  1. My neighbour had to pay $4500 on her dog, she organised GE interest free with nothing to pay for 6 months through her vet and paid it off 8 weeks later when her payment came through from insurance. For this reason we have always kept our GE and Certegy accounts active.
  2. My older dogs grew up with my two daughters now 18 and 21, my girl is 8yrs and has always been cuddly but always slept on her bed in the living room, our boy 9yrs always came and slept next to me. When we had our son 3 yrs ago my girl used to sneak into his room and sleep next to his cot. Now she sneaks into his room and climbs onto his bed of a night. When we walk her we have to use a halti due to pulling, however if my son walks her she is just on a collar and lead and doesn't pull, she isn't even interested in other dogs, cats or birds whilst walking with him. I fully believe she has a higher order of thinking and has claimed him as her heart person.
  3. I bought one the other day from Sams Warehouse for $30. Not heavy at all and holds my 40kg boxer no worries. I have a shoulder and wrist injury so it has to be light, I can't lift more than 5kg and this is so light
  4. When someone tells me they want to breed to make some money, I always tell them about the $2500 I had to come up with on the spot to pay for an emergency caesarian.
  5. My eldest daughter has been attacked twice by dogs. The first time she was 2 and we were all sitting at a table at my sisters house and her dog just jumped the table and bit her on the face. The second time she was 10 and we had just moved in to our house. No fences were up and as she walked past a neighbours house their dog came running out and attacked her, then ran a bit further and bit a painter. To this day she (21yrs old now) is not scared of dogs, we have 3 of them, however she is cautious when meeting a dog for the first time and watches ear and tail placement. Being attacked 2 times unprovoked is bad luck but 7 times, I can't believe that.
  6. Bailey cries for about 5 min then thats it till about 5am when hubby leaves for work. We go the toilet then she joins me in bed for a couple of hours. She would rather be with our big boy but its not going to happen until she's toilet trained
  7. so glad I found this thread. I have work related injuries to my right shoulder and wrist and struggle with lifting things, even reaching to have a scratch or undo a button behind my back is impossible. I am seriously looking at giving the show ring a try but wondered how I would get my crate to where I needed it to be and any other items. I do have a two wheel trolley but was thinking I would look like a weirdo, now I won't feel like the odd one out. I must say I think I like that trolley better though.
  8. Grrrrr if one more person tells me to rub my puppies nose in her wee I'll scream. I always say would you rub your childs nose in their soiled undies when toilet training. On saying that though. I have 3 kids, 21, 18 and 3yrs. Yesterday I'm outside waiting for my 3yr olds little girlfriend to turn up so we could go see Monsters University. I call out "Reilly where are you". He replies "behind Sissys car with Bailey". "What are you doing behind Sissys car" he replies "pooing". I walk behind the car and here he is pants around his knees doing a poo and Bailey sitting looking straight at him doing a poo. Oh lord. Trying to explain that just cause Bailey does it outside doesn't mean he can with out laughing was so hard. Thank god none of the neighbours were out.
  9. Bailey poops about 4 times a day at the moment. The older two are like Lisa's and only poop once or twice a day depending on the food they are on. Advance is always straight after morning and night feed. BH only one poop around lunch. Funny how different foods can make them poop more or less.
  10. Well the wonderful people at the pet shop gave me a heap of sample packs of Nutro to try Bailey on. Absolutely loves it and is happy to leave the bigger dogs food alone. The staff seem to think if she likes the Nutro she will like Black Hawk. I hope so or I'm going to have 20kg of Black Hawk puppy food to sneak in with the bigger dogs food to get rid of. They sold me a 3kg bag of Nutro for half price just in case she doesn't like the Black Hawk but fingers crossed she does
  11. Fairystar keep at it, we had only 15 min of crying tonight, Baileys been snoring away for the last 2hrs now.
  12. As soon as Bailey gets put in the crate she poos straight away. We scoop it out and put her straight back in. She has been barking and screaming whilst in the crate but we ignore her, after a couple of hours she tires out and goes to sleep
  13. No I already had the Eagle pack. She abdolutely loved it for the first 3 days then tried one of the older dogs biscuits and that was it. Hasnt touched Eagle pack since.
  14. Hahaha thats hilarious. We have a missing down pipe from our bigboy popping bubbles. He went to pop a bubble and wiped out the pipe. 7yrs still waiting for hubby to replace it
  15. Shes on Eagle puppy. My bigger dogs get a different kibble every few months (I dont like eating the same thing every day) at the moment they are on advance soon to change to black hawk. Advance isnt one of my favourites to give but it is one of their favourites. I think they like the texture of the biscuit. The breeder actually had her on Pal and I don't like supermarket food at all. I guess I could get a small bag and mix with the eagle slowly cutting down on the Pal?
  16. Ok people my boxer pup Bailey has gone off her food. Is happy to eat tge big dogs food but now won't touch hers. Ive tried mixing gravy with it but she turns her nose up and goes straight for the big stuff. The only thing I can get her to eat is chicken necks (she only gets tgem when we can watch her eat them) and of course takes off with the large marrow bones. We've tried feeding her seperately but its not working. Any hints
  17. Can't recommend a breeder in Perth but my good friend Wajoma here in Brisbane breeds gorgeous Aussies. I can certainly ask if she knows of any breeders in WA. Her dogs are her family and are doing really well in the ring. Happy to ask away for you if you want

My girl isnt but the boy will be from one of the breeders he recommended just before he died.
  19. LOL .... We learned this the hard way with our dearly departed Winston and swore that Banjo would be crated from day 1 - best thing we ever did - but gotta admit sometimes on cold nights I want to have him snuggled in our warm bed with us too - but so far have resisted the temptation .... Don't want to start bad habits!!! our other two were crate trained but the big softy who wanted no more dogs has caved big time
  20. tried that but hubby feels sorry for her as she is like a taking a sleeping baby out of a car, guarantee to wake up as soon as you try and lay them down into their own bed.
  21. Well had every intention of crate training Bailey as soon as we got her home, but OH NOOOO! hubby puts her to bed in our bed every night. Don't know what he is going to do in another 7 weeks when puppy number two comes along.

Thanks Jed, this is the puppy my daughter bought on the weekend. She unfortunately is missing the white collar. Still gorgeous though but looks like she won't make it into the show ring, so agility and obedience it will be for her. Well another person who used to breed and is very much into showing has seen our girl and said she doesn't see why we wouldn't consider showing her. She said she might not have the white collar but everything else about her is quite good, especially the shape of her face and body. My possible show boy is not quite a week old so early days at the moment to see how he turns out. :D
  23. When I got my second boxer we restricted play time for some months as he was 12 months and she was only 8 weeks. never unsupervised play time until she was about 5 months and could pretty much hold her own with him. They are both 9 and 8yrs now and we have just bought home another 8 week old puppy, again there is no unsupervised play time and if we go out the pup is kept inside. I am lucky that I am a shift worker so have a lot of time at home during the day time hours on week days, plus one daughter has Wednesdays off and the other daughter works at the end of our street and is home at lunch time every day so it's not like they are going to spend 8hrs a day apart every day. They will have plenty of time together but it will just be monitored. My boy is petrified of the pup at the moment, he is a huge boy so it's quite funny watching him run off or whimper with his tail between the legs. Give them plenty of adjustment time before leaving them alone.
  24. Ok so Bailey the Boxer has come home to us a few days earlier than planned. Mr Dash the Boxer who is 9yrs old absolutely petrified of her, Mrs Kahlua the 8yr old Boxer is not sure what to make of her. Bailey wants to suckle off her all the time and she isn't too thrilled about it. She has growled and snapped (but no contact) once and we intervene as much as we can as soon as we see Bailey is going to do it but not sure what else to do to prevent her from doing it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
