Hankodie, Naw... Hank is scrumptious! The land shark teeth with Odie is a great photo :) Lollipup, It's amazing how much they grow in 15wks hey! We have a photo of Griffin being licked clean just after he was born. Such a precious photo! Envy looks quite relaxed atop Goldie :) Lisa, I too look forward to seeing those professional pics. Does Nova like the bath? We bathes Griffin for the first time yesterday and he wasn't overly impressed. Mind you, it didn't stop him from still trying to get into the bath with the kids again last night - it can't have deterred him too much! lol We haven't travelled for longer than 25min with Griffin yet. We do lots of short trips every couple of days though. He just sleeps on the back seat with his doggie seatbelt on. We only have a soft crate. Griffin has been awesome in it - fingers crossed it continues :). We will take it away with us when we go but he won't ride in it in the car - not enough room. -
I couldn't help but laugh at your comment Aliwake... Hankodie, this thread has been very helpful to me too - thanks for starting it! :) Out of interest, what do people suggest to do when the pup runs off with something and wants to initiate a chasing game? Our 11wk old pup, Griffin, sourced my daughters singlet tonight. I didn't chase him because I knew that's what he wanted when he ran straight out into the backyard with it. I waited inside the door and within a few minutes he came back to get my attention and when he ran past my feet I grabbed him and got the singlet back. What do you think the best way to tackle something like that would be? He's not yet willing to give up something fun if I call him back...

That must be a huge relief JackC! Yep, Lisa. He's a Vizsla :) He's 11wks now. He changes in appearance every second day I reckon. It's amazing how quickly they grow All this training talk is interesting. Griffin is getting really good at sitting and will drop when I have a treat, or when he thinks I do. I even did it with my kids running around him today and he was great still. He is getting there with his recall. I can't imagine that he would come from something more interesting at a park yet though - at least it will be a few more weeks till we need to worry about that though. -

Lisa, Nova is gorgeous! I love the pic sitting at the door with the head tilt :) Hankodie, those pics of Hank were great too. Griffin is hard to photograph... Smashtank, it looks like Tank enjoyed his day out. We think Griffin is super cute too! :D I will put more pics up soon -

JackC, I'd be freaking at that too. I'm glad your vet said not to worry so much. I've been trying to get on here with a photo of Griffin. Every time I get on, I read where the thread is now up to and then either a child or the dog needs my attention... I've downloaded the app so I can do pics easily (out of pure laziness about not having to turn the computer on all the time lol). Ths pic was at 10wks old -

Thanks hankodie. I saw the pics of Hank in the previous pages - he's adorable! We are crate training Griffin. He's absolutely fantastic at night - sleeps in it from about 2200h and wakes for a wee/poo around 0530h and i take him outside. Then back in the crate till the kids get up around 0630. We take him out upon waking and after meals. If we're home and its nice out, we spend a lot of time in the backyard with him. The times we're in the house, I've started keeping him on the lead if he's not in his crate. It's the frequency that catches me out. Just when I think I have 5min to do something cause he's just gone... He isn't spending a whole lot of time locked in his crate in the days if he's awake, we may need to step that up. He takes himself in there for snoozes in the day and sometimes i out him in there if he's in the way. I'm on holidays at the moment so I'm home most of the time but come Friday he will have an hour in the morning and again in the arvo locked up. We tried the kids old playpen on saturday, he squeezed out the bars of it, so we tried the other pet pen we and he climbed out via his crate lol. -

Thanks for the welcomes :) I will upload some pics - I've just got to work out if I can upload pics from the iPad or if I have to turn on the pc to do it. Anyone know? I can do it through Flickr on the pc, correct? We have found Griffin to be quite a frequent wee'er in the daytimes. He doesn't stretch out to every hour or two when he's awake. When he's asleep he does and overnight he's awesome but in the days, sometimes he will need to go just 15 min or so later and if we take our eye off him, he will pee in the house. He's maybe had one pee accident a day for 7/10 days we've had him inside. Do you think that's normal? I had dogs as a kid but this is our first family dog and my first puppy as an adult. I can't get over how much it is like having another baby!! -

Hi everyone. My first post :). I have stalked the 'waiting thread' and more recently this thread, on and off for a few months now - not in a creepy way though, I promise ;). I thought I'd finally post in here now we have our little man, Griffin. Griffin is a Vizsla and he's a beautiful boy of nearly 10wks (tomorrow) and he has settled into our family nicely. He has been home with us for 1.5wks now. I've followed many of you waiting for and then getting your puppies and now that we have our own pup, all the information I've read is even more meaningful. The experiences you have all been through make good learning for those of us with pups slightly younger in age. Griffin starts puppy preschool later this week and we have been doing our best to socialise Griffin with family, friends, children other than our own and family/ friend's 'approved' dogs. He's been in the car a few times now and is snoozing peacefully on those trips now which is nice. He's great with most noises and I've been taking him out the front on the lead when the postman goes by in the hope of making the postie-bike an indifferent sound to him. If the lawn was longer I'd get the mower out. We may just have to start it to get him used to it in these early weeks. It's incredibly windy here today and we have been impressed that he is not bothered by it - our cats freak out in the wind. I've just read some good ideas for other methods of socialising in here too - we can give them a go over the coming weeks. Thanks for the ideas :)
