nawwww poor thing. Looks like you might need to invest in some jumpers and PJs to get little neko though the winter. Must admit it was quite chilly last night and it's not even winter yet

I've had my Sarah for nearly and year now after being rescued from a puppy farm (I can't believe it's been that long). She was considered to be a pretty good case when I got her and even now I'm still seeing improvement. We're lucky that she bonded very quickly to me and our other dog, we often say she uses me and Collie as her confidence as she's always a lot more confident when we're around. She has been quite fearful of my husband although strangely is ok around many other men, we're only now just seeing an improvement there and this morning Sarah raised her head and wagged her tail when OH walked past the dog bed as if to say come and pat me - so of course he obliged. Sarah still doesn't like to be pressured and things work best when I'm completely relaxed otherwise she'll jump around just out of arms reach if for example I need to put her in the crate for whatever reason. How does your new girl behave around your existing dog? I found Collie to be a big help in helping Sarah as she'll mostly just follow him around and rarely goes through a doorway before him. Basic clicker training with lots of treats also helped her to get excited around me and OH, if you can get their focus on something else they are not focused on their fear. Other than that, best of luck with her. The most frustrating thing of all is they can pick up on your frustrations which makes the process a lot harder. Hopefully you can come up with a system of her being inside most of the time and going outside to toilet and then being able to come back in again, especially as the weather is getting colder. I've had many nights of dragging myself out of bed to let Sarah inside as she often won't go through the doorway with my OH on the other-side on the door. Another thing that I've heard can be helpful is to leash your new girl to your existing dog. This will be less stressful than leashing her to you but it means she's forced to be in your company rather than being afraid in the backyard. Being able to run away from whatever they are afraid of is rewarding in itself so it's hard to get them out of the habit

Young Schoolgirls Asking To Take The Dogs For A Walk
Leah82 replied to Boronia's topic in General Dog Discussion
I commend these girls on wanting to be a part of the community and make a bit of money on the side but I agree with you Boronia that this business plan of theirs is fraught with potential issues. Hopefully your neighbors will also be wary of handing their dogs over to young girls with little to no experience handling strange dogs. -
I feed ours separately. We've never had any aggression issues but Sarah takes longer than Collie and she's a bit of a nervous eater so once he's finished he'll hover around her and as soon as she moves away from the bowl slightly he takes advantage and moves in to finish it off, which is not great because usually Sarah hasn't finished eating. If they ate at similar speeds then I'd probably feed them together but it's just not worth the worry for us or the dogs

Here's my week 14. I took a video of the dogs doing crazy zoomies after their baths and this is a screenshot of that. Not the best pic but funny none the less

Wow, that's incredible CC. It's amazing the detail you can pick up with some lenses that far exceed what you can see with the naked eye

Does Anyone Know What Rescue Amy Gurney Runs?
Leah82 replied to HappyCamper's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
hills science diet or not all these animals seem to spend all their time in crates, pens or chained up. I understand the livestock but if you have to crate your cats and dogs all day then you have too many animals. -

No Kepala for us again this month I'm stuck going to a wedding in Perth so will unfortunately be missing out on Gus and Rosie's B'day celebrations. I'm definitely there in May though!

Week 13/52 Sarah was looking particularly scruffy this evening so I thought I'd use some of the doggy portraits going around as inspiration to capture it

I'd agree with a cocker, they don't have a small dog personality and love to be loved. But they are still small enough to carry when you need to and stick in a bath tub for a wash. My only suggestion would be to get one over the age of 4 if she doesn't want a seemingly eternal puppy

Support For Breeder Community Dolers
Leah82 replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in General Dog Discussion
I know this thread is getting a bit old now but I've just read that SLF euthanized two of the puppies after discovering their central nervous system was compromised causing issues with most of their 5 senses. I just wanted to express my condolences here but most of all I want to thank SLF for sharing her story from the snake bite to the issues with the puppies. Surprisingly this situation is so uncommon no one knew what to expect once the puppies were born but now the thread on her little blind puppy currently has over 3000 views which says to me the next time this happens hopefully the breeder hears about this story and is therefore a little more knowledgeable going in -
I'm back :D been in the Cook Islands for the past 2 weeks for my honeymoon so no pics of the dogs. Thought I'd share a couple of the honeymoon shots though. Week 11/52 Snorkeling at Muri Beach, Rarotonga Week 12/52 Wigmore Falls and Wild Roosters Crazy cresties - I think it was you that asked what our cheeky dogs were so desperate to get to up that tree in my week 10, we have a couple of possum families around us, i think that tree has the ring tails

just noticed this thread, I just bought a bag of blackhawk fish and potato as our cocker has had dry sensitive skin recently. Anyone with experience with it? He's on the chicken and rice at the moment but the bag is nearly finished. Also I've found the best way to get a dog to stop being fussy is to get another dog :p Collie used to be pretty fussy about dry food and leave most of his biscuits but since getting Sarah (despite them being separated while eating) everything goes down pretty quickly Edit: I've also added coconut oil to his diet in the last week or so.

here's Sarah playing with me instead of going through the damn tunnel, so funny watching her barely go in the tunnel and run out behind me, most of the time I didn't realise until I'd almost got to the other end :p

here's my week 10/52, a little bit early but I have a busy week ahead... Cheeky puppies trying to climb the Conifer
-
I had another great session yesterday with Sarah. To start with she did a perfect circle of 4 jumps and a tunnel completely off lead. Kinda went downhill from there though, she didn't want to go through the tunnel so we spent a lot of time on that. I have a video of her playing with me a bit but I my internet is broken so I can't upload it.

that's a beautiful picture of Kite RV, love the colours. Here's my week 9/52 - Collie waiting for his turn :)

Ok..photographers! Esp Adelaide Based ...

sounds like a great way to explore that part of Australia. Might have chat to the future husband about it. Would tents be welcome on the station? and what would be general costs be for the actual workshop? -
I'm pretty sure the quantity needed to be detected by a dog would make it kinda pointless, you're better off with a $7000 metal detector and even then they have a hard time distinguishing gold from aluminum :p I really wish I didn't know this stuff, my hobby is the dogs, OH's is finding gold, old coins and gemstones. I'm just waiting for it to pay off in shiny jewellery for me :D

thanks DD :) we loved him even if the vet did laugh at him every time we brought him in :p Edit: I just remembered this photo, here's me the last time I had a puppy

I just remembered I said I was going to upload some pictures of Scout. here he is, our beloved Beagle x basset x border collie and goodness knows what else
