Looking through the Facebook comments it seems the price hike is actually costing them money and resources. They seem to have a person on facebook full time trying to do damage control through there, not the mention the increase in calls through to the call center.

OT: It's a shame they don't take into account health testing for certain genetic diseases. This may actually encourage people to look for a breeder that does the required testing when looking for a puppy

I would imagine at that rate you would be better off without insurance and maybe set money aside yourself and earn interest on it, with those premiums you would want his vet fees to be over $9000 over the next 10 years, and that's if the premiums don't go up again which they will

Collie's skin was getting pretty dry and flakey towards the end of last year. I started them both on coconut oil and now there's no flakes at all when I brush him and his fur is nice and soft Not sure if it's the change of season or the coconut oil but it's supposed to be really good for them either way

Thanks for putting in the effort Jo, looking at the facebook group there seems to be a lot of interest for June but maybe not on the long weekend

there have been soooooo many comments on this forum about puppy schools being a free for all with little to no training. This sounds like a fantastic alternative for people that can't afford, or are too far away from more professional training schools I wish I had a puppy too :D

Mine seems to get training methods out of thin air, one of his many techniques is he insists that Collie will get confused if you use 'heel' when stationary and moving, so it's 'heel' when standing still and 'walk' when you're moving :p Luckily we're not planning to trial him, in the distant future when we get a puppy or 2 I'll insist he do it right Edit: Chris, did you tell your hubby that Ceasar trains people not dogs :laugh:

Hopefully this incident will encourage your hubby to step up his game. Mine also has a lot of trouble dealing with unrealistic expectations. If Collie isn't working perfectly at obedience he gets frustrated and it makes the situation worse. Have a talk to your husband about what happened and how you both can make sure it doesn't happen again, if it's important to your husband that he be able to take scottie to the park without you then he needs to step up when it comes to training. There's no point you doing all the training if you want him to respond to both of you. And most of all your husband needs some patience, scottie is not going to learn everything over night so celebrate the small wins and give him every chance to succeed. The things I find my husband doing are telling the dogs to stay once and then tell them off when they move, instead reinforce the stay as you are moving away and build up from there. And expecting the dogs to come when they are clearly distracted, wait till they are closer or even walking towards you and then call.

personally I would just call the council on a day when he doesn't have water. The fact that the dog sometimes has water says to me that the owners can't be that ignorant and are probably just lazy. If the council give them a visit hopefully they'll talk to the owners about the dog needing a shelter as well Being able to see the dog from the street also means the owners won't be able to bullshit their way around the issues

Collie is pretty woolly at the moment so we don't worry about him. Sarah on the other hand recently been clipped and has no undercoat so I put her jumper on before letting her outside to the lovely 5 degree morning we had this morning. And on the plus side she can get out of it herself when it warms up :D

We had an extended family member house sit once when we just had Collie and yup no poop was picked up in about a week and a half. I didn't think that needed to be specified but apparently it did and we didn't pay her, a box of chocolates sufficed as she lived at home with her mum and 3 siblings at the age of 26 - she was happy enough to have her own space for a bit.

I just downloaded Try Tracking. I might give their training schedule a try as I'm on the waiting list to train with my club

Wow you have a great memory, Tuxie. Ollie was indeed a bit porky when he first came into care. He lost weight because we put him on a diet and he ran around quite a bit with our guys I was worried that when he was adopted, the new family might overfeed him and he'd become porky again but they've clearly been managing his portions well so he's looking very good :) As for Cupcake, she is absolutely adorable. She's getting bigger - leggier and leaner but she's cute as a button. I know I could have adopted her out 10 times over while is still in her cute, little puppy stage but you get more impulse adoptions for the babies. When she's a little older, has some training and looks more Kelpie-ish and less puppy, only the more serious people will apply. I can't imagine Cupcake not being as cute as a button even when she'll fully grown :) How big do you think she'll get? Juniper sized maybe?

Sarah did pretty well today, she didn't shy away from any of the jumps and even knocked one over and didn't even flinch (something I've been dreading for awhile). I realise the goal is not to knock over jumps but I was concerned when it did happen she would get a fright and her progress would be for naught. Unfortunately she was back on lead for the whole class, as she knew Collie was near by in the car. I attempted to let her off at the very beginning but she decided to use the opportunity to piss bolt as soon as the leash was off. And when she knows you're trying to catch her it just makes her more nervous. I think next time hubby and I will go down separately, their focus is so much better when they know their best friend isn't near by. Anyway here are some pics hubby managed to take while sarah and I were working :)
