My pup's vaccs were the same as Post 17. I took him out at 11 weeks, carried him everywhere. Not a bad effort for an Akita pup. I took him areas where I knew dogs weren't too common.

How Would You Feel About This Situation?
Malakita replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have a Mal and sometimes when they vocalise, they can sound like they are growling. They do look intimidating with the size and the body language, which can be interpreted as aggressive. The main thing is that your doggie is ok and recall is reliable. -
Impounded Bull Breed Put Down Before Breed Assessment In Nsw
Malakita replied to BlackJaq's topic in In The News
From the way I read the article, the owner had called the pound. And basically trusted them at their word there was no dog matching his dog's description. It wasn't until he visited the pound himself he actually saw his dog. Who knows maybe they did organise someone to come and feed their dog whilst they were away. There are a lot of questions but unfortunately the dog wasn't chipped or registered and that lies square on the owners shoulders. Poor doggie! -
How is your little puppy doing? Hope some light has been shed for a more definitive diagnosis. Sending healing thoughts your way.

Height Restriction For Dogs In Beijing Being Enforced.
Malakita replied to Kirislin's topic in In The News
That is incredibly heartbreaking for the poor owners! I look at my two large breeds and know I would die if they were taken away so cruelly and worse , that they might possibly be for the meat trade. Who are they to deem large breeds too big for city living? It is too horrible ! -
I use them for cat and dog food. You can select the frequency and you can also change your order details anytime. They also send you a reminder when your next order is scheduled to be shipped out. This time around the cat food was due to be shipped out, but I went into my account and pushed back the delivery date. They are really flexible and I am really happy with their service.

I was walking our two yesterday down one of the local streets. Just me and the two dogs, no hubby. We were heading down towards the primary school and I notice a station wagon slowing down (coming towards us). As the wagon gets closer, it slows even more until it pulls up alongside us next to the nature strip. The wagon stops for a few seconds and the driver is looking at us. He doesn't wind down the window or smile or say anything. Then he drives off. I thought it was odd but didn't think more of it. With the Akita pup, we get heaps of people approach us but they always say something. He didn't say a peep. Look it was probably all legit but plain weird all the same.

Our then 9 week old flew from NSW to VIC without any issues. We got him out of the crate thingy and he didn't seem stressed. Your pup will be just fine. :)

I am such a sook! I found the photo just heartbreakingly beautiful. I am sure he will be lavished with much love.

We welcomed our Malamute puppy home in late June last year. She was an oops litter and the breeder needed to rehome ASAP. We were due to go overseas which was well and truly planned before we knew we were bringing her home. All was fine when she came home. But the constant toileting drove me absolutely bonkers! Actually beyond bonkers for some reason. I felt like I was having the puppy blues and just wanted everything to be perfect. I was sad when the time came for her to return to her breeders for the 3 weeks whilst we went away. But having that break did me a huge world of good. I almost felt like there were times where I felt I wasn't bonding with her when we bought her home. Getting away from the intensity of having a puppy again did wonders for my soul. We came back and everything was great. Now fast forward almost a year later, and we have our second puppy. I wonder why I was so uptight in the first place! You definitely are not alone in these feelings.

She is a gorgeous girl! Yes I have heard Renbury is definitely more breed savvy. Hope her owners find her.

She loves supercoat - like teenagers like Maccas. Supercoat (and Purina 1) are made by that other food company - Nestles - and I've got ethical reasons for avoiding them.Same with anyone who suggests Science Diet is a good idea - after you read the ingredients then tell me that. The vet also mentioned Science Diet is a premium food. Forgot about that one. I love the comment about Supercoat! Lol! Mars and Nestles make a lot of fog food. Can' t wait to try them with the new available soon BH fish and potato.

What Is Your Dogs Favorite Treat?
Malakita replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
The older pup loves bread. Their 'nanna' brought back from overseas some durian cake. Turns out, she loves the stuff. Our boy not so much. Our boy loves pasta and duck poo! Ewww! :) -
At 3 months, both my pups were on 3 meals a day. My older pup stopped having her midday meal at about 4 months by herself. She wasn't hungry and now she only eats once at night. My 4 month old is still having 3 meals a day.

Both puppy photos are totally gorgeous!! :) Take loads of pics, they only stay little for such a short time!

Would You Guys Go To The Emergency Vet For This?
Malakita replied to Inka3095's topic in General Dog Discussion
Poor little mite, hope she is feeling better! -
Yes, he was pushy. The pup doesn't have his annual until next year, so I don't have the Spanish inquisition until then. I am happy with Black Hawk as in both the dogs seem fine. So BH it is. :)

Thanks you guys! Lol yes he certainly has big feet!

Taken today in Richmond.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! The vet sells Royal Canin and um, Advance. I know I will stick to BH as they are fine on it. I just cringed because he came across all heavy and not that pleased. They are a good vet otherwise. I had to giggle though as I say that, as the vet nurse asked if my Mal and Akita are related. Lol! What age should I stop feeding the pups puppy food? I will change the 13 month old to BH adult now. Jill

Yes, sorry there only is one puppy, the lamb and rice. I just have it stamped in my head as large breed puppy. He was really full on and said Blackhawk puppy is poor quality and got do the pup damage with him growing. I also got a earful from his wife when I took the puppy in for his first checkup. I said he was on Advance but now BH. So for the next checkup, I fibbed and said 'oh yes he is on Advance' and I got a pleased smile. And yesterday I got the husband for the first time and yikes! He made it sound worrisome if I didn't feed the pup Advance. And he says he is not supporting a specific company or has any fixed interest but knows BH is rubbish. When he said Supercoat is better than BH, my antenna went up. We did start out my older pup on Canidae but she was too gassy. So BH sounds fine and is being chowed down fine. But the vet just came across all heavy and that my growing pup might just morph into a stunted mutant if I don 't stop feeding BH. In our receipt, they usually write comments. Yesterday it felt like I was reading a teacher' report card. He had written that owner has been advised about the poor quality of BH and should change to a premium food. Thanks all, Jill

Hi everyone, I have an almost 4 month old Akita. He started off on Advance as that was what his breeder fed him on. I switched to Blackhawk large breed puppy as I also have an Alaskan Malamute ( 13 months) , who is also on Blackhawk puppy. But the vet almost ear bashed me about how poor a quality Blackhawk large breed puppy is and that Advance puppy is far superior a product in comparison. I felt like a school kid in the principal 's office. So I would appreciate feedback about what people think about either large breed puppy products. He said Supercoat is noted as a premium food. I thought this is the opposite? Thanks Jill
