Can it be used on carpet?

I have a 8 week old Rottweiler pup.. He seems to have almost covered he whole house in pee already I'm paranoyed about the smell.. Found my self spending money on crappy spot cleaners from woollies.. Trying to toilet train but his just a big goof ball With vinegar how long does the house smell like vinegar for? Really hating the dog smell :-(
