff dominated family. My wife loves bullmastiffs and feeds them really good (probably expensive) food. She also makes sure that they spend alot of time inside, especially in the winter time. I would like him on show register as I would like to try and show him, however breeding would be out of the question as I feel its too much hard work. Please dont sell Navy Blue Boy coz he is very cute n squishy and like a little pandy-bo-bandy I think he will win over the judges with his pandary fluffy looks. Regards, ****** I just had to post this. That enquiry is from my OH. My OH who really hasnt had much to do with the dogs or showing ever. Hasnt really paid too much interest in my last litters but he has been so much more involved with the two litters I have now and has fallen in love with Kalais navy boy, whom is nicknamed Bear. Bear is fuzzier than the others (like his mother was) and a huge boof, so the name kind of stuck. Bear is one of my pick males at this stage, however I have 2 other favourites. My OH mentioned the other day about maybe trying showing, as we had been discussing how we dont do anything together I just thought it was sweet and not something I expected and just had to share

My Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Keeps Eating Sticks
Kaffy Magee replied to Jason Cyr's topic in General Dog Discussion
Can I just ask why this is an issue with the sticks(rocks I understand)? Hes a dog, a retriever at that, you're going to have a hard time stopping him from doing something that is built into him. Id be pleased it was sticks and not anything else. Not having a go, I just dont understand why the sticks are an issue. -
Ooooohhh too cute KW! I love Scribble, how adorable :D
-
I allow my bitches to eat them. However, last litter, they all came back up in the car on the way to the vet, along with the goats milk and egg yolk she'd been drinking, lol. I'd put bedding down to protect the back but of course she had rearranged it all. My car still stinks. I dont think she would have thrown up though if she hadnt gone in the car.

What gorgeous babies Ash. I love the first girl too :D kalais babies are 2 weeks old and have their eyes open now and doing a good job of walking around.Kijanas are 10 days and won't be far behind. Both still have the runs but most of kalais have started to firm up since yesterday. Vet thinks they may have been getting heaps of milk which was causing it as they weren't sick or losing weight. However I wormed them yesterday, only a few had small amount of worms from what I could see and now they are firming up so maybe it was worms that gave them the runs.???? Kalais feeds one of kijanas so they both have 10 on them makes it easier. Oh and I'm not bottle feeding any now both ms milk came in thank god as I was doing both litters for a few days there. Certainly takes a load off. Hopefully get around to posting some pics this weekend
-
I have started them on the protexin. With Kijanas litter i made it into a paste and put it on my finger but that was a whole lot of messy so I did what you do and watered it right down so I could syringe it in for Kalais' litter and that was much better. Kalais' litter doesnt seem as bad, not as much groaning and less pooing but still runny when they do. She is the one that has stopped the ABs so hopefully they will come good soon. Kijana has 3 days of ABs to go and her babies are just crying and groaning and pooing everywhere and rolling in it. So much fun, lol. Doesnt help when Kijana isnt really that keen on cleaning them up. She has a go every now and then but it doesnt last. Typical of her though, she's a little snobby princess, much too good for that kind of thing

Thanks aziah. Puppies are all groaning now. They weren't before I assume it's just because they have an upset tummy? Is it more serious if they are groaning?
-
Well Ive been into my vets, they only had protexin powder in little 2gm sachets, so they have given me the lot as that was all they had, said they would get more in by tomorrow. Thanks Aspyre, I wasnt sure how I was going to put the powder in their mouths, lol. I'll give it a go now Thanks everyone for your advice.
-
I had been giving natural yoghurt but probably not often enough. Aziah, What is protexin and where do I get it from? As I said one girl is now off the ABs so hopefully it will all clear up in no time, the other still has three days to go on them. Ive just given a good dose of yoghurt in the girls breakfasts and I'll head in to town soon for some protexin. Thanks ETA: Have just googled Protexin, havent seen at my vet before so not sure if they would have it. I'll ask anyway.

Both my litters of puppies have the trots. They are 9 days and 5 days old. Both mums are on anti biotics, although one just finished her course today. However the poos didn't start until they had been on abs for a number of days. So I'm wondering if it's the abs or not since it wasn't instant. All pups are lively, gaining weight ( our biggest is over a kilo already) and feeding well so I have no other concerns. I have to go into the vets tomorrow so I will speak to them about it aswell, I guess I just wanted to know if the abs could be causing the runs. Thanks

Things That You Used To Do That You Now Don't
Kaffy Magee replied to corvus's topic in General Dog Discussion
Walking my dog off lead and tying up out the front of shops. Nothing in particular happened to change my mind, over the years I have realised there is too much potential for things to go wrong. My heart is in my mouth now when I see off lead dogs near roads or other dog, or people/ kids approaching tied up dogs. -
Thanks for the well wishes NO wonder Kijana was huge most of her babies were over 600gms!! The vet actually had to make the hole in her tummy bigger becasue he couldnt get them out, lol. Kalais biggest was 555gms and her smallest 425gms, so some of Kijanas were 200gms heavier than some of Kalais'. Shes not really into her babies yet, wont sniff or clean them but she lets them feed, Im in the box with her though as she growled at them a couple of times last night. She'll come around, she just isnt really sure whats going on yet. Has plenty of milk, which is great and even better is that it seems Kalais' milk has finally come in!!! Congrats Gapvic on your beautiful grey babies!

I just wanted to add that whilst the bullmastiff standard calls for a black mask puppies with little to no masking do occur . I sold one( to apet home obviously) with no mask. I'm sure they probably get people telling them he is not pure because he doesn't have a mask, but I assure you he is. As for the tosser advertising he makes me sick. I can not bear to look at such sites as it makes feel ill reading all the adds, not just for my beautiful breed but for all the poor byb puppies. The amount of puppies sold on just these other sites alone is sickening and some of the things they write to advertise them makes me so wild. So I've stepped away from reading them, I can not stop it from happening, I'll just try and educate when I can.

Well kijana went into labour today and we now have 11 new babies, 7 boys 4 girls born via c section. Well I wanted boys now I have 13 to choose from!
-
Oh poor Kayo That looks horrible. I hope she is feeling better and it heals quickly. Poor girl.
-
Finally some piccies :D ETA: Are they working for anyone. Its p[laying up on me.
-
Hi BB, I'll keep an eye on her tonight and might contact the vet again in the morning if no improvement.
-
No she is not near my other girl, although she will be shifting in the room very shortly (opposite ends of the room and wont have access to each other). She has been in the whelping box all day with her babies, until I had to go into town quickly just before for some supplies and dinner. I placed her in a crate beside the whelp box, so she can see her babies and I was hoping with her not being under/near the heat lamp she would stop the panting but it hasnt happened. I know 39.2 is on the higher end so I'll take her temp again this evening.
-
I have started supplementing with a bottle. Puppies were unsettled and trying to feed all day today, only small amounts of milk seem to be coming out. She doesnt look to have too much, even the vet said that last night. I put them on the bottle and they all guts into it and are now sleeping soundly instead of squeaking and squealing like they have been. Kalais is panting heavily, has been most of the day, is this normal? I did ring the vet he wasnt too concerned as she is still drinking and eating and everything else looks ok. I took her temp just before and it is 39.2. I am worried the panting heavily is not normal. Any ideas?
-
Thanks everyone. I will take some pics later today. But here is a quick run down of last nights events. There was no signs of impending labour yesterday(no temp drop, now going off food, no restlessness or heavy panting), so I went to work. About 11.20 pm my line manager tells me my OH is on the phone. I knew what it would be, so I raced to the phone, OH is frantic, as he has been trying to get hold of me since 9pm(i work in a factory which is really loud and the after hours phone is on the factory floor, so really hard to hear if it rings, plus we wear ear muffs). First puppy had been born. OH had no idea what to do and I hadnt given him a run down incase she went into labour because I was expecting to be home when it all happened. I just flew home, I didnt even change out of my factory whites and boots, which is a no no but I didnt care. Im sure everyone I raced past on their smoko was left wondering wtf? lol. All was good though, first 5 were boys , 6th was a girl and not well at all. I thought she was dead, but after working on her saw some signs of life, kept going, she was very floppy and short gasps of breath, couldnt suck, but I kept on her for quite some time and she came good. She seemed to be struggling to push the 7th out so I arranged to meet the vet at the clinic. Of course she had it in the back of the wagon as we pulled up.A little girl. She also vomited everywhere, imagine lots and lots of eggy milk(she had been drinking), placentas and membranes all through your car, so nice, lol. Puppy wasnt too healthy so into the vets and onto some oxygen, with lots of rubbing and she came good. Kalais had a shot of oxytocin and a shot of calcium and delivered the 8th puppy another boy and then eventually after a little while had another girl. Got home about 7 am. And I am exhausted. I feel sick and was thinking I might have a tummy bug that has been going around work, but it could just be lack of sleep. Then I get to do it all again next weekend. Lucky me,lol!
