OK I am thinking maybe I a missing something! ;) The drontal on vet n pet direct says 10k or 35 kg how does that work? do you have to give half tablets or portions? or do you just give the 10kg until they get to 35 kg? I have bought interceptor but not wishing to heartworm EVERY month, so was going to use drontal every month except the 3rd mth, then interceptor (once every 3 mths)

Thanks all. Will have a think on it :) He is doing fine on pro plan and growing well, he went from 8.6 kg at 10 weeks to 10.4 kg on different scales 12 days later. His legs are getting longer by the day! Poo is usually solid, but can be sloppy, but he eats everything he can pinch outside, before I grab it! He goes 2-3 times a day and other than REALLY stinky trumps, he seems fine... The breeder had only Just started trying pro plan, so isnt that experienced with it, upon talking to her she has been researching black hawk too. She kept one of the pups, so maybe see what she does as she breeds and shows, so will know what to look for.. ( He does eat 1/2 raw anyway too mixed in as recommended by the breeder) I will speak to her, see what she thinks and maybe just keep him as is for now. I am planning on switching to raw and VAN when he is fully grown anyway, so may just stick too this. I was ONLY changing him after reading such bad reviews on purina. thanks again, appreciate the information and thoughts :) -

From research it comes with very poor results on most food analysis sites and frequently rates low in stars. Its loaded with corn and grains from what I have read and poor quality. Is this not correct? . Can you define "better quality"? I know plenty of breeders and exhibitors who swear by Pro Plan - it's not rubbish. -
Hi all My 12 week pup is currently on Pro plan. I wish to change this to a better quality food. I have on my short list Blackhawk, Artemis or Holistic select and dont know which one to go for. Blackhawk dont do a large breed puppy which worries me? I did consider taste of the wild (think thats what its called, but too difficult to source) So which would you pick and why? Interested in people who own artic breeds too as it will be more relevant I think? thanks

Hi, (fairystar here) Just wanted to nip back quickly and say a THANK you to those who really helped me with advice and suggestions and not judgement and let you know how we are getting on.... The links and PM's I have recieved have been greatly recieved and used. I am pleased to say Casper is MUCH happier. We have set up a LARGE pen in the garage, set up fake grass and water and kong with treats and yesterday when left for school run, was fine :) He did a poo on the grass which was solid, he was calm when we came home ( came in quietly listening for barking) and had eaten all the treats. He was super excited to see me the first time and a little stressed but the second time much better with his stress levels and NO POO!! hE OBVIOUSLY just hated the small restriction of the crate when alone. I have removed the divider and he also prefers the crate now its in the large pen open and not restricitng him to a super small space, so much so, he is sleeping in it better at night beside our bed and actually going in it to lie down this morning when its back in the family room. May have to invest in another crate as its a pain to keep moving it to 3 seperate rooms seen as its a 42 incher !! He is toiletting well outside and started pre puppy school :) so thanks all.. x

I have been told 3. breeder had him done at 6 weeks. He was then due at 10-12 weeks and then 14-16 weeks according to all the vets I ahve spoken too. However, speaking to a local one yesterday, if I had got the nobivac instead of the C5, he would not of needed another one. however, becasue I got the c5, he does need the third shot.
-
Oh Wow really, I was told by the local vet it was the best vaccine and recommended it instead of having another c5. he has had ones at 6 weeks and 10 weeks and due again at 14 weeks when he is booked in for nobivac instead of the C5 as she advised it as better.
-
Yes they do :) I am not asking about the yearly booster This is in question to the gap between 2nd and 3rd normal puppy vaccinations, if we used nobivac for the 3rd one, instead of another C5, not sure If I am wording it right...

Hi, I have been researching tick prevention as I have a long haired dog. I also have 4 children and 2 cats and dislike the spot on treatments due to this. My cat had a serious reaction too a spot on and now has program and capstar. However, this is not for dogs. Is there anything orally or injection wise about for dogs? I can only find proban in vet n pet direct, but its not avaliable? thanks
-
He needs a third vaccination regardless, we have decided to do the nobivac instead of the standard C5, if we had already done the nobivac he wouldnt need the third shot but we didnt, so he does. :) hadnt heard of it until we rang a vet nearer our home as we went to our old vets where we used to live for his 2nd booster. Theyw ere going to do his 3rd booster in 2 weeks time. Wondering how long I have to wait before having it as he is due in 4 weeks time according to other schedules..
