Just wanted to have a little brag about my new bullmastiff babies. So far I have picked up 3 baby in groups, 2 Best Baby In Specialty Shows and 1 Best Opposite Baby in Specialty show, plus 2nd and 3rd placings at Specialty level in decent size classes. First up is Kobe, he had his first show on 14th of august and has always placed 1st or 2nd in his class, taking turns with his brother Chase. He has picked up 2 baby in groups and Best baby in Show at the NSW Bullmastiff Specialty under Breed specialist Helene Neitsche from the USA. A total of 12 babies were present at the show, so I was wrapt. He then went on to pick up a second placing at the Victorian Bullmastiff Specialty under breed specialist Glen Sparham, being beaten by his brother once again. Chase had his first show the last weekend in August and has had many baby of breeds. He has picked up 1 baby in group and placed 3rd at the NSW Bullmastiff Specialty. He then went on to win Best Baby In Show at the Victorian Bullmastiff Specialty, with a total of 10 babies present at the show. Nikita is usually beaten by her brothers for baby of breed but we are still very happy with her results. At the NSW Bullmastiff Specialty she placed third out of 8 girls and then went on to win Best Opposite Sex Baby in Show at the Victorian Bullmastiff Specialty, obviously being beaten by her brother Chase. I also have a girl, China, in co ownership with DOLer Amika and not only is China new to showing but so is Amika. I was totally thrilled she placed second behind Nikita at the Victorian Bullmastiff Specialty, a total of 6 baby girls were shown. My older girl Kalais also placed 2nd out of 9 Aus bred bitches at the Victorian Specialty, the girl that beat her went on to BIS! Photo is of Kobe taken yesterday.

Runner up in group 6 was a bullmastiff, not mastiff. He is my new babies' daddy! Go Stormy!

Another Breed Suggestion Thread...
Kaffy Magee replied to mackiemad's topic in General Dog Discussion
I most definitely would not be looking at a dobe. I have had 3 here(at separate times, God I can only handle one at a time, lol). Im on 40 acres and all like to run run run, and when they are bored, they bark bark bark and they wreck stuff like you wouldnt believe and they all hated cats. All needed to "work" their minds and bodies. They not only need physical exercise but really need mental exercise aswell, lots of training to keep the mind busy. Mine were all young dogs though, so really full of energy and nothing seemed to tire them. They are not a dog I would recommend for a new dog owner, always pushing the boundaries, very head strong and you need to have very firm leadership qualities. They are however very smart, loyal and protective. They are suitable for some people, but despite my love for them they are not a breed I go around promoting to every tom dick and harry, and certainly not for a first time dog owner. -

Lenses, What Should I Start Out With?
Kaffy Magee replied to Kaffy Magee's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Thanks guys. I bought the 50mm 1.8 and the 18-55 and 55-250. Just basic lenses to start with. Just waiting on them to arrive. CAnt wait. Cheers, KM -
I just bought a second hand canon 40d camera (body only). I started a thread about it but thought I would start another in here for some help with lenses. I have no idea what to start out with. I had planned to buy a camera with twin lense kit but now Im lost. Should I still go with the 18-55 http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/...?idProduct=1902 and 55-250 http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/...?idProduct=1903 that they usually have in the kits or would only one be enough. Ill get a nifty 50 aswell, as every one seems to like them. Or should I get something like this http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/...?idProduct=3011 I dont really know what all the lenses do and dont want to spend a fortune on lenses yet. My main pics will be of my dogs still and action, and also at dog shows(stacked and gaiting), mainly outside but I would also like to be able to take some inside(kcc park). Thats pretty much it for now, photos of kids will be a possibilty but its mainly for my dogs. I'd like to be able to zoom in on the dogs in the ring too. Im desperate to buy some lenses now, as I'll be picking up my camera tomorrow.

Second Hand Price For Canon 40d
Kaffy Magee replied to Kaffy Magee's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
I won! I won! Just did some last minute bidding and I won! I paid 670 which is only 20 more than I was going to bid,so I'm happy. Now I just need to decide on what sort of lenses. Should I just stick with the ones that are usually sold in the twin lens kits 18-55 and 55-200 I think. Would I need both of them or will just on do, or should I get something completely different. I have no idea so any help is much appreciated. -

Is There Anything I Could/should Do?
Kaffy Magee replied to Kaffy Magee's topic in Breeders Community
Just a little update. The couple have declined my offer of the little girl pup I have here. They really wanted another male and seem to have found one, which is great, they asked for my opinion which I thought was nice and I told them they had made a good choice of breeder. Some consolation is that I gave out 6 weeks pet plan insurance with my pups and they will recieve the cost of the puppy back. It also says they can claim vet costs but Im not sure if they can only claim one or the other or both. Either way it is better than nothing. -
Ive been looking on ebay at some 40d's (body only) but I was just wondering what is a good price for a second hand one. I have no idea. Can anyone help?
-
Thank you to all who replied. I think I will get all 3 lenses, but now I need help with something else Ok another question. I havent totally settled on this camera. I would like to but not sure if I can bring myself to spend that sort of money. I would purchase overseas except Im a bit wary with the whole warranty issues. I would be more than happy to buy a second hand one, although they are hard to come by. So Ive been looking at other models but I just dont know exactly what im looking at. Ive heard the 40d mentioned a few times and that its a great camera, but heard the same about the 450d etc. Ive tried comparing them but then I just get all confused and not sure what I should choose. Can someone recommend something for me, or should I stick with the 550d. I want to take mainly photos of my dogs, action shots and still shots. I want sharpness in the picture quality, and be able to take photos quickly and be able to do that thing where it takes heaps of photos in quick succession, lol, technical arent I?. I would also like to be able to take nice shots in low light. I dont care much for HD video, and I dont plan on blowing photos up to huge sizes. The biggest I might blow one up would be a 10x8 probably. I would like to be able to crop without losing quality of the image though. Im not sure what would be most suitable, I dont want a camera that Im not goin to use all its features if there is something cheaper that will do exactly what I want, without all the extras. I dont plan on getting too creative, I just dont have it in me. All opinions welcome although would really appreciate some proffessionals opinions, Im doing my head in, trying to decide.

Is There Anything I Could/should Do?

Thank you all for your replies. The puppy is 4 month old bullmastiff. He and all his litter mates have been raised on a mostly raw diet starting out with wings, necks and now they are bigger they are on to frames. I prefer frames simply because they do have to chew them up to digest rather than swallowing a wing or neck whole. I know there are risks associated with feeding bones, but there are risks with most things, like mentioned earlier, increased chance of bloat with kibble or choking on a piece of toy and I believe the benefits of feeding bones far outweigh the risks, I can hardly tell them that though Ive been crying all morning and think Im all cried out for now, but I appreciate all your replies and thoughts. Its such a sad and tragic thing. . -
I had a call on Saturday while I was in Sydney from one of my puppy people. They told me their puppy was lethargic and not eating. They had taken him to the vet on Friday and the vet said he was fine but put him on a course of antibiotics. He had had a carcass and vomited it up and the vet said it may have scratched the oesaphagus so hence the ABs. She also told him she wouldnt be feeding bones, blah blah blah. So he rang me Saturday, I asked him a heap of questions, he was still drinking and other than having no energy and not eating, he was fine (no whimpering etc) I told them since I cant see him its hard for me to make any sort of judgement, if the vet thinks he is ok the only thing you can really do is keep an eye on him and see if he picks up unless they really think something is not right then take him back to the vet or different one. I recieved a call this morning to say they took him to a vet yesterday morning. He had a wishbone caught in his oesophagus that had piercecd it in three places and they think, as it was so low, when they tried to remove it, it pierced his heart and he had a heart attack on the table. I am devastated. I feel so so bad for them. Ive been crying all morning. I know it was just an unfortunate occurence, but I feel bad because I recommend a raw diet. Ive told them I and many others have fed raw for years, with no issues, and I will still continue to do so, but I really really feel so sorry for them. I have a 4month old half sister here to their boy, which I have told them if they think they might be interested in her, not neccessarily now, but in the next few weeks they are welcome to her. I will hold on to her for them until they are ready. I didnt want to feel like I was being insensitive by offering her so soon to them (i did it as tactfully as I could). I have someone else interested in her but I wanted to give them the option before I committed to this other person. I just feel really helpless, I wish I could do more. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Ive gone through so many boxes trying to find exactly the right one. I think I have found it. Its a make up case from Priceline. It was about $70, but fits everything I need in there, and everything has its own place. The only thin it doest fit is tall bottles of stuff. But thats ok becasue I dont need anything like that for my breed.

Thanks Daneranger. I didnt want to cover the front window though. I have bullmastiffs and in summer I want as much air flow as I can get, especially when stationary. Hopefully they can fit something to the roof without too much hassle

Thank you for all the suggestions. I'll go and speak to my local trailer experts first and see what they can do for me. Shelties and Danes that what I was worried about, with it being a smaller trailer, I'll have it looked at first. Thanks
-
I just bought another one. $40 too cheap!
-
I havent heard of them, but will do a little research in my town first. Then I might ask my friend who did hers. I would rather not have to travel away to have it done, but if I have to I will. I'll look inot it abiot more tomorrow, have to head to work now. Thanks for your help!

Thanks Kirislin. Most of my photos will be of dogs, still and action and also the kids, but mainly dogs. The lenses in the kit are EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 IS, EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS. Cheers, KM

Thanks Poodlefan. I have a friend who had one fitted to her 6 berth with wardrobe but I wasnt sure with mine only being a 4 berth whether it would be too small for adding something on top. I wont be lifting trolleys up, mainly soft crates and possibly gazebo, depending on size. My friend just stands her heavy gazebo on end and lift on an angle and it slides in easy enough. Her trailer is taller than mine too, so I should have too much trouble, I wouldnt think. Now does anyone know who could do this for me? I live in Vic. Do I need a specific dog trailer manufacturer to do it or can I go to any sort of trailer place?

I have a 4 berth trickey trailer (no wardrobe) and have been looking for a second hand 4 berth trailer with wardrobe. Anyway, I have decided to have something made up for my current trailer to store my crates in and was looking for suggestions. I dont like to cover up the front and rear windows, which leaves the roof. Im wondering has anyone had a storage compartment added to their trailer roof, specifically a medium/large 4 berth? My trailer has 2 whirly gigs so it would have to sit up above those, to still allow airflow. Does anyone know if there would be anything wrong with this? I want it all enclosed, so not the wire racks Ive seen on some. My trailer does have a crate rack(and tac box) on front but I dont like my crates going on there, so thinking of replacing it all with a larger tack box. I'll also be converting it to a 3 berth as one of my pups Ive kept will be too big for the current bays, when he is an adult. Any photos appreciated too, Cheers, KM

Ive been researching this camera and think I have settled on it although I am complete amateur and dont really know all the ins and outs of it or photography. What I want to know is do I go for the twin lense kit or just get the body and the 50 1.8 that everyone has raved about. I have no idea what is best way to start, so all advise is appreciated.

Iv just bought 2 of the huge size ones. I really wanted one blue and a red for my two new boys but since they only have blue, thats what I got, too cheap to pass up. Thanks for posting the link, Ive been thinking of getting soft crates for ages for the boys. So I bought 2 for the price I would have paid for one, Im very happy!
