  1. I saw some on crazysales.com.au - most of their stuff seems really reasonably priced, though I don't know anything about grooming tables... This is one: http://www.crazysales.com.au/grooming-table-with-adjustable-arm-for-cats-dogs-and-pets-120cm-in-length.html
  2. Yes, I did see your other comment, and I'm fully aware he will require training out of undesirable behaviours, but I also think being desexed will be of assistance. I know my dog very well, and I have no doubt that his behaviour has been affected by remaining entire. I have also been dealing with opposition from within my family to waiting any longer to desex. I'm not a dog trainer, and I'm well aware of my limitations in that direction. It was a very considered, personal decision that I was never 100% at peace with and your repeated guilt tripping isn't going to give him his balls back, or make me feel any better. I appreciate that your intention is to inform, but this decision wasn't made lightly. More likely you haven't trained him not to do it. Desexing doesn't train a dog. You've mentioned several times now that you expect behaviours to stop now that he's desexed (and got him desexed because he had behaviours you didn't like). So you're in for a shock when you realise the removal of the ability to reproduce doesn't actually train your dog for you :)
  3. Minimax, I just said he'd NEVER tried to hump another dog before, and has only rarely (ie maybe 5-6 times) half humped his bed or a toy. I'm not a freaking idiot! Don't know how I was meant to train him out of a behaviour he never had?! More likely you haven't trained him not to do it. Desexing doesn't train a dog.
  4. Sounds like Nova did really well for his first class Lisa, and good that you like the trainer too! Nixon has now humped other dogs on two consecutive visits to the park (after never trying it before) - I suppose I should have expected it really... He clearly hasn't realised his balls are gone yet...
  5. Some new pics of the cuties: http://twentytwowords.com/2013/12/05/puppy-boy-still-nap-together-every-day-still-cutest-thing-internet-15-pictures/#more-92295
  6. I completely believe that waiting would be best if you can, but only if his behaviour is manageable. When you feel like you're not in control, then maybe that will be the right time. I wanted to wait, but we just desexed our lab at 9.5months. His behaviour had clearly changed and we didn't feel we could let it continue (mainly barking). I wish we could have waited, but I don't have any regrets, yet. It was what worked for us.
  7. I'm far from an expert, but it would concern me having a pup that young on such a restricted diet too. I would wait to talk to the dermatologist first maybe? It's not like you will have long to wait. If he agrees that an elimination diet is necessary, then you can express your concerns, and see if he thinks some additional supplements might be a good idea as well?
  8. We have possums all through our yard, and we've never seen a flea - sounds like you're being pretty unlucky! We used advocate from day1 though, and it seemed to be very effective for us. Glad you're seeing some improvement with the behaviour issues though - there is light at the end up the tunnel, but make sure you pause and enjoy her puppiness occasionally too :)
  9. Welcome Sares and Mila - she is absolutely adorable! So lovely to see some new baby puppies joining the thread! I'm loving it! Tikira - Jingo looks awesome in his Christmas lingerie! He looks much happier about it than Nixon did yesterday :)
  10. Lunchtime: underwear was in the middle of the backyard, enormous bone was missing in action, and the cloud collar was really really dirty...
  11. of course - I can't seeing Nixon behaving too grown up anytime soon :) I have no doubt I'll continue to need puppy support for a long time to come! Just wish I'd found this thread sooner when he was a tiny puppy and so so hard to manage!
  12. p.s. He had his funny wart/mole thing cut out of his ear too, which is what the white dressing is from.
  13. Ok, embarrassing photos as requested: This was actually the night before his op, but it cracked me up even though he lies like this all the time! Keeping the boys cool I say... The dreaded cone: For some reason he liked lying on it?! The only one I have of his cloud collar - will try to get a better one at lunch: sexy undies! will try to get one with undies and cloud collar together when I go home - I tried this morning, but I'd just given him his enormous bone and he did a runner on me :) I agree Lisa, I don't think the marking will stop completely. He loves peeing all over the dog park, so will be interesting to see if he cuts back on that now... It just hadn't even crossed my mind that he would pee inside, but I guess most inside places he will go won't be full of other dogs scents though! The nurse wasn't bothered at all - but I was horrified!
  14. Thanks for all the beautiful Nala pics DDD - she is truly a stunner! Well, Nixon got the snip on Friday. He has been really good, but the challenge, as usual, is to prevent licking. He did not take to the cone at all well (or maybe I'm just too big a softie). He would either lie there and cry, or race around and have a psycho - banging the cone into everything, or stand with his head hanging and the cone resting on the ground. I bought him a kong cloud collar, which he doesn't mind at all, but it turns out he can still reach his wound with it on. I think it does make it a little harder though. He not licking excessively - he's just trying to keep up his usual regimen of daily grooming. I've compromised today by putting on the cloud collar, making him wear a pair of undies, and have given him an absolutely enormous bone to keep him distracted. He looked absolutely hilarious this morning!! Generally, he was a bit quiet on saturday, but by yesterday was racing around like nothing had ever happened, so he's bouncing back nicely! I forgot to say that he decided to mark all over the consult room at the vet, which was so embarrassing! It didn't even occur to me that he'd pee inside, but I guess all the other doggy smells were too much for him... He even peed on the corner of a lovely wooden desk they have. Hopefully marking will be a thing of the past now.
  15. These are similar, and they have a kitten one, but not sure where you'd be able to get it at short notice http://www.nightcomforter.com.au/
  16. we've used the scalibor tick collar since our pup was 8 weeks old. He's 9.5 months now and I'm yet to see a single tick. We have lots of possums, and bushy areas, and he goes to the dog park a lot, so I figure it's being fairly effective. We're definitely not complacent though.
  17. I've seen it in most of my local coles/woolies in the mt ommaney/darra/jindalee area. They usually have a 1kg bag in the meat section. It's around $8 or $9 I think? Have you asked one of your local ones if they can get it in for you?
  18. got an email from http://www.mypetwarehouse.com.au/ today, and they have 20% off canidae now, so even with more expensive shipping it might be a good deal?
  19. Nala is absolutely gorgeous!! You must be so excited! Sounds like she's been extremely good too :) I bet you can't believe she's finally there...
  20. We got 4weeks free through our vet
  21. I hope you can find someone a bit more cooperative... good luck! Don't give up - you're doing so brilliantly in such an awful situation. I wish we could all help you more, but we can listen, so feel free to vent as much as you need to!
  22. I would send them an email. The only exclusions I can find them actually mention is big things like kennels. I'm very disillusioned!
  23. That sux. I can't even find a map or anything on there. Have you tried adding something to the cart? The bit I read said as long as their courier delivers there, it will be ok, and it says their courier is australia post?! Weird...
