  1. That's impressive! Are you taking it in tablet or powder form? My dogs are both on ester C and I've thought about it for myself but have baulked at the number of the tabs recommended (and the taste of the powder .. blech).
  2. From the meeting agenda at this link They would seem to be talking about dangerous and restricted dogs as defined by the CAA (NSW).
  3. That's distressing - can see the weight would be an issue but that should be obvious to the vet surely. I would go to a specialist for this type of surgery .. don't worry too much about the x-rays as a specialist would most like want to do another set (that's my experience anyway).
  4. I have an old top loader that leaves hair in the drum after washing doggy stuff. A handful of paper towels dampened and swished around the tub helps and then I usually just wash a load of old towels or something that doesn't matter if it picks up a little hair. That - and accepting that there will always be just a little dog hair on _everything_
  5. If it's terms and conditions type content I honestly wouldn't worry about it.. Lots of sites have pretty much identical T&C pages - you can buy T&C content written by lawyers but I'm sure many many people just cut and paste. (we wrote our own btw:-) Is it a lot of text or just a para or two? If they're using your original images or designs then that's different.
  6. Sitting at the vet's waiting room a while back I heard the receptionist phoning for quotes on a security guard for evenings/late night after they'd had just such an incident.
  7. Hi Smash, The NSW sibe club has some info on training and behaviour, including some free downloads. Have a look under the "behaviour" link at the top of the following page. http://www.shcnsw.org.au This might give you some clues while you find a trainer.
  8. How much of the time does he wear the boots? My boy has trouble with the wooden floors but given how much dogs' feet sweat I'm wondering how useful they'd be for him. (he's inside most of the time).
  9. The tiguan is ok for athletic dogs... the sills are too high for my poor old arthritic beasties. I'd swap ours for our old turbo forester in a heartbeat.
  10. no - which makes it all the more crazy.
  11. I voted no on this one as the concept assumes the 'dangerous dog breed' classification. http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/owners-should-in...-tkhn.html#poll
  12. Get a titre test - this will tell you if he has adequate immunity. I haven't vaccinated my guys for years and their titres are still at good levels.
  13. should be up soon on ... (i missed it too) http://www.abc.net.au/iview/#/news
  14. grabbed from live feed this morning Lance and his lead dogs Rev and Maple.
  15. Link to article about dropped dog care.
  16. I'd make it way shorter. along the lines of "Please do not enter our property. Please contact us to retrieve balls etc by knocking at the front door or phoning xxxxxx, regards, Your Neighbour"
  17. Poor Pucky ... got those sad eyes down pat though.. I swear my recycling bin has more other peoples' bottles (that I pick up in the street) in it than it does our own empties.
  18. There's some useful info on this page. http://clipperbladesharpening.webs.com/dogspanailcutting.htm (at the bottom - after the info about the dog bath)
  19. It's used a lot in rural area for foxes and wild dogs. It may be put out as buried baits which are supposedly removed after a specified time if not taken. Also dropped from the air in remote areas/national parks. My local wild dog association lays baits along the roads near my place. I don't dispute the need to combat feral animals but 1080 is inhumane.
  20. I have a couple that came from a pet supply place on Parramatta Road at Haberfield .. Aussiepets or something like that. We use them inside and if my leaky dog leaks on one I just give it a hose down and a bit of a scrub. I imagine the edge stitching isn't completely waterproof but I don't submerge them and they're holding well.
  21. Ok - I've only had two dogs that I have had to do this with, ..... Looks like we're weirder than I thought. For my girl I put on a disposable glove and collect directly into a sterile specimen jar. Generally on the nature strip along from my house first thing in the morning. I seldom get a splash on my hand and it provides entertainment for the office workers heading for the bus. Easy peasy. Same for the boy - although getting the jar in the right spot is a little trickier :-) I've had quite a bit of practice though :-( I hope your girl is soon improving WE.
  22. I don't ever remember a resident cat or dog at any vet I've been to - cats in cages, dogs on lead. I peek around the corner as I open the door to make sure there's no little dogs on a loose lead but that's it. In fact the only off lead dog I've seen in the vet reception was mine ... he slipped his collar when the vet took him "out the back" to change a dressing, he came barreling out the door of the treatment room and zoomed right back to me. Luckily I was the only one there (early morning at the specialist centre) and the main doors were closed, otherwise he would have beaten me home.
  23. Re - the oil. We work on 1000mg per 10kg of dog. One chomps them up like lollies, the other insists on having them squeezed over her dinner.
  24. We have one which has several rows of holes to allow correct sizing and little clippy things that hold it together, easy to fit and remove... has been very good although has a split we've taped up. I haven't been able to get another one exactly the same although the vet sells one similar. those soft ones look intriguing ... eta - the one we have is translucent which I think helps with navigation.
  25. My heart dog with the heart problem gets CoQ10 twice daily. It's HALVED in price since I last bought it.
