  1. I thought interceptor included heart worm? Thanks for the help. I had my hubby talk to the vet and have pj put on something else. I really don't want to risk it even if it is a small dose of ivermectin. :) :) It does do heartworm but doesn't have ivermectin in it. We use drontal all wormers until 6 months then put them onto interceptor :) That makes sense. Just home from work and spoke to my hubby re vet check. The vet didn't discuss anything about worming or flea treatment regime and just dumped the heart guard plus/frontline as well as drontal wormer on the counter and walked off. When hubby called back re ivermectin she told him to get an alternative treatment from petbarn. So I need to figure out what I should be giving PJ. I have heard some people don't give heartworm until 6 months why is this? What do you use for flea tick treatment in puppies? Sorry for the questions my vet was no help whatsoever.

  4. PJ and Leela's tags came today from pet tag embossing. Really happy with the strength. I had to take a pic with PJ new tag
  5. I was just looking at those. They look really nice.
  6. I love etsy I just bought these ones off etsy but they look too nice to use so I'm going to use them when I take the dogs out to show them off. Spoilt I know! I just bought the stainless steel ones from pet tag embossing :)
  7. Thanks BC nut they look pretty sturdy and they come in stainless. One happy chAppy :)
  8. Does anyone know where I can buy good quality dog tags? My dogs are always out digging and rolling in the dirt, running in the rain and what not and the pet tags are just not lasting. I have just bought some aluminium tags and they are so thin and flimsy I can't see them lasting long. Any suggestions?
  9. Ok I feel a bit of relief. I can't see his ribs but when I touch him I can feel his ribs. He is booked in next weekend for vaccine so will be able to discuss with the vet. Thanks for the help guys :)
  10. I'm trying to figure out if my 11 week male BC is a healthy weight. At 10 weeks he weighed 5.25kg. Is it normal to be able to feel my puppies ribs? At the moment he is fed 3/4 cup of supercoat in the morning and at dinner 100g of chicken mince with 1/2 cup supercoat. Is this a normal amount to be feeding? I do want to eventually put him on a better quality kibble I feel I'm feeding him 2x more than what I would on say proplan. I also want to cut back on the kibble and feed more raw meat. I'm so confused by the amount of information on the net. I don't know if I'm doing the right or wrong thing for my pup as everyone has many different opinions on feeding.
  11. I use frontline plus. Never had any problems with it. We get a lot of brown ticks. Never seen them on her since using it. I have also never seen a flee on my dog either.
  12. Oh. Am I doing the wrong thing by putting him in the bathroom over night and verandah during the day when I'm not home?
  13. He is 10 weeks. Yes he has free time in the backyard with Leela when we are home then when he is tired he likes to come inside.
  14. At the moment I lock PJ up in the bathroom at night time and during the day he is locked up on the verandah when I'm not home. At what age did everyone stop locking away their pups?
  15. Have you thought of having someone come to your home to feed and medicate plus walk dogs. I do see in my local newspaper people advertising home care of animals. They are usually vet nurses. Just a thought.
  16. Mice? Not recommended  I would feed human grade mince not pet mince as it is too fatty. Nothing to add except your pup is gorgeous! :) mice lol I didn't notice I wrote that. Thanks for the help guys.
  17. Here is pic if PJ. He does not have traditional markings of a BC. I fell in love with his chocolate patch. And this is my 4 year old BC Leela Enjoy :)
  18. Hello, my name is melinda and I'm new to the forum. I just bought a new BC puppy he is 9 weeks and the breeder has advised me to feed chicken mince with grated veggies, cottage cheese and rice for dinner. He also get kibble during the day. My problem is I'm having trouble finding a good quality preservative free pet chicken mince and I have used up all the mice the breeder gave me. So I decided to give puppy chicken necks and just mix the veg and what not into his kibble. However he had quite a bit of trouble chewing through the chicken neck. He swallowed a big chunk and had to cough it up. I'm really worried he will choke on it. Is it too early to be feeding A 9 week old border collie chicken necks? Or should I be giving him human grade chicken mince mixed with kibble until I can find someone who supplies pet chicken mince?
