Thanks Moosepup, thats interesting to know about the wellness plan, so thanks, wouldnt be worth the hassle :) checking premiums for the plans without the wellness, its cheaper for petsecure, happy to pay more if the petplan is better though, so trying to find out as its almost $10 difference a mth :)

I do want opinions :) I want to know why you pick one over the other, thats all and if something is stated, I dont blindy accept I go and double check, dont most people? I checked and they do cover prexisting conditions already claimed for, so thats incorrect what was stated in thiss post and others may go pick the other one due to incorrect information.. I want to pick on valid and correct info and real reasons and choices, so i can make the best choice I can for my boy. Sorry... I was only asking I have to make a choice and trying to find the very best. I am concerened about the 21 day wait with pet plan too as its a new puppy and anything can happen in those 21 days!

I asked and they replied HI Natalie, Illness and conditions do not become pre-existing conditions after the policy starts. However if your pet develops a chronic condition that recurs (for example cancer, diabetes, or arthritis which requires ongoing treatment), whilst the condition is covered, if your policy is renewed the amount payable for the condition will be limited to the overall annual benefit limit when the condition first arose. So if your annual benefit amount is $12,000 that is the limit that would be paid for the chronic condition over the life of the policy. Hope this information helps you. Do pet secure cover illnesses and conditions for life, or do they become pre-existing conditions after 12 months and are no longer covered? If your dog gets an illness that requires treatment for the rest of its life, they will cover costs for only a year, after that it becomes a pre-existing condition and is excluded. Unlike PetPlan who continue covering you.

They say this in their web page so i am assuming its covered for life! Choose your pet insurance wisely Once you have your pet insurance in place, it’s difficult to move from one insurer to the other, as pre-existing conditions are excluded in new policies. This means that if you switch from one pet plan to another, anything that you have claimed for with your current insurer would not be covered by the new insurer. So do your homework, review the insurance, and compare the premiums and options available. Choose wisely, taking account of your budget and needs, as you need to think about being in it for the long haul, because as your pet ages, the more valuable the cover is likely to be for you. Choice recommends Choice Magazine compared and reviewed Australian pet insurance policies on the market, comparing premiums, excesses payable, co-payments, benefits, exclusions and reviewing the pet insurance cover in a range of scenarios –for cats, dogs, various ages and breeds. In 3 of the 4 plans (Accident only – cat and dog cover, Accident & Illness – dog cover), Petsecure was recommended by Choice Magazine. http://www.petsecure.com.au/compare

Unsure will have to ask, but they do cover for life. Do pet secure cover illnesses and conditions for life, or do they become pre-existing conditions after 12 months and are no longer covered?

Has anyone subscribed to this and read it? :)

Is pet secure any good? I like their policy and that they also have a funds towards vaccinations and other regular treatments :) I am trying to decide between them and petplan :)

has everyone had the C5? one vets gives C5 and the other C3?
-
They also have puppy class at the vets, so he will go to that too and will take him to the kids school in mty arms after his second vaccination :) thanks so much for the replies :) x

I went to the vets today and she said second they recommend 10-12 weeks, so I have rescheduled it for 11 weeks and last 16 weeks they prefer, so will get it done at 16 week then. She said he could go out after the second shot and there ARE cases are parvo in the area and they have a few being treated with it currently

Hi all I am just enquring. I am terrified regarding parvo and want my new pup to be protected, so am sorting this out before he arrives. He has been vaccinated at 6 weeks by the breeeder. I am local too 2 vets, one says 4 weeks after his first so can be vaccinated at 10 weeks and again at 14 weeks the other says 12 weeks and then 16 weeks.. some sites seem to say 6,9,12 and then 16!!!! I have read that some pups dont even have a response until after 16 weeks, some say from 12 weeks they have the best response, I amr eading too much and getting all confused. What ages were your pups when they had their vaccinations? I am worried waiting until 12 weeks, expeially as we want to do puppy classes.. Also it used to be you could go out a week after the secnd vaccination, is this still the case? some say yes and other say not until all 3 have been done. thanks :)

Thanks all, he is beautiful and NOPE we are all ready and just waiting :) The breeder is at a show next week, so we wait until the week after, these will be two very long weeks LOL
-
Introducing "Casper" 7 weeks old, we can go bring him home in 2 weeks
-
I have no patience normally LOL However, there simply was no pups avaliable upon all my enquries but some were just born or pregnant and due. When I found my breeder, I knew I would be blessed with one of her pups, we we waited and had the chance to get a pup much sooner, but decided to wait and happy I have. She is a great breeder, wonderful communication, weekly picture updates and her pups are amazing :)

Awwww checking all the new pups out, congrats all xxx

I have had super sick kids, so really behind in the thread, but we get too pick our pup next week and we will bring him home in 3 weeks!!!! SUPER excited Thats all :D
-
I have lots of pciture,s but they belong to the breeder, so not sure If I can share :) I will be taking lots in 3 weeks though when we can go visit xx

The person making me the collar makes them for the breeder, so the harness will be adjustable and will last approx 6 mths, will have a collar and lead just in case :)
-
I have a box now, it's full of water and food bowl, lead, bone, toys, blanket, poo bags, waterdispenser, pads for wes for travel when we collect him, cover for chair. Just ordered collar, harness and car fastener to be made. Just ordered crate, divider and puppy kong, combs and brushes too... :)
-
Thanks. I have found this http://www.petandgarden.com.au/bono-fido-dog-crate-with-metal-trays.html It has a metall pan and the breeder thinks it looks OK. So thinking I might get it and the vebo divider as I will get the 42" :)
-
thanks :) I am planning to take him for a wee, have a big play inside or out and then another wee and crate with a stuffed kong, each time I have to do the school run :) I am sure It will be all good, I am just a worry LOL.. he will probably sleep, with all the kids to tire him out most of the time and the cats to chase LOL You would most likely find that dogs are not allowed inside the school grounds & therefor, he would have to be left in the car, which of course, is a no no. I wouldn't think a couple of hours in the crate alone would do him any harm providing he is wee'd & poo's before he goes in. Have a bit of a game before & he will most probably sleep the whole time.

Thanks, I will do. I am looking at a open bottom crate but worried he will just dig under it, so going to work it out. looking at DS schedule, he will normall only be left max 1.5 hrs. I found several information sites saying 1 hr for each mth of their age +1, so he should be fine for maximum 2 hrs :) thanks all for all the advice, appreciate it. Its a long time since we had a puppy and so excited...

Why? My two other samoyed's were never allowed out without supervision? Samoyed are knows to dig up and under fences, escape them, get out of enclosures, get stolen and run and run. I have always been told by the rescue and pretty much most books I have read to never leave a sammy outside unsupervised and I never have, I had them for 10 yrs. If I had a outdoor run, it would have to be on grass as we dont have any concrete, I am betting how long it would take for him to dig out under it and escape The rescue I was involved with, was telling me all the antics, such as digging out through the back door into the garage, when unsupervised and uncrated! They have always told me never to leave a sammie unsupervised, uncrated. I will be making sure he is safe and secure at all times whilst having lots of fun and love. We wont be following him arund the yard or house and hounding him, but quietly watching and supervising to check he doesnt get himself in trouble. Just like we have been taught and told to do in the past and from our experience as sammie owners. We will give hime 'alone' time when we are out and if he chooses too want it during the daytime, Inside. Our other sammies just went and sat in their crates when they wanted alone time and a break from us :) We leave it open all day and it was their little dens :) Outside we will be 'about' and sat outside when he is chasing and racing around the yard. My question anyway wasnt about outdoor play or supervision, i was just checking 2 hours was OK as a maximum time left until he gets his shots, as I couldnt remember and in the UK I lived 5 mins from school :) Thanks for replying and the advice :)

He will have lots of time outside but just supervised :)
-
I did look at outside kennels/run, but they are all bottomless, so he could go toilet on the grass, BUT he could dig under! as samoyeds tend to do :)
